  1. The first three reported cases in Iowa may have been from this ship, https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/health/2020/03/08/coronavirus-iowa-kim-reynolds-cases-covid-outbreak/4954032002/

The three people, who live in Johnson County, tested positive for the virus after returning March 3 from a cruise that traveled through Egypt, Reynolds told reporters at an evening news conference.

    {snip}

The three were on a cruise

The cruise that the three Iowans were on ran from Feb. 17 to March 2, according to Gerd Clabaugh, director of the Iowa Department of Public Health. All three returned to their residences on March 3. They later sought health care services after feeling ill and were sent home.

"The three are currently isolated in their homes," Clabaugh said. "Public health and health care partners are doing what they're trained and equipped to do to protect patients, themselves and the community."

Officials described one of the individuals who tested positive as middle-aged, between 41 and 60 years old, and the two others as older, between 61 and 80 years old. They said two had underlying health conditions and one did not.

My friend did a daypass at an all inclusive that had a lazy river and swim up bar... anyone know which one I’m talking about?  It has a lovely beach and pool, free buffet, and free frozen drinks.  Approx 6 years ago it was $60ish per person.  He can’t remember the name...

Royalton Blue Waters/White Sands has all of these things. I went in March 2018, booked through a third-party site, transportation from Falmouth port was included, it was only about 10 minutes away.

  3. I've been on Norwegian Dawn, Getaway and most recently the Escape last year when I was 48. I also work at a university so I go during spring break. None have a race track like the three newest ships. The Dawn is most similar to the ships you have been on before, but I had a great time on all three cruises. On the Escape I did not do the pool deck or slides, but I thoroughly enjoyed the spa and also spent some time in Spice H20 (adults only during the day) as well as the Waterfront on deck 8. It was actually the most relaxing of the three cruises I have been on even though it was the biggest ship. The cruise is what you make of it. If you want to stay away from crowds it is easy enough to do. You might look to get Vibe passes (might have a different name depending on the ship) to have an adults only more private/secluded location with guaranteed sundeck access.

I removed Tapatak from my phone today.  No loss.  They have recently started charging me for the use of it (0.99/month.  It won't break me, but it is the principle).  I logged onto the CC website directly with no problem and it is completely mobile friendly.  I was even able to add a shortcut to my home page, so I am good.

The day the new website was released I couldn't get it on my phone, but no problem today.  They did announce from the beginning that it would not be available as an app since the new version would be mobile friendly, so the loss of Tapatalk should not be a surprise to anyone.

Tapatalk Pro or VIP costs money but you can use the free version without paying anything, you just see ads. You may have inadvertently hit a button to subscribe to the ad-free version, they do ask about it quite a bit. You should  email Tapatalk to unsubscribe as just deleting the app likely won't do that.

Originally, the CC announced the CC app would no longer be available, nothing was mentioned of Tapatalk itself until today, I believe. I had no idea the CC app was actually a branded skin of Tapatalk as I never used it. I am posting this at lunch from my work computer, not using CC as much as I won't check it at home since the new site is not mobile-friendly (as they claim) and Tapatalk still isn't working. Mobile-friendly means a lot more than just resizing windows to fit on the mobile screen. They haven't done much more than that.

There is no access via Tapatalk or the CC app as mentioned in Laura's original announcement.

The new site is designed to be mobile friendly

Wrong. The original announcement said the CC app would go away but said nothing about Tapatalk. It's a simple plug-in so not activating it is just being hostile to the users of this site. And this site absolutely is not mobile -friendly.

Please install the plugin for Tapatalk to work with the new boards.   You will lose the majority of those users everyday use of the boards, which helps promote these boards.

Tapatalk users like myself will not struggle with your new site without Tapatalk   It’s painful.

You willl be losing the word of mouth advertisement for this site, as we all recommend others here.

So, if you feel this is a business decision not to use Tapatalk to not lose on advertising, you would be wrong.  You will still be losing, as we won’t be here and we won’t bring in more new users, who could look at your ads.

Exactly, I used to promote Cruise Critic on both Reddit and Facebook groups. If Tapatalk integration doesn't return I'll go to those sites only for my cruise discussion fix.

  7. i emailed Tapatalk support and they said they sent the CC forum admin a notification about the plug-in issue, and what needs to be done to correct it. They said we should report the same to the CC forum admin as requests from members often get looked into more quickly. I hope the forum admins realize how beneficial Tapatalk is. I use my computer at work and Tapatalk on the go. If you get rid of Tapatalk access I will not be spending more time on the "mobile version", I will just use CC less.

Agree with all of the above. Using a web browser on a fully functional mobile device is absurd. Please provide an updated CC app.

They don't need to make their own app, the CC forums will work just fine with the Tapatalk app if the forum admins will install the updated plug-in. Tapatalk admins have emailed CC admins about how to do this. I truly hope CC admins listen to the myriad of members who at times need to access CC  through an app. This site is not what i would call mobile-friendly regardless of what they say.

  11. I can't login on Tapatalk. There is too much scrolling and extraneous stuff to use this forum in a mobile browser, so I'll access only when I am on the computer if I can't login to Tapatalk. That will be rare since I don't often use my home computer since I am on a computer all day at work.

  12. That actually seems to me like a bunch of complimentary dining options.
The three MDRs serve the exact same menu, so other than a different ambience been Manhattan Room and Taste/Savor (which are extremely similar), there isn't much "variety" in complimentary restaurants at any given meal.
  13. I always seem to err on the side of caution, perhaps it's b/c I've seen some pax turned away for not adhereing to the recommended dress code. I prefer the aft dining room and have seen some (especially men) turned away since they're wearing shorts and t-shirts... how well is it enforced, I don't know, since DH and I always dressed at the minimum or better.

It's really not a probem if you don't dress for the aft Mdr (or more formal MDR) since you can just turn around and dine the other, less formal dining room. They serve the same menu from the same galley with the same type of wait staff.............It's all good. Enjoy. :)

On the newer ships there is no "formal" MDR. Only Le Bistro and one other specialty restaurant (e.g., Bayamo or Ocean Blue) require long pants and collared shirt for men. All other restaurants are cruise casual with shorts and t-shirts allowed.
  14. You can ask for the same server each night and make a reservation for the MDR also if you want. On two of our cruises we had a great lunch server the first day and asked where they worked at night, then specifically asked for them when we went to that MDR... they both remembered us (didn't hurt that we left a tip at lunch) and we got great personal service.

  15. Hubby and I have different names, so no matter what we request, they are separate. We are male and female. The stewards change them around within seconds, cheerfully. I think the whole thing is just a guessing game. I would not worry until you are onboard
I also have a different last name then my husband (I'm female) and I've experienced the opposite, the bed has been put together already for us on my cruises.
