  1. Signing off this thread. We are moving to another sailing so my sister can join us.
  2. We are going to the Miami Zoo on our debarkation day. It looks really fun.
  3. We booked the pasta class on Celebration. Seems like a lot of fun,
  4. We have only cruised Carnival but I have booked Norwegian Viva for 2025. Amazing bucket list itinerary: Istanbul (embarkation), Kusadasi, Santorini, Athens, Mykonos, Alexandria, Haifa, Ashdod (debarking) I made sure the port time for Alexandria is long enough for the pyramids and it is!
  5. No husband just my mother (grandma to kids). Kids are in college so technically adults I guess! As the person who funds and pays for all the travel I am not sleeping in a double sofa bed with anyone! I’m just going to hope that this amazing itinerary is offered once I am no longer paying for kids (have said when they graduate college and have real jobs they are on their own).
  6. Priced it out and 2 insides come to $526 more than 1 balcony. I've only done an inside once and OV once. Hated it. Felt claustrophobic and closed in. I am also not one to spend a bunch of time in the common areas where it's loud and there are so many people. Love to read or just sit and contemplate on the balcony. Well, maybe it's not a good time to branch out to another line until the kids are no longer traveling with us.
  7. Would love to piggyback on this question. We are also potentially looking at a cruise on Viva. My main concern is the sleeping arrangements. Due to the cost of the cruise and all related travel we would need to book only 1 cabin. We have always booked a regular balcony on Carnival with the king bed and then a drop down bunk and sofa for separate sleeping for the "kids" (boy and girl). The balcony description states a double sofabed. Is this one bed that 2 people share? Is there any configuration for more sleeping places? We definitely can't afford 2 cabins or Haven. Thank you.
  8. Legend is on the port schedule for Athens in September/October 2024. I cruised the Vista in 2016 and it was great. I agree that the ship is also important and we like more dining choices and fun things to do. I would choose Royal or NCL for Europe since they send bigger ships.
  9. I booked a 2024 sailing a couple days ago. Excited to see what decor they leave.
  10. Booked today! Excited to see the Italian-themed design. We've been to these ports before so this is mostly for the ship, length of trip and a couple days in New York.
  11. Blue Iguana - pork tacos I also love the huevos rancheros for breakfast but on my last 2 cruises they didn’t have the egg station so you only got the rancheros Deli - cubano Pizza - margherita pizza MDR - bitter n blanc
  12. I just booked 2 cabins on Celebration for May 2023 and it ain’t cheap! Like someone above I wanted Horizon but was overruled for the new ship.
  13. Yes, this is exactly what we did a few weeks ago. The room has a small fridge but I do not know about the medical cooler.
  14. Following! Looking for a RCCL specific itinerary for a couple big 2024 birthdays.
  15. Still, they should NEVER have announced any change until they had information from ALL the countries. It was not fair to release this information to the public To send emails to everyone booked no matter where their cruise was going. This was a clusterfluck of major proportions and I hold all the top Carnival brass right up to old Donald himself responsible. I have literally been defending Carnival on several threads lately but I think I am done. This is my line in the sand. Other cruise lines have not backpedaled which means there is something fishy going on at Carnival.
  16. And I still say Carnival should not have made a public announcement or emailed people until they had actually updated their policy in full. That is my opinion as someone who is affected negatively by this change.
  17. Maybe Carnival shouldn't have told everyone we did not need one then. Frankly, it's crap like this that pisses off customers. I have not returned to many companies over policies that I did not like.
  18. I am so mad they flip-flopped on this! If I wasn't past final payment I would probably cancel in protest. So ridiculous to get our hopes up and now we have to still find and pay for a test.
  19. Please do NOT listen to CruizinSusan70. I have been on 10 Carnival cruises with 1 in Europe. I have also done about 7 land trips to Europe in 6 countries. I am not as well-traveled as some but I think I can give good advice. We are also booked on Pride next May for the 12 day Barcelona to Dover. I cruise Carnival for the value I get for my money. I have been on the smallest ships and some big ones too. My cruise family is 3 generations including my mother and my kids. We all enjoy our cruises. We do not "party". The Pride would not be my first choice only because we have found we like the bigger ships with more "stuff" for my now college age kids (ropes course, waterslides, etc). They also enjoy trivia and sun worshipping on the pool deck so no one will be bored. This trip is about the ports and experiences on land. The ship is our transportation and bed. I have looked at all the other mainstream cruise lines. I have compared dollar for dollar and you can't beat Carnival. If I were to book a similar sailing for my family next year on another line it would literally cost me thousands more. That is my excursion, hotel, food, travel money. My family is looking at a special sailing in 2024 that Carnival does not offer. I will suck up the money because it is for a special birthday trip and something we will never do again. We will be back to Carnival after I am sure. I say book the Pride. If you don't like it you will know and never have to cruise that ship, Carnival, whatever again.
  20. Yes, in Europe tap water is not served. You are expected to purchase bottled water (still or sparkling) or wine (which is less expensive than a soda here sometimes). In France if you ask for a carafe d'eau they will bring a small bottle of tap but it's barely enough to get you through a meal. This is just a different way of living and should not be looked down on. I'm sure when European's come here and see our outrageous portion sizes they are appalled too. We love travelling to Europe and have been to several countries and experienced wonderful food, sites and experiences.
  21. This thread has been very helpful. I am looking at a 2024 Mediterranean cruise for a big birthday celebration for myself and my mom. Unfortunately, Carnival is sticking with their Europe model of not doing the Med until Sept/Oct and we will have 2 (or 3) college age kids travelling with us so it must be while they are on summer break. Also, our birthday's are in June so we want to get as close to those dates as we can. I have ruled out NCL because they have no sea days on any of their 2024 itineraries. I also don't think MSC is for us even though we are fine with "Europe" and have done many land trips. I am looking at Princess and Celebrity with the possibility of Royal as well. I prefer the newer, larger ships because we do like to have activities on sea days.
  22. All I have to say is we did it once (also to try to save a bit of money) and we went right back to balconies.
  23. I’ve had this issue for years. I tried to calll and would get sent to IT. They would “fix” it they said. Nope. Every single booking has my sister’s address even though I have always made all bookings and we only shared a room one time. it will never get fixed and you will just have to ignore it.
