  1. Thanks for the info. I have a recent iPhone, but had trouble trying to do the online eSIM when we were recently in Spain for three weeks. We are doing a Transatlantic prior to UK docking at Southampton, so I wouldn't want it to start till we are there, not useful on the Atlantic crossing. Regarding Oyster, isn't there a daily cap when using it? If so, does that apply to contactless cards? Pls advise!
  2. Arriving SH on 12 May 2024 and will need to purchase and install new SIM card. Are there stores near the coach station that sell/install UK SIM cards? Also will need to purchase Oyster Cards that day. TIA!
  3. Dress shoes are bulky and heavy. We purchase used ones at a thrift store and just leave them on the ship at the conclusion of our cruise. On the two weeks following, we don't have to manage them for our casual touring days. At US $ 7 a pair they are a great value!
  4. We travel quite a bit, and are taking QM2 from NY to Southampton in May, and then spending two weeks in the UK, culminating in seeing Eric Clapton in Manchester. Since shoes are bulky and heavy, and we travel with minimal luggage, (ie carryons) we purchase our cruise shoes at a thrift store and then just leave them on the ship. We won't be using them in the UK, and DH brings a dark suit and two shirts and ties--he'll take smart/nice casual apparel for travel around the UK including the two shirts. Flying home with less than we took always works for us. Jeans are usually too heavy and take up too much room for us.
  5. Anyone know what the QM 2 May 5-12 2024 Gala themes are? TIA!
  6. We're going to Manchester to see Eric Clapton and getting there on the QM2 in May. Is it generally warm enough for shorts/skorts/swimsuits on deck during the day? Or should we pack a down jacket/hat/gloves/long pants for deck sitting? We try to travel with carryons and one suitcase to share, so attire is a concern for us. Thank you!
  7. We're interested in booking Sea Cow, but the water temp is expected to be 80F. Is it too cold to snorkel without a wet suit? Would hate to book and be unable to snorkel. TIA!
  8. uh oh....... could be a tough cruise....!
  9. My DH drinks only Pepsi! Can we buy Pepsi somewhere before we board? Thanks!
  10. Well, we are scheduled to board at 1:40, which gives us about four hours to taxi there! And given that embarkations are usually late... Any further suggestions now? TIA
  11. We are arriving at SeaTac June 3 at 10 am for a Pier 91 Alaska cruise that day. Since we have time to spare, suggested activities might be the Salmon Hatchery and/or the Underground Seattle Tour. We will each have a suitcase and backpack. Should we do one or other other on June 3 and the remaining one June 10 when we disembark? Our flight leaves SeaTac at 3:42 pm. Which one which day? Taxi or Uber, or is there a better way to get to one and then to or from the ship? Thanks!
  12. Lands End tankinis for sure. 14 top 12 bottom. ALWAYS fit--for the last 30 years. I live in a beach town, so will periodically buy either a new swim skirt or a top--no need to go through the horror of a fitting room!!!!! Yes, their 'sales' are phony, so buy at the end of the season.
  13. I have traveled the world alot (Military brat, and travel for my jobs), and my packing go to is INTERESTING large scale necklaces. I buy them when I travel, so I always have memories when wearing them, and seven cool necklaces pack in a zip lock bag and can bring smart looks to a few solid color ls tops. Add a pair (or two) of leggings and you're set for dinners. Jeans and those same tops layered with one vest and one pashmina and one scarf and I'm set to go.
  14. We just got back from the latest Doc appointment, and he gladly provided the Doctor's letter. Will wait another five days and then cancel. Thanks to all for their advice!
  15. We have been booked to cruise on Princess May 6-13, 2023. Husband had surgery April 10, then complications, so wasn't released from the ICU until April 16. Still experiencing pain and on serious medications. Also new passport hasn't arrived--big SNAFU with Dept of State/Passport Office. We bought the Princess Insurance, the regular not the premium. I have tried to decipher it and get answers, but to no avail! Can anyone help us with determining if we are able to use the Princess Insurance for either/both of this situations, so we can cancel and then rebook using the Princess credit? Thank you so much!
  16. It is a closed loop cruise to/from FLL. First port is Princess Cay, then STT then STM. Four sea days. The State Department/Passport Office has both the original Birth Certificate and original Baptismal Certificate--they have had these for months! We have tons of other ID--previous Passport cover page with photo, Drivers License, Medicare Card, Social Security Card, VA id Card, (and Costco photo credit card!). We called Vital Check, and were told it would be another 7 months or more to get a Birth Certificate! AAAAAARGH!!
  17. We've been trying since 2022 to get a new passport for my partner--his expired in 1998 and he hasn't needed one since. So now we have our Senator trying to help us since we have a May cruise booked. Someone suggested that a Passport wasn't required if we weren't planning to get off the ship at an international port. The ports on this cruise are St Thomas (US Virgin Islands), Princess Cay, and St Maartin (Dutch and French). We would be glad to stay on board in St Maartin. Can we cruise and just get off at STT and Princess Cay? Please advise--thank you!
  18. I've traveled many times to STT using the Dollar Ride, just not lately. Where can we pick it up when we are docking at Crown Bay rather than Havensight? How much time should we allow? TIA!
  19. OceanSurfari looks perfect for us! My main interest is to go to PizzaPi, as my SO eats pizza for lunch every day! Thank you!
  20. We want to do some snorkeling and visit Pizza Pi when we are on Caribbean Princess in May. Got recommendations? We don't drink and don't need a fancy meal either! TIA.
  21. Please be aware that there are HUNDREDS of us previous passengers from Enchanted and Emerald (and possibly Ruby also) who have been dumped in London. Many tested positive before they left their ship, many tested but did not get the results from PC until they were at LHR, and many of us were told to 'test a LHR, we can't test you before you get off the ship b/c we don't have any time available for you the day before of the morning of debarkation'. Surprise! Arriving at LHR there were no testing slots available prior to our flights, AND some of us took the tests anyway and then found out we were Positive. We had zero documentation from the ship, and had to GUESS what to do. We are clustered in several hotels awaiting a Negative test (we have to find/arrange testing on our own), including Ibis, Rad BLU and Rad Red--try not to go to Ibis, the other two are supposedly much better. Don't expect any 'Princess representative' at the hotel, either. We are all THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED with the 'non-help' we are getting, and the boilerplate instructions from PC. Many testing sites will not even admit you to their facility until ten+ days after you test Positive. Prices vary widely for testing. We are using Village Pharmacy on the High Street, close to Ibis and the Rads. They sell self-test kits for 3 pounds. My plan is to continue testing daily until I get negative, then go to a 'testing site' and get an 'official' negative test. And then, hopefully, fly back to the US. Questions? Will try to answer them.
  22. I am one of several hundred (300-500) cruisers from the April 16-May 1 Transatlantic stuck in London and ABANDONED by Princess. We were promised Covid testing and results prior to leaving the ship on Sunday, and help at two hotels from Princess. We have only gotten boilerplate emails and little to no direction or help. This is CRIMINAL. Kindly toggle over to the RollCall for April 16 2022 on Emerald, and you can see how we are faring. It is ABOMINABLE.
