  1. Ashdad tour Part 2 . It was quite a warm day and we had already done a lot of walking so after a drive towards the Dead Sea we stopped for a snack and drink before we took a “ dive “ into the sea . Here you can see the sea in the distance The date palm farms It is not easy walking into the sea because of all the very uneven seafloor you can't see under the water but once in it was wonderful what an experience .! I have to admit , I am not a swimmer , but I was so happy to float on my back for minutes without doing anything . DW got some very , very salty water in her eyes ( yes she was warned …....) so she went quick to the showers . XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I am sorry to do this to you but I can't show you my speedo and Ann's bikini pictures that I have on file they did not make it through the Censor ! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Our Israeli guide , Ital , who had done an awesome job all day did not talk at all about the settlements we saw in Palestinian territory ........... Tony 😄 OK Ann @VictOriann you can look now you are safe !
  2. We had a fantastic cruise in the Eastern Mediterranean , Greece , Albania , Italy , Cyprus , Israel , Malta , Spain, Portugal and after that all the way back to Ft Lauderdale on the beautiful Prinsendam in Oct / Nov 2016 . Our good friends Ann @VictOriann , with DH Pat and their DD had organized a wonderful tour to Jerusalem and the Dead Sea from Ashdad. It was a very long but amazing day one we will always remember , towards the end of the day floating in the Dead Sea healed us all . An amazing day and wonderful tour we saw so much history and religion in just a few hours after that we went to the Dead Sea but I will show some pictures in a separate post . ( they will have to go through the censor board first ! 😄😄 ) Tony 😄
  3. Good afternoon everybody , Martha and I would like to thank you all once more for the well wishes you send us yesterday for our Anniversary . How time flies ….. Today it is 55 + 1 (day ) maybe if I count that way it will not go that fast) We were on the Volendam in Nov 2015 from Sydney to Singapore , had a wonderful stop on Hamilton Island and there was a lot of talk on board ship about the Great Barrier reef which we were passing in narrow marked channels so we would not disturb the reefs , but there was nothing to see and sadly there was not an expert on board ship telling us about the reefs or showing film or pictures from down below the surface . If I remember well there were a couple of tours available from Carins or Hamilton Island that if you were a diver or great swimmer you could take to see the reefs , but there was also a lot of talk that this e tours were going to places where the Coral was dying . Too bad it was a nice opportunity lost to see or hear more of this Natural Phenomenon ! Talk about phenomenon the weather in SW Ontario is completely out of wack , since begin November we have had I week of extreme cold weather and all together this winter so far maybe 3 or 4 inches of snow , while usually we would have received by now 3, 4, or 5 feet of snow. Not that we are complaining but it worries us and we are worried about the farmers ! Today + 15 degrees Celsius and in the next couple of weeks hardly any frost at night , We might not be able to get Maple Syrup ! Have a great weekend and take care , Tony 😁
  4. First of all Happy Birthday to @RedneckBob , I wonder what rednecks do on their birthday ? Thank you all for the good wishes after a little birdie from Victoria , named Ann @Vict0riann told you about our 55 years of Wedded Bliss ( which according to Mrs Google means : The Happiness experienced by people who are married ! ) It is unbelievable that it has already been 55 years , Time flies and I think the love for each other, the love we have received from our children , friends and family and the time we have spend at sea on Dam ships have enriched our lives a lot ! Just a couple of pictures out of the old shoe box of the big day ! Tony and Martha 😍😍
  5. Good morning /afternoon to all and Thank You to all the Daily contributors . From our San Diego Circle Hawaii cruise on the Veendam in 2014 , yes 10 years ago already , a few pictures of a great tour we had together including DMIL (than 87 ) and her cousin. How beautiful is nature to see and listen to . A fairly new lava stream we were allowed to explore New growth coming up in the lava stream One of the craters of Mauna Lua Look at mom getting excited being near a volcano for the very first time ….. Visiting some lovely Orchid gardens Liked that companies slogan ! Best Wishes to all and please Take Care ! Tony 😄😄
  6. Good evening to all of the Daily organizers and all the loyal followers . It was an amazing but very busy day here in SW Ontario it made it up to 19 C so this was a sign to go out and start cleaning up the garden a bit . I would love to show some of the pictures from our day in Alicante when we were last there in April 2019 . On one of the Prinsendam’s last cruises for HAL we landed in Alicante and I had set up a double walking tour with a very good guide first we went to Castillo de Santa Barbara and afterwards we did some nice walking around the town itself . In our nice group there were also Jacqui and Jose @kazu A distinct view of the Castillo from sea level , for most of the way up we used the elevator however the last few and quite steep hundreds of meters we climbed ourselves. It was a beautiful clear and very warm day , and we had great views from up there ! We had to find shade wherever we could to listen to the many stories of our guide , also of the horrible years under Generalissimo Franco when many prisoners were imprisoned here Beautiful architecture in the downtown The Mercado Central All the food in the market made us hungry and thirsty Always the gentleman....... One of my favourite pictures of the day “ Who is leading who ?” Just stay in the shade There also is a story about this image of face in the rock …….. 3.15 time to get out of the heat and go back Home to the Prinsendam and drink a nice cold beer , but a very nice day was had by all in Alicante , Spain ! Tony 😄
  7. Bon Voyage ! Cabin 5200 by chance we will be there on April 7th ! Have a wonderful cruise.
  8. Thank you for another very nice Daily to all the contributors . I am again late to the party today but could not let the Port of Livorno go without posting some pictures . We were a few times in Livorno going on small group tours ( I believe 9 times now) to visit different places like Pisa , Florence , San Gimigliano , Luca , Voltera and Sienna etc. Hope I am not duplicating too many pictures already posted today This very special photo was not taken with a special purpose . DW wanted to take this nice ice cream cart through this store's window and only when we came home and I sorted all of our pictures on my computer and it showed in the reflection the famous tower of Pisa ! It would not have come out this nice if she had tried to do this. This is only a picture of the “doppleganger “ of the real David , who of coarse stands proud and well protected inside this nice museum ( It was a long time ago that I looked like David but if you want to I can go through my pictures later on.......) That was Pisa, Florence , San Gimigliano and now a few pictures from a different cruise in 2022 when we went to Sienna which is another lovely place to visit. Amazing to see all of the details on the facade and the workmanship The famous piazza where the annual " Palio di Siena " horse race is held . And to finish the day this was a beautiful spot for a tasting of the heavenly wines , oils and foods of this area. A wonderful weekend to all . We are slowly starting to get ready for our next cruise to the Caribbean , to Rotterdam ( The Netherlands ) and our first big visit to the Canary Islands at the end of April. Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend , it will be 14 C on Sunday here what is usually snow country but until now we have not had to shovel snow all winter , fingers crossed that I did not jinx it now . I better stop now before I get in trouble Tony 😄😄
  9. In the early 80’s we were on a 10 day Incentive trip from Philips Electronics ( Canada ) to Melbourne and Sidney with a large group . After a very long flight from Toronto via Fiji to Melbourne and after just having a couple of hours rest in the hotel the company offered a side trip to see " The Penguin Parade " on Phillip Island , I said to Martha sure we should do that...... I had not planned that and was not aware of where it was but after sitting in a minibus what seemed to be a long time we arrived on a beach where a good number of people where already waiting , we stood at a very a nice spot to see toward sundown that every time a wave hit the beach a number of these very small penguins came ashore sometimes in large groups and other times just a few at the time and they would each run to what we were told their own burrow . It was really a wonderful sight to see , but than we had to drive back all the way to Melbourne and Martha was quite tired and not impressed me booking this side trip . Long story short we were still young it did not bother me too much and we are still talking about these wonderful little penguins ! My pictures are in my photo album , but here a couple of stock pictures from the web. Tony 😁
  10. A few pictures from when we were on the Zaandam in 2015 on our way to Antarctica Entering the Channel just crossing the border between Chile and Argentina Sundown before we reach Ushuaia Back on board the Zaandam after a wonderful tour in Ushaia ( that’s for another time ) and on our way towards Cape Horn through the channel . From one of my favourite graphic artists Maurits C Escher Promoting the Indonesian crew show that evening ( We are really missing that feature ! ) Tony 😍
  11. Hey that face looks familiar ......and yes we also enjoyed the Indonesian tea , plus some of the tea is actually from Indonesia
  12. Hi Jacqui @kazu thanks for including me in the Gardening club and for advice, much appreciated. I know usually May 24 is the last day for a chance of frost in our area but leaf lettuce can take a little frost from what I found out a few years ago . Right now I might do some prepping , like raking leafs because we live in the woods and dig up some weeds , I need the exorcise , and towards the time we are leaving on the N Statendam cruise I will double check the 14 day forecast and just sow some of those seeds , they usually germinate here in about 7 days and than we hope and see if there is lettuce when we get back . Nothing better than in the afternoon cut some lettuce for dinner that evening after a couple of hours in the fridge . I might even try spinach and Swiss chard ......what is a few dollars in seeds ? Take care and hope your weather get s better soon ! Tony , gardeningdutchy 😘
  13. Today it is nice and sunny in SW Ontario and another day where the temperatures are above 0 Celsius , with no snow on the ground , which is very strange for February . I might even think of starting to prepare my veggie gardens if it stays this way before we get on board the Nieuw Statendam at the end of March than I can hope to come back to leaf lettuce at the beginning in May . We were also on the Veendam in mid January 2014 and had a very nice stop in Kailua - Kona . Here a few pictures Tender into port We had taken along Martha's mom and cousin on this cruise Visiting the very nice Painted church and beautiful grounds. Back on board ship and fell asleep This is was we came back to a couple of weeks later , it was almost impossible to get from Detroit airport and drive home . Than this again a couple of days later shovelling ………. Forgot to put the car in the garage ! Have a great day everybody and Big Thank You to the all people that are keeping the Daily alive and well so I can dig up all the nice cruise memories ! Tony 😘
  14. Good morning all from a mild SW Ontario . Thank you to all the contributors to the daily , I do not post every day but when I am at home I enjoy reading what is going on in the cruising community. Today a few pictures from when we were on the Baltic cruise on the MS Rotterdam (VI) in August of 2011 and yes I see many were on the same kind of tour as we were ! I always wonder if the sculpture artist includes a bird on the hero’s head in bronze right from the start if another bird wouldl still go on top of that bird ……….? Yes those were still the days when we still went on sticker tours , haven’t done that in years. Gorgeous church in the rocks ! Older camera did not do any good to this nice monument on a grey day in Helsinki Finish composer Jean Sibelius , his most famous work was "Finlandia " Time to go back on board after a very nice day We loved the old Rotterdam Getting ready for the Chocolate surprise Have a great day everybody , Take Care ! Tony 😄
  15. Hello Jacqui , We have added a 7 day cruise on the Nieuw Statendam on Mar 31st , Eastern Caribbean this just before we do the 28 day on the same ship from Ft Lauderdale to Rotterdam and the Canaries that you already have posted . Thank you very much keeping this list up to date and also for doing the Daily for Rich . Take care and hope the weather gets better soon for you Tony
  16. I bought mine at about $42 about 8 years ago and at the time we received besides the OBC also a dividend . Last year I bought another 150 stocks at about $11.00 to bring down my average price and all these stocks have now been paid for and more. If you cruise a couple of times a year $ 14.79 to my thinking is a good idea .
  17. Just a few pictures of a wonderful evening that Jacqui @kazu had set up for a good size group at Senior Fado in Lisbon in 2019 while on the Prinsendam . Jacqui and Jose near the fantastic performers after having had a delicious meal . If in Lisbon I can recommend Sr Fado but book very early , there is limited space and it fills up fast ! Tony 😄
  18. We have been a number of times to Lisbon and a couple of times on the” Elegant Explorer " , The beloved Prinsendam in 2016 and 2019 . Thank you all for the very nice pictures I saw a lot of familiar shots from places we have visited in Lisboa . In 2016 we were on a small group tour from Lisbon to Sintra and Estoril so I will show a few pictures from that particular day , will see how many pics CC will allow me . We first went to the Palace of Pena built in the 1850’s on the site where a medieval monastery had stood . It lies on higher grounds plus there still was some morning fog which is seen here on my photos . Despite being very late today I love to show you some pictures of one of our visits to Lisbon Talk about workmanship ....... Coffee break in town and some of Portugal's best Cascais The man I was named after , my Patron Saint , Saint Anthony Time to go back to Lisbon and after a visit to the Cathedral to go back Home to the Prinsendam Back on board was not until 8 pm so we had time to shoot some nice pictures in a beautiful light from the sun going down slowly . Have a great day everybody . Take Care and Stay Safe ! Thank you to all the contributors who are keeping this thread going Tony 😅
  19. Like already mentioned by Jacqui we had a wonderful day in Guernsey and I saw a lot of pictures this afternoon so I will spare you or at least try not to post many duplicates .Thank you Jacqui , Sandi for al the pictures ( saves me a lot of work ) For anybody that will be landing in the future on Guernsey I can highly recommend a walking tour with Annette who will show some nice corners of the town and she has a lot of historical facts which she will share in a playful way . If you are planning to go to Guernsey I can recommend also to read this book or watch this movie on forehand. On Annettes Walking Tour everybody is a participant and you don’t know what is in store for you , here Jose was picked on for Annette to tell us about the history of Guernsey My thoughts take me back to dear Jose , a wonderful person ! Also Martha was chosen a little while later ..... The tidal movement in St Peter Port are on average 5.2 meters or 17 feet . The Elegant Explorer , the Prinsendam Tony 🙂
  20. Good evening to all , we have been very busy after we returned from the Rotterdam and even though it is already late I just like to add a few pictures. I just have a few pictures of our day in Manilla where we arrived with the Volendam in November of 2017 . We had a very nice welcome in the Port where of coarse there also were a lot of Philippine families looking to meet crew members who are such a large and important portion of the crew on all of the Holland America ships. We had a very nice and adventurous tour in a crowded and noisy Manilla but I lost a good number of nice pictures because of technical camera problems but here a few of them without too much commentary . I had a lot of fun in the Jeepney but for Martha it was the first and last time ………..guess she is use to more luxurious forms of transportation . Sorry there is not much more to share today . Guess we have to go back there again we got very close to Manilla in Febryary of 2020 when we were on the infamous Westerdam cruise when Covid struck , we made it almost to the 200 mile nautical border of the Philippines when we were told by that Government we do not want you turn around ………..so we than floated in circles for another 12 days to find a place that would accept us , and you know the end of the story there were absolutely no cases of Covid on the Westerdam ! Did we look concerned ............. Tony 😁😁
  21. Just before we are driving to Toronto and flying to Ft Lauderdale Saturday morning , if it ever stops snowing today , I will gather some pictures from our visit to Nha Trang on Jan 24 , 2020 while we were on the Westerdam . YES on that cruise ! We had not heard at that time any rumours yet about a Covid outbreak in China but one week after this tour we saw the first signs that something was up when we docked in Hong Kong and saw all of these people with masks and 4 days after that we were lost at sea looking for a place to land on shore and rush home because nobody else in Asia wanted to see us go on shore ! We had a wonderful tour with our guide Dung Pham to a number of beautiful places and also visited a number of places where we were between the local people . Sorry no time today to give you names of places just some nice photos without any comments . We saw a lot that day which made a lasting impression on us of hard working people that made us feel very welcome. That evening we had a great dinner with friends …….and it was a pop up night , guess where ! This is probably the last you will hear from us until we get back home after our cruise , I do not want to post from my iPad on board ship . Take care everybody ! Tony 😄😄
  22. Thank you very much @kazu Jacqui and all other Daily friends for the good wishes , we are almost finished packing our suitcases and are counting on nice weather in the Caribbean ! Tony & Martha 😍
  23. @Seasick Sailor could you tell me please who the current Captain of the Rotterdam is would it be Werner Timmers or Bas van Dreumel ?
  24. Will do Joy and Allen , I send a reminder to myself ! Enjoy the rest of your cruise and safe returns home !
