  1. Hi again, George and Janet Harvey from Seattle are getting organized for each port. Starting at the first port, April 26, in Penang, Malaysia: We will mostly walk thru the Georgetown area and have a lunch reservation at the Indigo @ Blue Mansion at 1 PM (14, Leith Street, George Town, 10200 Penang). We also plan to see the Khongsi Temple on Canon Street. Other than that - walking around to enjoy the fusion of cultures and the jetties near the ship. April 27 in Phuket, we are planning a cruise of Phang Nga Bay with probably walking around old town and maybe getting up to the top of Rang Hill for the panoramic view. Looking forward to this cruise!!! Janet and George harvjf1@gmail.com
  2. Hi We have a Verizon I-phone too. We called Verizon and they had a deal last year for traveling outside the United States. The deal was around $10 per day whenever you use your phone in a port. If you are at sea (no nearby port) or if you choose not to use your phone, then no $10 charge. However, not every port city has a Verizon cell tower so the roaming charges would apply instead of the $10 charge. Verizon provides a list of locations with the $10 per day deal - call them at 611. We found that using google maps took a great deal of data when traveling. This got expensive. Once we used our phone on the back deck of a ship while docked in Vancouver BC (we live in Seattle - not too far away) but we left our telephone "on" and it roamed for all of our incoming email messages - turned out to be very expensive. We hope to download maps for each port city before we leave home. I am taking my I-pad, loaded with books and maps. I plan to connect with family by email and email pics. Instead of postcards, we can send pics to folks who like snail mail by using Postcardly.com I am trying to figure out the best way to pay bills while away for so long - certainly, we would need a secure (not public) connection to our bank. I will call our bank to make sure that the bill-paying service will work while we travel. CMV suggested bringing Euros for ports and Pounds for onboard (Casino). There is not an ATM on the ship. 3. Hi We are Janet and George Harvey from Seattle, Washington,. USA; looking forward to the Vasco Da Gama itinerary. We are viewing You Tube films about each port of call. Then we review the ship's excursions and try to decide what works best. Tonight we decided on a private tour guide for Casablanca - in an air-conditioned mini-bus that holds 8+ travelers. We want to see Rabat, have lunch at a Casablanca restaurant "Lascala" or at "Nkoi", visit the Souk, maybe walk on the boulevard, and have coffee in any 5-star hotels with nice bathrooms. Finding a musical concert or folk performance would be a bonus. We believe that a smaller group will allow flexibility. We are in good shape and well-traveled although we are age 75 and 71. Now, we are looking for cheerful folks who would want to share the mini-bus to Rabat and going around in Casablanca, with a nice lunch too. Please email if that sounds like you. Harvjf1@gmail.com. Thank you.
  4. Janet and George Harvey from Seattle, Washington (summers) and California Desert (winters) have signed up for this maiden voyage. It is our first CMV cruise. We just returned from an Asian cruise on Princess; however, this CMV itinerary will visit different ports. :) We are starting to view You Tube films about our CV ports as well as reading excursion reviews. We are flying Japan Airlines from San Francisco to Singapore, arriving April 18. Looking forward to a really great cruise and to meeting and greeting other Cruise Critic folks.
