  1. Our experiences on Seabourn so far have been on the Encore and Ovation.  We are shortly going on the Quest and we would be interested in what are considered to be the main advantages and disadvangages.  I know that we will miss the Keller Bar but we are hoping there are some plusses other that the passenger count.

Any views would be most appreciated.

  2. Today I was able to successfully claim my 'perk'.

I received an e mail confirmation and was told that they my claim has been sucessfully submitted to Seabourn and they would be in touch within the next five working days. Presumably to confirm that Seabourn has applied it to my account.

When I received confirmation of the eigible benefits it covered all of the Carnival Cruise Lines. I would guess that this system is being applied to all of their fleet.

I think it is safe to say that this new procedure has been adopted for Carnival's benefit and not for that of their clients.

  3. Just an update.  I received a response from Stockperk this morning telling me that they have a problem with their App.which they are currently dealing with.

They will inform me when they have resolved it and then I will be able to claim the perk.

  4. Thanks Tooty Jane. I have the App which acknowledges my holding of Carnival Stock.  The problem I have is when I go into Eligible Perks it tells me that there are no perks found.  This is despite an e mail telling me to go to App and download the perk.

I will have to contact them to get it sorted.

  5. I have received conformation of my Carnival shareholding by e mail.  It tells me to go the Stockperk App.to redeem the benefit and I cannot find any information on their App. to allow me to do this do this.  Can anyone advise me how to proceed. Thanks in anticipation

  6. I have just tried to get the shareholder benefit applied to a forthcoming cruise and have discovered that there is now a new procedure in place.  With immediate effect you now have to upload your proof of share ownership on the StockPerks App.

They will no longer accept any faxed, emailed or hard copy proof of eligibility.

I have followed the new procedure and I am awaiting confirmation.

Interestingly they only requested my full name and e mail address.  They did not ask for the booking details of my forthcoming cruise.

I will post the result of my application as it progresses.

  7. Thank you all for your replies.  I am fully aware of the pros ad cons of advance rail tickets and the various routes.  The ship is due in to Dover at 7.00am.  What I am trying to establish is when the disembarkation process begins.  I understand there may be delays but under normal circustances when am I likely to be able to get off the ship.

  8. Just a word of warning.  Count your vouchers when you receive them.  The last package I bought was 12 bottles on the Commodore plan.  The second voucher was missing.  For those who have bought the package will know that one cannot fall out by accident.

I insisted upon and received a new booklet containing 12 vouchers but did not receive a satisfactory explanation as to how it had happened.

  9. Well I like to arrive on the first day with my barrow load of cash to ensure that all the staff and crew are properly tipped in addition to their wages and other perks.

Everyone mentions the cabin steward, waiters and other dining room staff but I always seek out the more deserving.  Those staff who maintain the plumbing , electrics and general maintenance all receive my appreciation.

The painting crew up on deck also receive my consideration however I did once withhold the gratuity when I saw a painter miss a bit.  No mention on here of the ship's cat.  What do you think the reason is for the ship not being overrun by vermin.  Toddles definitely warrants a bowl of milk each day and I also bring on a few worming tablets as I understand that they are not easily obtainable on board.

i always take care of the robotic barman and ensure that he has the latest software updates.

it's lovely to see how many of the ships crew turn up outside my cabin on the last to wish me well.  I obviously hand out any remaking cash at this point and increase the auto gratuities at reception before it is too late.

My wife has suggested that I may wish to reconsider the amount that I tip and that we could afford another cruise.

I will have none of it.

  10. I fully understand the reason for the poster's question.  If I wore a tux and I was surrounded by a group in casual clothing I would not feel too comfortable.

i would also be interested in the numbers of those in formal dress on cruises out of the UK this summer as we also have a cruise booked.  It has been widely reported that the dress code is simply a suggestion and not enforced.

I think it is important to know what will be the norm when it comes to dress so you can pack accordingly.  I was hoping that this thread was not going to be another dress code discussion but some people can't help themselves.

I will be looking forward to answers to the poster's question from those who will be sailing over the next few weeks.

  11. We have a June Departure and I sent a print out from my H & L Account about three weeks ago.  I received a response after about 7 days saying that the OBC had been credited.

i signed on and true to their word it was there.

  12. Good point made in taking your first glass in with you.  We shall do that.

We have never yet failed to see off at least a bottle of wine during the course of dinner. I was wondering whether the waiter may be amenable to leaving a bottle and applying the appropriate number of glasses to our account. To me it would seem to be the simplest option.

We both enjoy a drink but 15 alcoholic drinks in a day - I don't think so!

The $15 dollar corkage charge is reasonable and if I particular wanted a bottle, I would source my own.  Even with a 25% discount it would still grate me to buy a bottle when we already have the package.

Thanks for your replies. I will sleep better tonight noting your reassurances.

  13. Forgive me if this has already been discussed, if it has I can't find it.

With the drinks package I am aware that wine is served by the glass and not by the bottle but how does this actually work in the restaurants.  We do enjoy a few glasses of wine with dinner and I was wondering whether your glasses are topped up or do you have to look around when you are empty.  The drinks package sets a limit on the number of alcoholic drinks so I guess topping up is not feasible.

We have done all inclusive cruises but this is our first time we have had a drinks package. I would appreciate a heads up on how it works in practice as the thought of going thirsty at dinner is filling me with dread.

  14. We are also on this cruise.  We have three nights in a Simply Silversea Hotel prior to the cruise and had confirmation that it was the Hilton approx. 2 weeks ago.  We delayed booking our departure Covid Test until a couple of days ago and glad that we did as it saved us a couple of bob.  We are having a rapid antigen at Heathrow Airport the day before the flight as we are staying over the night before.  We arranged it with Express Testing at a cost of £35 each and their testing is apparently acceptable by the Barbados Authorities.

We also had the e mail from Silversea stating that a PCR Test was required prior to boarding.  I queried this with my TA, they contacted Silversea and were told that Silversea would be providing antigen tests prior to boarding free of charge and that the PCR test would be unnecessary.

This weekend we will be tackling the BIM safe ap. and the immigration forms, can't say i'm looking forward to this.  Foreign travel should be added to that list of most stressful experiences along with bereavement, divorce etc!!!

    Happy days.

  15. Can anyone please help with which hotel Silversea are currently using in Barbados.  We are only five weeks away and cannot get any information on our 3 night pre cruise stay.  The only feedback I am getting is that it will be coming soon.  There have been a number of cruises out of Barbados this year and I find it hard to believe that they have not made arrangements at this stage. Thanks in anticipation.
