  1. I’ve never been to Fairbanks, our cruise was round trip from Seattle. Sorry, maybe someone else will be more helpful.
  2. We are at the first port, Ketchikan, right now and it’s hot! Upper ~60’s and clear, but we broke a sweat strolling around town. The ship is a comfortable temperature, except muster on Friday, terribly hot and stuffy inside. We have T-shirts, Polarfleece, and rain jackets. All have been worn. Nobody seems to get dressed for dinner, so it’s pretty relaxed.
  3. Great advice. I prefer going at my own speed and interests in a port, also. Did you reserve the car rental in advance or at the port?
  4. We are there a week later and have the same question. None of the expensive ship tours seem interesting enough or appropriate for us. Looking forward to seeing the replies to your post...
  5. We are also on the May 17th Solstice cruise. We enjoyed our first cruise on the Solstice in January 2009, going to the Caribbean. Our travel agent says Brent Nixon will be on our sailing. Very excited to see Alaska for the first time!
  6. Hi, we are really enjoying your review and photos. We were on one of the first Solstice cruises, also, to the Caribbean. Best cruise we have taken up to now. My mother in law footed the bill, so I don’t remember the restaurant situation. Which ones charge extra? We want to do the Alaska cruise this September for our 30th anniv. Thanks! Peggy
