Battery Tap lights left over from our RV travels, two levels of light by touching the center button. We keep one on each nightstand, not in the bathroom because occasionally I get up during the night for a reason other than the bathroom.

We booked a 3 for free cruise in the past and simply had out TA place a No Upgrade tag on paperwork, We happily accepted our free gratuities and the free specialty dinner. No problem at all, We had picked a cabin we liked and weren't anxious to give it up.

Do they even have a pizzeria on the Ruby Princess?
-
When you bring them on board it just boxed as from the store or in a tote bag perhaps labeled with a luggage tag? What is the easiest way?

When purchasing a future cruise credit, while on board, will one always get a reward of onboard credit? Can't quite remember but think I always have.
-
Thank you, I actually don't think I would do a nonrefundable cruise anytime.

Back in April, someone posted information that the Ruby was having a new (trial?) menu. Is there anyone who would have current news regarding the menu?

While on my upcoming 2018 cruise I plan to purchase 2 FCC ( for hubby and me) receive OBC, then book a cruise. What if a month later I have to change the date of that cruise because we are coordinating with another couple, do I still keep my OBC and will the FCC be moved for the deposit be moved to the new booking?

How about new TV's for he Ruby?

Thanks for your kind suggestions, with some of the other comments here, I hesitated to ask for favors regarding the seating. However it works out we can't wait to get aboard.

Got it....we have some friends who had a couple traveling with them who did this....did not make sense that they would not take TD instead....[/qu
Perhaps like myself, and the other 64 people on my upcoming cruise they did choose TD and were waitlisted.

I am a bit resentful regarding the comments about "gaming the system" and "feeling entitled". My problem was not booking my cruise early enough and for having a partner that isn't able to stand in line for a long time. Gee, I sure wish I wasn't on the long waitlist for my first choice MD-fixed time dining. We certainly will call and ask for an AT reservation but if we don't get one we will make do and enjoy our cruise. But please understand why some people are hopeful for a set dinner time.

What time are most of you boarding to be able to lunch in the MDR? We have almost been provided a tour bus by TA and never arrive until MD is closed. This time boarding in Seattle by ourselves. I wonder what time we should arrive, the lunch menu will be a great treat.

We like formal nights but after doing it a number of times and having all the pictures we are thinking of not doing it next time only because my husbands adds so much weight to his suitcase. The shoes, jacket etc. We were thinking of looking into the "rent a tux" if they still do that on board?
We did rent a tux on two different cruises. Tux arrived within an hour of our arrival in our cabin, fit as expected. Hubby was definitely a minority in choosing to wear a tux. I didn't want the extra weight in the suitcases. The price went up considerably between the two. I believe the price was about $80 the first time and at least twice that the second.

That's the part that aggravates me. Just because I don't want to haul fancy clothes to sit and eat dinner in, I probably will lose the opportunity to enjoy lobster, crab and or beef steak. True that we might be offered hamburgers for a dinner meal? As mentioned on the new Ruby menu. Definitely wearing my jeans to that meal. If true, Princess make up your mind, casual or formal.

I am wondering if where the cruise is heading makes any difference as to what people choose to wear. Hawaii cruises seem to be more casual, our Panama cruise was sort of the same. Lots of people seem to choose not to attend the formal night in the MDR. Lots of empty seats. My hubby is not a suit guy so twice we rented a tux. That worked out fine, my clothes are easy to turn into dressy. Our next cruise is a short coastal and I am hoping it will be pretty casual. At my age shorts are not a choice, so I should be fine. Has anyone observed any difference between Anytime Dining and those with a guaranteed dining hour? We plan on choosing the buffet a few times but I miss the attention by waiters and the choices of formal night. Next cruise we might do formal again, Love it all.

I'm pretty confused now, we have purchased what I called a Future Cruise Deposit (FCD) several tiems for hubby and I, onboard, then used it as deposits with my TA, within the allotted time, for another cruise. I believe this was in lieu of a 10% of the cruise cost which would be more. How does that differ from the (FCC), Future Cruise Certificate?
PS. At our age non refundable anything, cruise, hotel etc. is not for us, not ready to take a chance.

Anyone know whether it is true that on port days the MDR's are closed for lunch? We are doing a cruise soon and will probably be staying on board most days. I know there are plenty of other places to eat, just curious if that is true.
-
Thanks, everyone, such great information, yes we are close to SF, the BVE might be fun plus the opportunity to buy the FCD.

We are planning to purchase two FCC for a 2019 cruise. Since we decided this, we have a couple of relatives that want to cruise with us for their first time. Is it possible for us to purchase two more and use them for our relatives? We would be planning our cruise so we can be in adjacent cabins but different credit accounts.

@ voljeep For us, the 5th deck dining room is difficult when trying to leave. My husband is somewhat limited in using stairs, many like him need to use the elevators. It can take a long time to exit that lower level dining room. Not our favorite and has nothing to do with the length of the walk.

Princess cruise Sept 22, 2018 stops in San Francisco. Wine country tours to Napa wine area.

We are waitlisted for Any Time dining on the Ruby, West Coast cruise. To choose the time do we call the Dine number? Which dining room is designated Any Time dining?

We were on the Island after the refit and was disappointed that the ship did not have the International Cafe, plenty of other places to eat but I always enjoy the cafe. The only place we found it too crowded was the Princess showroom. One must get there 40 minutes before showtime. Standing room only where allowed near showtime.

Xeriod-That is quite a distance from Monterey attractions and Fisherman’s Wharf. Was there any sort of transport available?
