  1. We were on the Symphony last February in Sydney. Upon embarkation, our room was insufferably hot. A quick call to the engineer and he was down in a jiffy and fixed us right up. Took out some sort of deflector which the last occupants had requested, as they were too cold. Cannot imagine all the individual issues that the entire crew addresses. But good example of "if you need help, ask." Well done, as usual Crystal. Ginny
  2. Keith, oh so envious of you having Eugene Robinson on board for lectures. Such a measured, thoughtful journalist; I follow him whenever I can hear him on television or read in the Washington Post. His lecture topics look fascinating. Is he new to Crystal? Ginny
  3. Hi Keith, I continue to enjoy your WC posts. Hope you and Anne Marie are enjoying to the fullest. Please add our sailing: July 29 (OCY190729-14) Amsterdam to Lisbon -cookingkh (Ginny/Terry) Thanks! Ginny and Terry
  4. One of the reasons we have continued to cruise with Crystal came about on our first cruise, in 2008 during Hurricane Sandy. Crystal was extremely generous in reimbursing every passenger for missed days of cruising, whether one held insurance or not. Checks were placed in our rooms before we arrived. Not shipboard credit but actual checks for real $$$. We have relayed and touted this to many friends and folks over the past decade.Pretty good marketing, I would say. Conversely, we have heard of difficulties that other friends have had with cancellations and altered schedules with other cruise lines, to include Viking. The ability to cancel a cruise and move to another has been a real freedom for us. I was in a horrific pedestrian accident with an auto and Crystal was the best in moving us to another Baltic cruise. I fear the accounting office may be a bit" penny wise and pound foolish" in this new policy- while I understand 'business is business", one must wonder if this for the convenience and ease in the bookkeeping office and forgoing the stellar reputation that Crystal has had in the past for the "C" -the customer. As a pretty famous poster here says "time will tell". But if we get entangled in this, it will not make Crystal the shining star it is in our minds.
  5. All I know is that the two wine dinners we have partaken in-one on Serenity and one on Symphony, have been the ultimate in both food, wine and education. I would sign up in a heartbeat for a luncheon at half the price.
  6. I loved this. Always use your reading glasses late at night!๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. I agree. I get it every time I go to Prego. Probably never would eat it anywhere else on the planet. It is that good.
  8. I too always have water in my backpack. But I always seem to have a ready supply on Crystal. Seems in the South Pacific and Panama, they always had it when waiting for tenders. Our stewards knew I needed H2O. Only wish Crystal, in their conservation efforts, would give each guest a thermal water bottle to refill everywhere. Would be great.(Tauck does on its land adventures and it is great!)
  9. My burning question - is how can you go 18 days without Fevertree tonic?๐Ÿ˜ฒ Terry and I will be reading your full report with enthusiasm. Enjoy the trip and adventure!
  10. We were on the Crystal Baltic cruise to Russia in 2016. We ended up joining 8 others on the ship who hired a private tour guide and driver from a highly reputable company who procured our visas for us. Not a problem whatsoever and the small tour group was outstanding.
  11. Allwyn is the very best! One of our favorites too, May B! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
  12. Loved that you traveled the scenic Hudson River- we lived for many years at the USMA reservation at West Point and it is to us, one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Will follow along in your journey once again, Roy and so sorry that we will not see you on the Symphony. That sweet grand baby just made us cancel the voyage- but we will be traveling with you in spirit. Safe travels ! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
  13. I heartily second the idea of keeping Tastes and eliminating Silk! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
  14. We boarded the Serenity in January for Sydney in San Pedro- Jan 23. Flew out two day before and stayed in the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach. Great walking area- with lots of restaurants and a free trolley to Old Town with many independently owned restaurants and Artisan craft stores. Spent a great morning at the aquarium and a great late afternoon on the Queen Mary. Sunset cocktails in the old bar was the best. That, and plentiful shopping nearby made it a relaxing way to decompress before boarding the ship. Uber was easy from the airport and to the ship. Would repeat this itinerary if ever leaving from San Pedro again. It was flawless. Weather was oh so perfect too! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
  15. Roy, Even though we were with you for over 43 Days on your larger journey, Terry and I enjoyed your detailed reports, fabulous photos and dedication to this blog. Hereโ€™s to a safe journey home for you with luggage intact and time to plan future adventures. Our very best regards, Ginny and Terry
