Grand Princess Dec. 20-30 Mexico from San Francisco

My friends were in D736 for the Christmas cruise. They must have done something to the sofa because it was good for us. They may have moved your sofa into to my cabin...D728. It was not good at all. We(8of us) celebrated sail away every day either inside or outside depending on the temps. You are so right about the balcony furniture...much in need of revarnishing. The seat pillows were fine.
  2. After many cruises with Princess, the crew of the Grand Princess was outstanding, from the Passenger Service desk, to the staff in all of the dining venues, to our pleasant and always smiling cabin stewards as well as the ever present Captain. As many have said before... Happy crew.... Happy passengers! It was a joyful trip over the Christmas holidays, even with so many children on board. They were well behaved and it was much appreciated. There were so many things planned for all age groups that you really didn't see many of them. The teenager in our group was busy 24/7. Our cabin was always cleaned to perfection by our cabin steward. The major complaints I have were the terrible pillows and our living room sofa. I would have loved a down pillow which has been available on previous cruises. Our sofa in the living area badly needs to be replaced. When you sat down on the sofa, the cushions fell into the bottom of the hide-a-bed part. The fabric was torn and worn on the corners where the wire springs showed through. It was not a pleasant place to sit for morning coffee or when we had visitors. We were in D728. Embarkation and disembarkation were the smoothest I have ever experienced. I love the new pier Princess has in San Francisco. I will travel out of this port anytime. I just can't wait for the next one. :D

    Linen Shortage

I are hope we have clean sheets when we board the Grand on December 20th. Guess I'll bring my own washcloth just in case.... :0

can we bring own folding chairs 4 balcony???

TABLES...You can always take the table in your cabin and move it to the balcony, then put it back in your cabin at night. We've done it before and will do it again. That covers the table problem. TRAYS...Just use the trays from the Horizon Court... take two for the cabin with food on them to start with... then put one away to keep to use on the little table outside. Trust me...party stuff, maybe, but I'm not taking any furniture with me. :D

I have two sets of friends who will be sailing to Alaska on the July 23 cruise. I would like to know who the captain is on the Golden now and in July. Thanks so much for your help. :)

What is the date of the Sapphire cruise that starts the day after the closing of the London Olympics? Just might think of adding that one if it fits into the plans. Thanks!!!!

    CD Lee Childers

Richard Joseph is by far the most helpful and personable cruise director that I have ever sailed with on 60+ Princess cruises, from South American to Hawaii to...... He has planned wonderful M&G's, parties and luncheons for our CC groups. He doesn't stop there. He makes a great effort to get to know many passengers during each cruise. We always check to see where Richard is before we book our next cruise. A great CD really makes a difference!!!!

    Help for a fibre freak?

There is one street in Buenos Aries that is all yarn stores. I've never seen so many different types of yarns and the colors go on and on.... like all the paint swatches at different paint stores. We had so much fun and hated to leave. I will try to find out the name of the clustered yarn area and report back. I felt the yarns in BA were much better then in the other town you will visit on your cruise. Big City=lots of yarn to buy. Live from the Emerald - Oct. 11, 2009

Thanks for the time you have spent answering all of our questions. Your answers are most helpful... especially the information on the B2B formal nights. Do you know if Princess had a Captain's Luncheon or a cocktail party in the evening instead? If so, do you know what day it was? Thanks in advance for the help. Karen

    Antarctica Cruises

We went to Antarctica in January '07 on the Star and are booked to go again in January '11. It is outstanding! Plan to go before the large ships aren't allowed to enter the Antarctic waters... I'm sure that's coming.
