  1. Just off the Getaway on Oct 14. Ship was great, service was exceptional, 2 main shows were also very entertaining. There is limited seating in the smaller venues so we didn’t make the dueling pianos or other shows at SIDS Pour house. Go early and stand in line. Speciality restaurants are great as always and food in the main dining rooms were good. Overall a great cruise. You will have a great time. Don’t know about the filters but I never felt anything but fresh air.
  2. Testing to get on board was simple. You just waited and watched the board for your number. Then get a bracelet and go upstairs to check in. The ship was about 50% capacity so restaurants were never crowded. There was one exception in Naples when most excursions returned about the same time. O’Sheans was pretty crowded that day but no wait. Testing to get off the ship again was quick and painless. Only problem was that they gave the test on Wednesday. We were staying in Rome after so we had to get another one in Rome to qualify for the 72 hour rule for USA. We downloaded the Verifly app which was what you needed to speed things up. There you can download your vaccination records, test results, PLF forms. It really made the process a little better but it is very confusing as you will see.
  3. We just took the 10 day Greek isle trip. I’m not good at reviews but will answer any questions I can. Ship was great, crew was phenomenal, food was ok, shows were very good. A couple of tips, get to Syds Pour house about 30 minutes early. Stand in line, it’s a first come first in capacity limited seating. If you come in at 10 pm for a 10,30 pm show probably won’t get in. Also make sure you log off you4 WiFi each time or you will lose your minutes the first day,
  4. Just got off Getaway last week. Room was warm and we had to adjust the thermostat down. Also don’t forget to hit the fan switch at the bottom. Generally very comfortable throughout the ship.
  5. Just got off the Getaway last week. We ate at Ocean Blu, Cagney and Le Bristo. We booked about 100 days out but with the ship about 60%full should not be a problem if you can’t do it ahead. We also changed our time one night with no problem and went 1 hour early on another. Decreased capacity has its blessings
  6. I have not had a good answer to this yet so please, someone with knowledge tell me. To get into Italy you have to have a test 72 hours prior however if you come from UK or transit thru UK it is 48 hours. We are flying from the US, changing planes at Heathrow and then to Italy. Does that mean 48 hour test or 72?
  7. We went to Jamaica and took a a trip to the Rose plantation. There was a tree that grew there that had 20 inch long buds hanging from it. When they dried, the seeds inside make it sound like a rain stick. I grabbed one off the ground and put it in my shopping bag. No problem getting back on the ship but when we went to fill out the custom forms it said no plants or fruit. I knew I was going to get busted at the check point but he only asked about Cuban cigars. It’s still on the shelf today, a fond memory of a great cruise
  8. We are on the October 4 sailing right behind you so don’t break anything. Just kidding. Will be waiting anxiously to hear and see anything you post.
  9. Not trying to poke anyone with a stick, but, I don’t own a K95 mask. If that’s required will I have to buy one from NCL? I have paper masks (useless) and a cloth mask ( also useless) that I wear when required to satisfy the masses. Just trying to prepare myself for all nickel and dime things that might occur.
  10. We called too but NCL said we were on our own. Called AA and was told have to call BA. they charged us for seats . You are lucky
  11. I have been confused about the word transit. We need to have a 72 hour test to fly to Rome. People from UK need a 48 hour test. I haven’t been able to determine if my flight to Heathrow to change planes for Rome constitutes the need for the 48 hour test. The thing I’m concerned about is I would like to get the PCR test but we fly out Sunday landing in Rome Monday. With the test being done over the weekend will we get results back in time. It’s a great leap of faith to leave the country hoping the results will be back in time.
  12. NCL originally booked us with straight thru flights to Rome. Then it was changed to BA flying thru Heathrow. We had to pay a lot on line to get seats together. Otherwise BA says you have to wait till 24 hours before flight time to pick seats (for free). Disnt want to take a chance on having to sit in the middle by myself for 8 hours. Also its almost impossible to get thru to BA as they tell you everyone's busy and just call back. Click.
  13. Here’s my question. We are flying to Rome thru London. Does landing at Heathrow airport constitute a “traverse” through UK? Do I need a 72 hour or 48 hour test?
  14. My flight leaves Sunday at 7pm and arises in Rome at 8am, change over in London ( not exact times). My sail time I think is 6 pm. If the 72 hour is in effect, would I have to get my test at 6 pm on Friday. What are the chances the results would be back with processing on sat and sun? I’m not even calculating the time changes. Can you imagine flying to Rome, testing positive and having to quarantine for x number of days, NCL saying you didn’t comply with the 72 hour rule because you don’t have the results and you are on your own. Sounds like a game changer for us.

  16. Is it normal for airlines to charge for selecting your seats. BA said you have to pay if you want to select your seating any earlier than 24 hours of your flight. I know you have to pay extra for any kind of upgrade but regular seats? If you wait till 24 hours you might not be able to seat together or be stuck in the back row, etc.
  17. Lots of talk about taking only NCL sponsored tours. Some say you have to, others say you don’t. My question refers to staying in Italy after the cruise. Will my COVID card be enough to allow me to wander thru Rome or do you think I need to complete that EU digital locator card. Don’t really want to do that unless I have to. We are scheduled to stay 2 days and have a tour of the Vatican. I know NCL will be done with us when we get off the ship so any help will be appreciated.
  18. Here’s an interesting side note. Wonder how this will affect people, like us, who plan on a 2 day stay over in Rome after the cruise? Will we be allowed and if so what will we be able to do and see?
  19. We had an excursion scheduled thru NCL for our upcoming cruise in October but got an email today saying it was cancelled. Anyone have any idea why? Are there any recommendations for a tour company going there? We really wanted to visit the Cinque Terra
  20. Wow. Your picture suits the tone of your comments. Lighten up Francis.
  21. We are sailing on the Escape in October this year. We just booked hop on hop off in Cannes and Naples. No problem.
