  1. Following along with this to get information.  What a mess.  My biggest concern would be the medications I am on.  Yes, I always travel with a few extra days worth , but two weeks plus? Can just imagine trying to get some of my meds in a foreign country.  Which would lead to a fibromyalgia attack and then they'd think I had the virus....

@NewbieCruiser123 I haven´t seen any ashers on the Haven Sundeck or on the Vibe Beach Club. So I can´t say for sure. I don´t smoke.

I just uploaded the first part of my really extense photo review... which starts actually with deck 5. There will be an entry each day until it´s finished. It´s a deck by deck review with separate entries for restaurants and bars & lounges. Here´s part 1. The text is in German but there´s no need to read the text (or try google translate). The bold wording plus the photos will do it.

Oh sure steamboats I got all that German! Managed to pick up a bit because it sounds like Yiddish! Great pics of Deck 5, thank you. Wish I knew what you said!

I think the issue has more to do with those that reserve the chair without ever using it with the intent of returning at some point and not those that are using the chair and get up to enjoy the bar/pool/hot tub with the intent of returning.

Exactly. I often will get up and go into the buffet for lunch and then return to the chair. 60 minutes is plenty. 30 is pushing it. I’d never hold a chair for hours.

I feel like not many people are talking about Encore here. I’m comparing it to how many comments were posted so often for Bliss and Escape leading up to its first sailing. There were so many questions and a lot of excitement mixed in with of course the concerns. We sail on Encore next fall and I look forward to coming to these threads to see updates.

It’s my first time on a Breakaway Plus class ship too. There are concerns in my head but we will have a great time no matter what! I think the unanswered questions we  have are just that.....no answers yet!

  5. Thanks for the clarification on the pools and I can see those blue areas are catch basins now.  I’m getting the idea.  I have another question now.  On that pic of the Bliss pool area above, there’s what appears to be a running track on the deck above.  Does that mean no lounge chairs there either? That’s where we usually sat.  Caught the overflow from the pool area.  Looking more and more like there are less and less chairs in the sun.

on another topic, putting all of this  above into the realm of inconsequential stuff, please anyone in the hurricane area be careful and safe.  As I’ve said I have a house in Florida (currently being battened against the storm) but am in NY now so I’m personally ok.  I do have many friends and relatives I’m concerned about.  If anyone’s on a canceled cruise it’s a good reason.  Safety comes before anything!

  6. Interesting to note in the video posted that there is not a wonky-C on the lifeboat shown.  Wonder if they had them.  I’ll be laughing every time I see the name on the ship knowing what was.

I’m doing the 13 day Panama Canal repositioning in November 2020.  I looked at my itinerary and we have 5 sea days plus the day we actually go through the canal, where people I assume will be watching rather than sunbathing.  One of the five sea days is leaving out of NY and think it will be too cold for sunbathing.  That leaves four days where that pool deck space will be up for grabs.  I’m wondering how many days it’ll take for the revolt over available space to happen.

I’m thinking they may open Vibe at night to everyone for outside parties. In their money grabbing they’ve gone way overboard (pun intended) in having too many areas fee activities.  Virtual reality, laser tag, race track (which I will do) and Vibe.  It will be interesting to see the reaction, glad I’m not on one of the earlier cruises!

Does anyone have know if the pools are going to be able to handle the large number of passengers?  I know the Encore is a sister ship to Bliss and Escape and haven't read anything negative.  We were on the Escape in April to Bermuda but it was to cool for the pools so I really can't compare.

We are going to the Panama Canal in November 2020 on the Encore and would like to be able to use the pools without feeling crowded.  (the pools on our Epic 2019 cruise were so small it was disappointing and unusable, unless you wanted to stand shoulder to shoulder with others)

    Thanks in advance. 😀

Hi there! Are you on the roll call? Not that there are many of us on there, but we are way out from sail away.  I’m a bit concerned about the pool situation also but I will for sure be on that race track!

  8. My head is spinning after reading this entire thread.

Just booked the November 2020 Panama Canal that leaves from NYC and ends in Miami. Panama Canal has long been on the bucket list and the timing and the start and end ports work perfectly for us. DH is a gym rat who goes when it opens in the AM and I may have to send him for lounge chairs then but....🤔😋. I do have a few concerns now after reading all of this but let’s see what develops over time, I would have plenty of time to cancel if need be which will hopefully not happen. One question which I’m sure is answered elsewhere but can someone tell

me quickly that the go-cart charge is?

  9. I did both in January 2014. Zipline was awesome but you're not interested in that...we did the eco walkway also and it was a lot of fun going across the suspension bridges, and learned a lot of interesting local information. I'd recommend it.

  10. Thank you so much for this honest and excellent review. As a New Yorker on a Mexican Riviera cruise at the time this was happening, I was hoping for something real to come out of someone. We were getting a bit of hype on our ship from CNN and the such, but I can only imagine the New York press was having a field day broadcasting every single gory detail. You seemed to have a great time despite the "event" and being solo.....I would NOT have liked to be in my cabin alone at that time. Hope your next cruise is on water as smooth as glass and you have a great time. BTW, lovely shot of the Freedom Tower at night.

  11. Haven't been on the general Carnival CC board much but just happened to catch your review today, and since I am going on Miracle on the 13 days Journey cruise next year I was glad to see it. Wonderful review and I learned some stuff. I loved your room tour (we have a midship balcony); were you a radio announcer or something? Great voice, the tour seemed so polished. I was also glad to hear your opinion of Chloe Loddo....I've been hearing good things, but the only other female CD I ever had (Julie on NCL Breakaway) was very phony and I didn't think much of her. I have the Chef's Table booked but am now intrigued by the steakhouse under the red funnel. I'm going to go to the Malceon also; I have been informed how to get there with the bus aside from cabbing it, which I hear is quite an adventure in itself. We will see. Bummer about how they cannot open and close the pool roof while in motion, that seems to be a big minus to me.....have never been on Spirit class so this was great!

  12. I just found this thread. I'm cracking up. Hello fellow Journey's cruisers!

I am certainly hoping they fix the pier in time for us, but safety first; I just hope any quick fix they cobble together is sturdy enough!

We can almost always pick out the Caribbean cruisers. They're turning green when the experienced West Coast cruisers feel nothing.

I am not liking this line. I better buy large quantities of Bonine.

I do want to add one thing. It sure wasn't just those of us on our roll call thread who would at least be questioning this, because a lot of people book shore excursions ahead of time, and for months, the ShoreEx page for Zihua has said....nothing! That would make anyone looking there suspicious as to what is going on with the port.
