  1. We have been traveling Celebrity since my 50th birthday on the Infinity in Hawaii in 2002 in a Sky Suite. We are Elite and close to elite Plus. Lots of great trips and we booked a Caribbean cruise in Feb of 2023 in an aft corner sky suite on Reflection. It took more than 24 hours for the Butler to come to our room. Honestly, that was not a big deal for us but when she did come, informed us that our butler did not arrive to the ship and so they would be working us in. Again that  wasn’t a problem .  I asked if I could have a latte delivered every morning at 9 o’clock ,there was a frown and a response that “I’ll try to do that.”Never happened. We get up early, so we just got our own.Never contacted Butler again.I did not report it or say anything else because I thought maybe there was an issue with the Butler’s. After all the reports of the Butler service changing now I understand. Luminia   was  very good as always as the rest of the ship.We decided to book an additional cruise in 2024 in the Caribbean for an easy getaway and as we truly do love those corner aft sky suites and we knew Butler service wasn’t that good.I got home and started going over the shortcomings, but also all the services of Celebrity, and decided to look around at other Lines for Caribbean cruise ..long story short, I found what I thought was a much better price on Regent than Celebrity  with all amenities and a 430 sq ft room with balcony, tours, tips, transfers, drinks of any kind..No butler on Regent pricing on the catagory I booked, but service was great without one on previous sailings.I have traveled Regent three other cruises so relatively new  to them. I canceled my Celebrity cruise and lost deposit as I knew I would.First time to cancel with them other than Covid. This little experience is just to let everyone know before you cruise any lines, keep checking and checking. I still appreciate Celebrity and all those wonderful cruises, but maybe Regent… I may love you more!

What we are having to do on our Barbados to Barbados cruise in Feb on Splendor book our own air , transfers, and hotel. Regent is not providing hotels in Barbados so there therefore no transfers either. You can use their air but why would anyone do that if nothing else is provided. They still have all offered on this cruise website. We are flying to Miami spending the night at the airport and catching the flight to Barbados the next morning. We booked the Barbados Hilton and I sent them an email regarding a driver for transfers and he contacted me right away. We will be using him for all transfers. Hopefully it works out. We will have to take the 4:30 flight out back to Barbados so spending another night in Miami at the airport hotel and catching an early morning flight back to Texas. These are all American flights nonstop.
This cruise is a real pain. Getting to and from Barbados is a real pain. Regent I believe is dropping Barbados as a debarkation or embarkation port. To expensive. The 300 for hotel credit no way covers the hotel and the breakfast and transfers. Regent seems to be falling behind on customer service but continues to raise prices.

Thank you for the information. I will be able to speak with Regent Air  Concierge in about 8 days regarding our travel for the March 7, Barbadoes to San Juan itinerary. May be following your example.

  3. I have sailed in Haven 3 times and Celebrity retreat  many more. Enjoyed the Haven but not the rest of the ship. Smell of smoke on several decks was horrible. We thought the bar in Haven was great and restaurant was very good except menu never changed on 17 night cruise. On our last Escape Haven suite several drawers were broken and were not repaired after we requested it.We like Celebrity for a great getaway to the Caribbean. Although lately I have heard several complaints about the food and the service on Celebrity, we were just on a February 2023 in a sunset sky suite, and found the service to be up to par as it has been in the past. We did just sell on Regent in May with a very good price point. We felt it compared better for what we got than Celebrity or NCL. Shop around!
    Enjoy your Cruise!

Hmmm, just notified that our scheduled stop in Great Stirrup Cay has been changed to Freeport, Bahamas.  This is May 1.  Ship sails May 5.  No excursions listed so far.  This is after previously losing Fernandina Beach to Jacksonville and changes to our Hamilton, Bermuda stop.  What in the world?

We will be joining you on this cruise. Very disappointed in the many changes.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are scheduled to depart this Friday on Navigator from Miami to Montreal. We just received an email from Regent with another itinerary change (I have lost count of the number of port and arrival time changes). Today, they cancelled Great Stirrup Key and substituted the Bahamas. Obviously our excursion has been cancelled. We have not received notification of any new excursions in Freeport.

We just got it too. Never had this many changes. We have done 5 cruises with Viking and two with Celebrity ships since ships started sailing after Covid. No problems at all.

This has happened off and on over the years at least since we started cruising Regent 12 years ago. Not so much precovid but it did happen. It happened once this past Dec after we boarded. Really Regent can’t control the tours canceling anymore than it can the airlines canceling you flight to the ship. There are only so many tours available in each port.

Sometimes a tour was added after we boarded or a full tour opened up. Do check once you board and the day of the tour for no shows.

There was nothing open in Dec so hired a taxi to take us around and found a place to have lunch.

Thank you so much for your response. My concern was that we will get on the ship and there’s nothing available.

  7. I have a different view. I have been traveling on cruises since the early 90s. And have also done river cruises. One of the nice things about having the infinite balconies is that you can sit in your bed and raise that glass and enjoy. I have been on quite a few cruises where it was absolutely too hot to get out on the balcony. What I am seeing now is it is a generational perspective. What is great is celebrity is offering a choice…infinite balconies, and also a true balcony.

  8. I have traveled with Regent several times and  also with the number of other cruises. We are leaving on the fifth of May on the Navigator and this morning I got a notice from Regent for the second time an additional tour has been canceled. I was told to go online and book an additional tour. Of course, at this late date, there are not any tours. I did call Regent and was told that they had no solution at this point. Has anyone else had this problem?

  9. I have traveled on Viking and Regent in the last five years.Five cruises on Viking since 2018, one Regent. Viking opened up first after Covid with restrictions that worked for us. My most recent cruise was on Viking in August  Reykjavik to Bergen. I absolutely saw a difference in dining. As an example those delicious crab legs that were always huge before 2021 , now very small.  In the specialty dining that ribeye is no longer as thick.I am cruising again on Celebrity in suite in Feb after 14 cruises  because we have seen such a decline in Viking.I appreciate the difference and enjoy them all. As for as Regent we have not sailed with them since 2018 but have a May 2023 booked…. Will see.

And no one has mentioned non-Christians who do not celebrate Easter at all. As a majority of Viking cruisers are American, Thanksgiving is acknowledged. We were on the Ultimate Tuscany extension few years ago and had a Thanksgiving dinner at our villa.

I did not mean in any way for this to address the people that are non-Christians. My simple question was is  there a celebration for Christians in Naples Italy.

  15. We will be in Naples on Viking for Easter. We know that there is usually a non denominational service but does Viking do anything else?  We did a River cruise during Easter in Switzerland and there were chocolate eggs everywhere with a lovely buffet and a list of Churches and times of Easter services.

  16. We have done 40 plus cruises and find we take less and less.On our November 2021  cruise 11 day Athens to Athens we  took one 28 inch checked  and my small cloth carry on for meds, travel documents  and overnights needs, we never take rolling carry on.Our room was a DV 4 right across from laundry which we have had before and enjoyed. ? We will be traveling in April on a 14 day Barcelona to Venice and plan on taking basically the same bags.
