  1. The new libraries are great! There are many books, mostly new and popular sorts of things. I think that picture was just to show the ONE book that was about Alaska. I will say that if you want a book, go to the library early. I saw people walking out with four and five books. It left the shelves sort of bare in some areas.
  2. Why, oh why do people have conversations on their phone in the Crow's Nest with the speaker on, allowing total strangers to listen in? It is so annoying 🙄 😒 But, the cruise has been very nice overall!
  3. I am on the Nieuw Amsterdam in Alaska right now and tonight, on the main stage, there was a group called, The Rhinestone Cowgirls. They were great and tonight they played a set called Legendary Ladies of Country Music. Lots of classic Country music and we really enjoyed them. It was 3 women singers and a 4 piece band playing with them.
  4. Interesting to read through this since I am also on the NA! We are very much enjoying ourselves, but we never got an invite to the wine tasting yesterday even though we have 5 stars. Maybe they are dividing it up in several groups. We had a tough time with embarkation on Sunday. It was a lot of walking and standing in line. We did wait after the first check in to get a wheelchair for my mom. That helped, but it still made for a long check in process. Food has been good in the MDR, but breakfast took a long time yesterday. We enjoyed meeting new people though. I like the wildlife guy who gave a talk yesterday. I believe his name is Dominic. Happy to be on another cruise!
  5. I had no idea they had two tours! That makes it much more feasible for my mom and I.
  6. We bought some last fall in Amsterdam from the flower market and we just looked for ones that have a sticker that says it's okay to bring into the US. We put them in our luggage when we disembarked in Ft. Lauderdale and the dogs found them so we got pulled aside. It wasn't a big deal - except we felt guilty! - but they just looked them up. I think I'd carry them off next time.
  7. How horrible. Very sad for the crew members and their family.
  8. I do the same thing - paste it into a Word document and then add a column for notes on the various ports.
  9. We were in room 1024 on a 29 day crossing and never had an issue with noise. It's up near the front bank of stairs/elevators. We liked the quiet.
  10. It was really fun to win today! Not sure if I have ever won at bingo on a cruise before!!
  11. We were in Aarhus, Denmark today and it was a wonderful place to visit. We went on a ship excursion to Den Gamle By, which is a very cool museum that contains buildings from the last 700-800 years. It was fascinating to walk around and explore. The cobblestones are pretty tough to walk on though.
  12. Oh, thanks for thinking of us. We figured out a way to mark it. I think she's pretty good now at finding it. See you soon 😊
  13. Maybe, but we spoke with our stewards and they didn't know. In the big scheme of things, it's minor, but needed to vent. Meanwhile, Stockholm is stunning this morning. 😍
  14. Well, I am very upset this morning. Someone stole my cute little sign I had hung up outside our cabin. 😡 It was something I put there to help my mom find our cabin. Who steals a sign?
  15. Yes, we did a tour called 'Helsinki by land and sea'. There were 4 busses for this tour. It was raining here at the pier, but stopped by the time we boarded the ferry type boat for the 90 minute ride around the bay. Saw a bunch of neat buildings on these small islands. Upon docking we had 30 minutes to explore the market and then it was back in the bus to continue the tour. We stopped a couple of times for short times. It was very well done.
  16. We really enjoyed Helsinki today. It was our first visit to this port and, even with the rain, we thoroughly enjoyed it. 😉
  17. We did the HOHO in Copenhagen yesterday too. We walked out to one parked on the street and were able to use our cc. I heard at dinner that the shuttle to the metro was a bad experience. There were many stairs to climb and only one kiosk to purchase tickets. Rhonda
  18. We were on the Eurodam at the end of June and loved it! Sorry this poster had such a bad experience, but it certainly was a lot different than our 7 day Alaska cruise.
  19. We were on the Eurodam on the June 24th cruise to Alaska and we really enjoyed it. We've been on lots of the ships over the years and this ship has become a new favorite. We found it easy to navigate and just a nice size. We came home and booked a cruise on it through the Panama Canal next spring! We found the Pinnacle grill lacking for dinner service, but enjoyed a lunch there. Tamarind was wonderful and the MDR was very good as well. We didn't use the Lido much, but did like the Dive In. Rhonda
  20. I don't know if that deck/room has space for 4. There was a small loveseat that might have made into a bed for one other person. I didn't notice the one in the ceiling, but when I look at the deck plan it says there is one there. On Holland, they really are flat into the ceiling and hard to see. 🙂
