  1. Excellent news. We are booked for a Grand Voyage and I can anticipate that there will be evenings when we are tired and just don't want to socialize and have a long dinner. Dinner in our suite would be a nice alternative, combined with the great TV choices on Seabourn, we will be happy guys.
  2. On our very recent QM2 crossing, we phoned in our breakfast order each morning once we were awake and ready for the world. Delivery was 30 to 40 minutes. But note that we order basic continental breakfast items like coffee, juice, yogurt and fruit. Occasional cereal or pastry.
  3. So Sorry. Now I understand. I caught Covid on the QM2, but it was just before we disembarked. Still not a happy experience.

    Black suit

I wear a black suit and white shirt. No bow tie, just a conservative regular one. No one gives me any trouble or attitude.
  5. The all-day room service menu is the same for all classes.
  6. We have almost always received excellent service from the Concierge on the QM2. She or he has helped on countless things such as making dinner reservations, printing statements of room charges, printing attachments to emails, internet service problems, booking cars in ports, etc. However on the QV we found the Concierge overworked, with many many PAX lining up for help with their problems. It was hard to get the the front of the line.
  7. Fudge: So sorry this happened to you. I understand your anger. But the same thing happened to us in 2022 when Silversea cancelled our crossing and replaced it with a charter. We were given notice of this only about 5 weeks before departure, so we had to scramble to cancel our flight to Florida to pick up the ship, to cancel the hotel in Lauderdale and to find an alternative way to get to Lisbon from the States. It was stressful and I was angry for a long time.
  8. November BCN to Lisbon? Nice time of year, but it can be quite cool. Don't expect hot beach weather. Bring a sweater and a wind breaker.
  9. Disembarked from a crossing on the QM2 last week and sailed in QG. There was not DVD player in the suite.
  10. Take a walk around the ship to tour the beautiful public rooms and decide which one is your favorite. Have a drink in the Chart Room.
  11. Not sure if I quality for this comparison since we've sailed only once on SS, on the Moon. Seabourn is our favorite line because of the conviviality, but we were extremely pleased with the Moon, especially the food and the number of different dining choices. We prefer the entertainment on Seabourn, but did very much enjoy the jazz duo in the Silver Note lounge on the Moon. We are booked on SB for 2023 and 24, and will happily return to one of SS's bigger ships for the right itinerary, such as a crossing. BTW, I am a Yankee and I say "y'all." Guess I should not stand near Mr. L. He may throw his cocktail at me!
  12. Hooray! Can't wait! Long overdue!
  13. Internet, internet, internet! They so desperately need to upgrade the system, include more routers so that you can actually use the internet in your stateroom. But most importantly, some lines (like Silversea) are using a new satellite service that provides a quality connections that approaches what you get at a hotel on land. Not perfect, but quite usable. Cunard is behind the times and if the line wants to attract a younger crowd, especially on a QM2 crossing, then good internet is essential. Otherwise the young people will not return.
  14. Internet service on Cunard seems to never ever get any better. Lower your expectations.
  15. Mr.TV here: Yes we all need to know and understand our history so that the problems are not lived again, which unfortunately is happening for trans people right now. On the other hand, we do love the Seabourn experience, have 2 major sailings scheduled. And we hope that you will love it as well.
  16. Great reference! Who knew??
  17. We have easily found gay and lesbian folks on board Seabourn, as well as very simpatico straight folks, including those with gay kids. I do remember one LGBT meet up where my husband and I were the only 2 gay guys there, plus a lovely and enthusiastic deputy cruise director. She made us feel very welcome. BTW, the "Friends of Dorothy" term is gay history, left over from an era when gay people had to sneak around for fear of being revealed with very negative consequences. One asked, "Are you a friend of Dorothy?" The cultural reference is Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) in the "Wizard of Oz." Judy, of course, was an old fashioned gay icon, and frankly who would not want to be one of her friends??? Times and the culture have moved on. We were on a Silversea cruise a month ago and the Friends of Dorothy meet-up was every cocktail hour, well-attended. But the young folks did not really understand the cultural reference. Extra piece of gay trivia: The Stonewall Riot, the start of Gay Liberation in New York, started on the night of Judy Garland's funeral. Mourning, rioting, all pieces in a complicated puzzle of liberation. Seabourn will see you and take care of you.
  18. We have found that the crossings between Thanksgiving and Christmas are priced a bit lower than others.
  19. I agree with Mr. Lux and Lincslady. And I don't recall that Seabourn gave any advice on tipping.
  20. There is a May 18 crossing from Southampton that arrives in Brooklyn May 26. Not yet cancelled.
  21. Thanks for this warning. We sail on May 18, so we are actively working on Plan B and may soon make some reservations that can be cancelled.
  22. We agree that PG is the sweet spot, value but a step up and more space. We like the real estate. For me, the deck plans of the QM2 are a challenge. After dozens of times aboard, I still get lost. But that is part of the pleasure for me. The space is quirky, weird. I love finding the little nooks and crannies. Not efficient or transparent, but lovely and fun. I find it a far superior ship to the QE and QV, which to me come across as just mass market cruise ships. IMHO.
