  1. We had heard everyone say you don't need a suite on this ship but once we got to the ship and saw the size of the room, etc we knew we needed to move to a room with a veranda. We checked at the desk and after about an hour they let us know they had a "mini suite". It was definitely smaller than our friends regular suite - but we at least had a veranda - if for nothing else it was worth being able to put swimsuits out to dry after snorkeling trips. And we did enjoy going out on the deck in the evenings and morning. It was a pricey move - actually surprised the cost since it was obviously empty. The only downside of moving after on the ship - it was too late for them to move our flight seats even on the land portion that was after the islands.
  2. We are on a cruise this fall that ports in Civitavecchia from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We have spent a week in Rome and been twice from a ship so we would like to find something else to do that day. Anyone have suggestions? Prefer not to rent a car so would prefer places that we can get to either by train or bus. Thanks!
  3. We did go south on the beach - I knew not to stay close to the water taxi. It was really crowded our day and no amount of walking was getting us out of the crowds. It was unfortunate.
  4. My recollection is just two. The entire 14 day cruise the most ships in any port was three.
  5. Was just there two weeks ago. Frustrating waiting for the water taxis to fill up. Beach too crowded to be enjoyed. Was hoping it would be better this time but was actually more crowded than last visit. Won't return!
  6. I can only report on Renaissance - we were just there last week. It was our second time to get a day pass. So relaxing - nice pool and quasi beach area. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Great food and drinks and very reasonable. Clean restrooms. So convenient to the ships.
  7. Just returned from last week from Darkwood Beach - love it. Beautiful, quiet and calm water.
  8. Just returned from two days in Aruba. We took a bus from the ship and departed at the entrance to the road beside the Hilton. Plenty of vendors with umbrellas and chairs - prices were all over the place - we were quoted $90, $60 and $40 for two chairs and one umbrella.
