  1. Guy's Burgers is legendary. The line was always out the door on my last cruise, so I didn't get to try it.
  2. And yes, if you don't feel like dressing up, all other dining venues are open.
  3. 1. Yes, there will be 2 formal nights on the 2nd and 5th night. The attire is "Cruise Elegant", which loosely translates "What's elegant for you". 2. You will be provided with 2 VERY nice beach towels. In fact, they are the only towels allowed to be taken off the ship. If you take one home, it will cost you $22.
  4. The cruise director is Emma Nixon from the United Kingdom. She is by far the best cruise director I've ever had the pleasure to sail with.
  5. She's the last Vista class ship. She'll be sailing out of Long Beach, California. I think she might be setting some new records for a Long Beach cruise port. Biggest and newest, perhaps? And she's going to be very female. A female cruise director AND a entertainment director. She's like the Star Trek: Voyager of cruise ships. In all seriousness, I think I'm going to sail on her ASAP.
  6. If you truly want privacy, ask for a booth. There is really no such thing as privacy with Anytime Dining without it.
  7. Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread. Here is the Chef's Table menu for June 20, 2019 aboard the Carnival Freedom. It was a very special evening.
  8. The bedding that Carnival uses is way too warm, and the rooms can get stuffy at night. I've woken up drenched in sweat before because their comforters are better suited for survival in Antarctica rather than a tropical cruise. So I created this handy-dandy note to give to the room steward. It worked too! Arvin, our room steward, replaced that heavy, hot bedding with something light and refreshing.
  9. There was a really nice bar waiter from Bosnia that I thought delivered above and beyond service. On the last night of the cruise, I tipped him $30 on my last drink bill. Usually I tip people I really like in cash, but I didn't have any on me. His eyes got really big, and he thanked me for the generous tip. So does he really get that $30, or does it go into the tip bank to be split 6 ways to Sunday?
  10. This is exactly why I created the note. Zero privacy. I felt like I was being eavesdropped on.
  11. That’s a great idea, thank you. Will they seat just 2 people in a booth?
  12. This wasn’t a joke. I’m glad someone else doesn’t like sitting practically family style when you just want to unwind and dine with DH.
  13. A nice thing too about a note with cartoon diners is that a lot of MDR staff don’t speak English as a first language. This avoids confusion.
  14. I have Anytime Dining, but one thing I don’t like about it is when you’re seated just an inch apart from fellow diners. I just want to visit with DH, and not feel obligated to visit with fellow diners or moderate what I say because I feel like I’m being eavesdropped on. Do you think this note with a $5 bill on Night One would solve that problem?
  15. Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I’m looking forward to trying some tasty Indian food.
  16. Does the MDR of the Carnival Freedom still offer a secret Indian menu that you have to ask the server for? I'll be sailing on her in a few days, and I never get to try Indian food at home. Thank you in advance.
  17. Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I have about $850 so far in OBC, Cruise Cash, Bar Cash, and Shareholder Benefit. I try to pay for as much as possible in advanced because I hate being stuck with a huge bill at the end of the cruise. I want to walk off the ship with nothing but memories. Please tell me more about the Casino trick for cashing out unused Cruise Cash?
  18. I didn't know this before tonight, but the maximum amount of Cruise Cash I'm allowed to purchase before my 6-day cruise on June 16th is $500. So I've started buying Cruise Cash Bar. I expect that 99.99% of my expenses on the cruise will be bar-related. How do I have the Cruise Cash Bar spent first, and then start dipping into the general Cruise Cash? Do I need to make a bee-line to Guest Services when I get on board the ship? Or do you do it at check-in? Thank you in advance.
  19. I love my parents, but they act strange when we're all on a cruise together. My mom is a food snob, and my dad is a wine snob. I prefer going on a cruise with just my spouse.
  20. She paid for the cruise, so I didn't have any choice.
  21. Here's the full story. We went to the Chop's Grille on a Royal Caribbean ship on the same night there was a large group there. There were about 40 people at one table. I believe a couple was having a destination wedding. A destination wedding. Anyway, the Chop's galley was slammed, and my mom's steak had the taste and consistently shoe leather. She was super upset about it. She made the false equivalency that all premium dining aboard the ship was bad. She demanded that we go straight to the Guest Services desk and cancel the Chef's Table. I was disappointed. Ironically, we ended up eating twice at Giovanni's Table (their Italian restaurant) and loved it both times. I'm sure the Chef's Table would have been delicious.
