1. Friends of ours are cruising out of Tampa. Embarkation night the homeowner's association is having an election and our friends wish to join the discussion from the ship. The first stop is Key West so I'd suspect the ship doesn't go tremendously far from land. Does anyone have an idea of how long they should be able to keep cell service? I figure they'll keep it until at least the Sunshine Bridge which should take over two hours to reach.

  3. This cruise was sold out except for inside guarantees and for the past week has not even showed up on NCL's website. I have to guess not many upgrades will be available.
  4. Leaving on the Epic on the 14th of February. Booked in an inside cabin. Offers of $165 per person for a balcony and $225 per person for a mini Suite, but we haven't heard anything with four days to go. Wondering if we should up the bids.
  5. I booked through the Casino at Sea program last week. The only cabin availabile was an inside guaranty. But very shortly thereafter we received the option of bidding for an upgrade to a balcony or mini-suite. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  6. I am cruising on the Epic a week from Saturday. We just booked an inside guaranty cabin last week through the casinos at sea program. (I guess I spent a little too much time in the casino on my last cruise.) They gave me the opportunity to upgrade so I put in bids for both a balcony and mini-suite upgrade. I just looked and my guaranty cabin has changed to a specific cabin. That makes me think that I won't get an upgrade. However, they are still giving me the opportunity to leave my bid as is or modify it. Should I read anything into getting a cabin assignment?
  7. I have an inside booked on the Epic on 2/24/18. I received an invitation to bid for either a balcony and/or a mini-suite. However, when I go online NCL only shows inside cabins available. Do they save cabins for upgrades?

    Never again on Costa Fortuna
Yes, desserts are usually dreadfull. And discontinuing service has an explanation: Carnival Group and many others, in their botton line brands are pushed to put prices down and down any time. Competence is fierce. So there are less and less crew employed serving, about half as in the past years. Rush affects service. It shouldn´t but it does at the end as we are humans. So now half of the crew employed before has to do the same thing which implies a rigid timetable. Setting buffets quickly, serving people, closing them, cleaning, coming down for restaurant, serving more and more tables with an smile, and getting the same amount of money. So they get upset, frustrated, and usually closely scrutinized by the restaurant managers. If they get bad mammers from many passengers, who pushes them even more, the results are not nice. Bad answers, slow service, wrong orders in the tables......so.
Which is why I'd prefer paying a bit more and getting better service!!

    Some B2B questions

Considering a 14 day B2B in November. Wondering about the return to the home port in the middle. How does that work? Do we have to disembark and reboard or can we stay on board? If we stay on board what is there to do? I assume we can just stay in our cabin or one of the public areas. Do they keep the pools open during that time? Is this correct? Thanks, Marc
I found the crew to be extremely courteous. I honsetly can't figure out why so many people comment on the unfriendly crew.
I found the dining & cabin stewards to be very friendly and hard working. During a snafu in the dining room the maitre'd, Salvatore, bent over backwards to right the situation. However, I found some of the front office staff to border on rude.
Just goes to show how very subjective food is. One man's meat is another man's poisson. Ron
Also where experiences occur. I found the food to be good in the dining room but the same could not be said of the buffets. Breakfast was cold. Other cruise lines I've been on have different stations at the buffet; for instance a deli station, pasta station, panini station, stir fry station, etc. This way you had a good variety. On the Fortuna you only had your cafeteria style buffet lines. There were four of them, but each had the exact same items.

    Hidden Places?

Here's a link to a HAL thread from years ago. But it still has a lot of very useful info.
