  1. My daughter is sailing on Oasis in July 2022 leaving from Cape Liberty.  There are 5 cruises leaving that week.  Parking garage has 950 spaces which would probably be enough for 2 ships at most.  Can anyone comment on parking availability at Cape Liberty now?

It is discourage in writing (and it's printed on the daily schedule) but whether they will turn you away at the door of the MDR is up to the manager at the door.  We end up at Windjammer because of this.  Can he bring a pair of pants and change for dinner.  Linen pants can be as comfortable as shorts really if temperature is a problem.

Temperature is never a problem in the MDR.  My wife always brings a wrap.  SPECIAL PEOPLE come up with all kinds of excuses not to follow the dress codes which clearly say no shorts.  Shorts are NEVER appropriate in a nice restaurant like the MDR no matter where you live!

I noticed they went down to $1,699 today so I also grabbed one. I hope they go down again, but highly doubt it.  I am already having buyer's remorse so will decide if I want to keep it closer to the cruise. But knowing me, I will get comfortable with the price and keep it 🙂

Good move.  Back to $1999 today!

  4. We are on August 16 the Oasis cruise.  Price was $2500 last week, dropped to $2000 and dropped again to $1699.  I know they are overpriced but you only live once.  At $1699 they are about $175 per person.  Most decent excursions are around $100.  A chance to live like a suite passenger for one day!  My only concern is  rain!

Windjammer buffets are as good as the Main Dining room in terms of quality of food.  Better choices than the MDR.

You must be joking.  I was on Allure in June.  Dining room food was good to very good.  Windjammer buffet was the absolute worst I have experienced in 36 cruises.  Yes there is a choice of 20 items none of which were even close to tasty.  Breakfast bacon inedible, same lunch choices every day disguised to look different.  Compared to Celebrity and even NCL, Windjammer food was about same quality as a school cafeteria   Luckily there are other dining choices in Oasis class ships for breakfast and lunch!

  6. Can't believe it.  People here worried about upgrades and future credits while people will probably die.  Hurricane will sit over Bahamas as a Cat 4 or Cat 5 for three days.  People there will lose everything and Coco Cay will no longer exist.  Could still score a direct hit on Florida which could cause $1 Trillion in damage.  Even a glancing blow will cause damage in the billions.  So stop complaining like spoiled brats and start praying!

I've just paid £330 for a South Beach Cabana for 8 people - Oasis of the Seas August 2020.  South Beach isn't even opening until December this year apparently so don't even know if its a good deal or not!  No other cabanas being offers on Cruise Planner at this time but wouldn't want to pay any more and not the crazy prices being offers above!!

We have done two Royal cruises in the past  year and a half as well as 11 on Celebrity and 7 on NCL.

For the MDR Royal does almost as good as Celebrity (I think is the best).   NCL is below Royal and Celebrity.

Royal's buffet is weak in places and some buffet food we had last June on Serenade (moussaka and lasagna) were awful.  Celebrity's buffet is great and they tend provide more health food choices.  NCL's buffet is average.

Totally agree with you except buffet on Allure was bad in every way except maybe for coffee?

  9. I was on Allure in June.  MDR food was good but certainly nothing like food we got on our first cruise is1996.  Windjammer was absolutely the worst buffet I have encountered in 36 cruises.  Luckily there were other options.  Chops was really bad - watery soup, soggy shrimp and rib steak I couldn't chew!  Fortunately it was a freebie from my TA.

If you try the Oasis out of New Jersey, summer 2020, it is very reasonable.  The Symphony is the newest ship and all new ships are expensive.  However RC ships are so much better then NCL, which are just like Carnival.  However worse unless you are in the Haven.

But Oasis will have pretty much everything Symphony has after the upgrades.  We are booked for next August.  I was very surprised at prices since cruises out of NYC area are usually more expensive!

Which is why my household and friends no longer cruise.

Until the value improves for the consumer, cruising is banished.  Will monitor the cruise industry to see if the situation improves in the future.

Our TA commented recently that her cruise bookings are down put her bookings for land tours are way up. While that is only one TA, it is interesting.

Cruising is just one travel option

Cruising is still best value vacation.  Food is still good and I have always experienced great service.  I can usually go on a 7 day cruise in a balcony cabin for just a little more than renting a lousy motel room at the Jersey shore.  And the cruise includes food, entertainment, water slides, rock climbing, flowrider, etc.  Cruises are all sailing full and many new ships in the pipeline.  We have done all-incluse 3:times (as opposed to 35 cruises).  Each time around the 3rd day my wife and I both said that we should have gone on a cruise.  But to each his own!
