  1. We hopped a tour right outside of the port area and I am sure we paid them in US dollars. I also have a vague memory of making a purchase while on this tour and I am pretty sure I just used regular US currency. Hope that helps!

  2. The machines on CB were not the newest, but not the oldest either. It also isn't the biggest ship casino. There are games from penny slots to dollar slots. I mostly played the pennies so that's all I can comment about. They had a number of games that are 2 games in one - a primary game and a secondary game, side by side of the screen. Those had a lot of action and were pretty fun. Hope that helps.

  3. I just got off the CB after a 7 day family vacation. Our last cruise was Celebrity in March of 2013. I mention this as information only - just my opinion - no flames please. There was more noticeable smoking and smoking areas on Princess compared to Celebrity. On the CB, we found we often had to walk through the casino to get to the piazza. The air handling in the casino was sub standard and it smelled of smoke in there continuously, worse during the busy hours. There is also a smoking area right outside the Café Caribe. Every time the doors would open, smoke would blow in. It did not ruin my cruise, but was a noticeable difference between these 2 lines. If you are significantly bothered by smoke, it is something to keep in mind.

  4. We did a tour through Celebrity last year that was very good. It was called "4x4 Adventure and Green Monkey Encounter. It was a very nice tour of the island and ended up at the green monkey sanctuary. I would highly recommend this one or one like it. RCI probably offers something like it. Sorry I can't be more help but since no one responded, I thought I would take a stab at it.

  5. We will be boarding her on September 13th. I really enjoyed your review. We have planned a surprise cruise for my husband and brother in law along with our kids. It was helpful to read the review as we are now in the "nervous" part of the plan, wondering if we can really pull this off!

  6. To Rhonda and Dale. I too am 60 years old with a metabolism that is a really slug-bug! I find I have had to cut way back on the carbs. The weeks I do the best have the least in simple carbs. Weigh in is Thursday and I have had 3 weeks in a row of good losses. I hope week 4 won't stop the good run.

  7. We are going there in a couple of weeks so I have done some research. It is primarily a beach island. There is a large poo right on the beach with an upbeat party type atmosphere. It is called Maragritaville. There is no charge to use the pool, loungers and such. I have seen conflicting rrports about the snorkeling - some say terific, others say not that great. Apparently there is not much to see/do away from the beach. There is an area regularly visited by stingrays. You can get san excursion there. The water is pretty shallow, you canstand up there and it is pretty close to the shore. Check on the Grand Turk board for more info.

  8. Checking in. A small reminder that life is short and can change in an instant. We brought my mom to the hospital 2 days ago for stomach pain. Since then she developed some heart problems and seems to be slipping away. DS and I getting weighed today didn't make the cut. We are not getting in much nutrition but staying at the hhopsital with diet soda and fruit when we can make ourselves eat. Will keep you posted. One request - please hug your loved ones today, life is short.

  9. I have always said I am "5 feet tall" but a recent measurement n the doctor's office revealed 5feet 1 inch. Every time I look at the WW goal chart I wish I was 5' 6" lol. I need to lose at least 10 more before I can look at goal setting. Everyone is doing so well, we should be very proud. Hockeyluvr, glad your mom is better. Have a terrific cruise and we'll be looking forward to seeing you back!

  10. I think the thing that helped me most on my last cruise was to have a plan in my head in advance of getting on board. I had ideas in my head of what great choices I could make that I would also enjoy. This was things like fresh fruit I didn't have to wash and cut. I made a salad everyday at lunch and I never had to wash or cut any of the fixin's. We ate no bread at dinner and shared a baked potato with our main dish. But the key is getting a plan in mind ahead of time. I enjoyed ice cream once daily and kept very busy. I gained 3 pounds in 11 days. For most of us, cruising is only 2-3 weeks per year. Getting on board with a strategy ahead of time is the best strategy.

  11. I am a Thursday weigh in girl too. So far I have just been lurking your posts but getting great inspiration. I hope you don't mind if I "join". Lost 1.5 this week. After being on prednisone, I struggled with small, undeserved gains the previous 2 weeks so I was relieved to have a nice loss. I had slacked off on tracking and have gone back to it using e-tools. It is keeping me more focused. Ate out tonight and skipped all bread - yea for me. Hope you all have a terrific weekend!
