  1. Namvvet68- Wow! They look tired after only 3 years? I didn’t know they were dry docked that often. ( Actually it’ll be 4 years by the time we sail).
  2. Does the Crown have something similar to the Emerald’s Steamers Seafood and Planks BBQ?
  3. Now I'm disappointed I won't get to experience Share!
  4. Online it shows Crafted by Curtis Stone , for Crown Princess. Is that not correct? So to get this straight- Crown has Crown Grill and Sabatini’s for their specialty (addl fee) restaurants?
  5. Emerald has a new buffet design. So just decor or more offerings too? Thanks for the Share menu-looks good.
  6. Curtis Stone is an Australian chef? And what kind of food at Share? Tapas? Sabatini's is Italian I assume.
  7. Thanks everyone. Why do they do this? The Emerald didn't need to be in dry dock. That was done recently I think.
  8. We just receieved a message that our 2022 Alaskan cruise has been changed from the Emerald Princess to the Crown Princess. Can anyone tell me if this is a positive change? Negative? Or are they identical/no differnce? I have only sailed on the Emerald before. Thanks!
  9. That sounds like a great solution. I wouldn’t care about time of day so much as day to day.
  10. I hadn’t realized that some won’t let you transfer it over. Thanks!
  11. "What benefit would it be to us to transfer this booking ?' is how I've decided to put it. :) I'm thinking you can't do this on the bidding sites, but only with a local or online individual TA?
  12. I'm getting my trips mixed up! The Alaska cruise next year is the one I've been looking for a TA for and talking to several. It's the AMA Christmas markets river cruise we already booked ourselves and I am thinking of transferring it if I find a good TA. But the 2nd (local) TA I spoke to for Alaska just told me the same as the first -$50 SBC per cabin (There are 4 cabins and I was expecting about $250 each). She did add something else, very vague-that when it's time to sail she adds to her guest's shipboard account some as well as a thank you for booking with her.
  13. Nope, it's a family Alaska cruise on Princess. 11 people , 4 cabins.
  14. Yes, I did ask this question within another post but don't recall much response, unless I wasn't getting notifications for some reason. I have not heard of them covering gratuities before-I've just heard of SBC, cash cards, maybe shore excursuion(s) or specialty dining. I just asked the local TA if she would be able to offer any SBC and she responded $50 per cabin (we have 4 cabins). Gratuities would be $1117! If I tell a TA we have a booking to transfer it seems a bit crass to ask what she will do for us. Or do i just transfer it and wait and see/hope?
  15. Flatbush Flyer- I believe Grand Circle Cruise Line pays/uses no TSs and that is one way they keep their prices down. They also do no marketing except to past cruisers.
  16. It seems odd that a TA would get paid for a booking that they didn't even do. But i suppose they do take over after that.
  17. What would be the reason(s) to transfer over a river cruise booking that we made directly with the cruise line to a travel agent? I’ve been reading on here that others do that. And do you have 30 days to do it , 60 days? TIA!
  18. Not what I pay her but the cruise price that she gave me.
  19. Thanks for the insight NantahalCruiser and Hlitner. I guess I'm just disappointed. Someone elsewhere said generally, in his experience, TAs give excellent service or a great deal but not both. Since I'm used to doing it on my own , and usually find pretty good deals, I was hoping for service, since we were planning a world cruise, something we'd never done before. Then, planning another shorter cruise, I was hoping for a deal, but not only was her price $1000 more than online, she offered no OBC either. She was very responsive-i have to give her that!
  20. Maybe this one I'm dealing with now will give excellent service, but not only was there no OBC offered, her price was $1000 higher than what I can get by booking myself.
  21. Someone on another thread criticized online TAs because many were newbies or part time. Personally I wouldn't care if they were part time. I am surprised to be getting quotes from TAs that don't offer any perks like on board credit. And this was a local TA who specializes in cruises , not an online TA. We are planning several trips and none have impressed me so far (messing up the date or itinerary I asked for, quoting me higher than what I can get by doing it myself-2 of them- , not seeming very knowledgeable, not answering back on my initial query, etc). I may just go back to doing it on my own. Or maybe I need to go through ten to find a good one-the top 10%! The 4 or 5 so far had all been recommended too .
  22. Someone on another thread criticized online TAs because many were newbies or part time. Personally I wouldn't care if they were part time. I am surprised to be getting quotes from TAs that don't offer any perks like on board credit. And this was a local TA who specializes in cruises , not an online TA. This is for an ocean cruise this time, not a river cruise.
  23. What is meant by a “ full service” TA? As opposed to what?
  24. We usually do our own research and book our own cruises. I know for ocean cruises, a TA will often give you perks like onboard credit , but what about on river cruises? I don't really hear about that and there is really no place to use OBC since drinks and excursions are already covered.
  25. So what lines still have piano bars? I think Princess has Crooners.
