  1. Do you have a refundable deposit? If so, remove the cruise protection, then cancel.
  2. I cross-posted this from the fleet report, but you are really lucky to have Half Moon Cay to yourselves today. We were there two weeks ago. Both the Rotterdam and the Nieuw Statendam at the same time. To say it was crowded is a bit of an understatement. Your visit is probably a lot more like the first time I was there and it was just the Maasdam. Have a great day, and we look forward to waving at you as you sail out tomorrow!
  3. I bet Half Moon Cay is going to be wonderful with just the Volendam today. We were there on the Rotterdam and the Nieuw Statendam was also there. Things were a bit crowded. You're getting the "private" private island experience!
  4. The latest you can make pre-cruise purchases of HAL OBC - or any other secondary flow item is 3 or 4 days before sailing. All the purchase info gets transmitted to the ship a few days before sailing. You can still redeem the cards at guest services on the ship after you board
  5. Not at all. We just did it on the Rotterdam earlier this month. (1) We set aside some OBC that we earmarked for the casino. (2) We went to the the casino cage and got cash for our OBC. (3) We took the cash to the table. (4) Turned the cash into chips. (5) Turned the chips into losses. It was slightly slower than lighting the money on fire, but not by much.
  6. Yes, and yes. However, you can bring more - as long as you are willing to pay corkage.
  7. There's a sign asking you to limit your time in the loungers (to 30 minutes IIRC) at a time if people are waiting. People are generally respectful, and since it's a paid, limited pass, they'll enforce the limit if needed. Also, the ceramic loungers aren't something you can reserve with a towel. A towel on a ceramic lounger would clearly be there by mistake and I'd just remove it. If there are unattended personal belongings there, it's obviously time for "lost and found."
  8. You supply your flight information during the check in process. There is a place to input both your incoming and return flight information. You'll supply the airlines, flight numbers and times.
  9. If it's a medical issue, the Lido or room service can accommodate you just about any time they are open.
  10. I hope this helps. Photo #1 is me on a regular night. Photo #2 is me on Orange Party night. Any given night All decked out for the Orange Party Note the huge difference in my attire. Hours are spent on getting ready for the Orange Party.

  13. The Daily for April 4, 2024 Note that the dress code is Casual with a Splash of Orange. That's your cue that it's is Orange Party Night. 2024-04-04-Daily-Rotterdam.pdf
  14. We're booked on the Nieuw Statendam for March 15th - 22nd, 2025. We snagged the same stateroom, Club Orange, and a Retreat Cabana.
  15. We sailed in December 2023 and again in early April 2024. Both times our stateroom keycards were in the mail slot at our room. We picked them up and could order beverages almost immediately. I say "almost immediately" because there was no bar right by our mail slot.
  16. The entertainment for the Rotterdam will be different for the European season. We had Island Magic over Easter. They were excellent, but they're done now until the Caribbean season starts in the fall. This page should answer your questions. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/us/news/2024/April/news-041124-holland-america-line-announces-new-entertainment-lineup-fleetwide
  17. I'd look at the sailing and the time of year. If you are doing one of the 17-21 repositioning cruises from Alaska to Fort Lauderdale or vice-versa, I'd be confident that I wouldn't be bumped. It's not a school holiday and it's a long cruise. On the other hand, I would hesitate to book a quad on a week long cruise during Christmas in the Caribbean or school break for Alaska in the summer.
  18. Usually on dressy / formal nights. However, our room stewards on the Nieuw Statendam in December made them other nights as well.
  19. Yes. I believe that the system looks at adjacent segments when spitting out the warning. It's kind of like the visa notice you get on every cruise. There could be someone booking in the US who is here on a work visa and needs clearance for a Caribbean port; so visa alerts for everyone! I don't think AI has progressed to the point where it can deal with your itinerary, Rich. Every time they try to train it using your bookings as seed data, the computers start sparking, smoke pours out, and the machine bursts into flames. 😉
  20. Starboard will give you better land views - more of the time while sailing. The ship is closer to the land as it travels northbound than it is traveling southbound. As for which side faces land in port, that's not something you'll know with 100% certainty.
  21. The upgrade cost applies to guests #1 & #2. They cost for the 3rd and 4th people won't change. If you have cruise protection, that may increase if the upgrade cost bumps you up to the next break point.
  22. Daily Program from April 1, 2024 And, because we care, JPEGs and a PDF. 2024-04-01-Daily-Rotterdam.pdf
