Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. My earlier post wasn’t clear. In Southampton on the NCL Dawn, no alcohol was served until we were far away from the port. I was served alcohol in Cagney’s on embarkation night at 8:42 pm (we asked our server to notify us when they could serve). Since 8:42 pm on embarkation night, we have had no more issues getting alcohol - we have had one sea day, one day anchored just off Edinburgh/New Haven, and today we are docked at Inverness. Lots of alcohol to be had. There was a notice that Belfast would be an issue, but I am hoping that will be resolved before we get there.
  2. Am currently sailing on the NCL Dawn out of Southampton with a premium plus package. No issues since our day of disembarkation. Edinburgh was a tender port yesterday, we were served alcohol as soon as we got back on the ship. Today, docked at Inverness, same thing, drinking a beer as I type this. Tomorrow, will see what Stornaway holds. Was able to grab unopened beers from the bar, just in case, and keep them in my room…
  3. This is a major issue for those of us who paid for premium plus. Dinner at Cagneys started at 8:00 pm, without wine. It picked up at 8:42 when they began serving wine. NCL dining slots are limited and you cannot just change dining time in the fly like this. We received no advance notice about the alcohol limitation. Still uncertain as to which ports are affected.
  4. Alcohol sales started at 8:42 pm in Cagney’s restaurant tonight. We had almost finished our entrees when the good news came. We immediately ordered a glass of wine! The Dawn was late leaving port, and we had to clear the estuary and Isle of Wight!
  5. Yes, not sure how many ports are affected. Ten-day cruise, eight ports of call. Three are in Ireland, so I am hopeful there. Twelve miles out to sea before drinks here? That’s 9 pm according to another poster. We are sailing on Celebrity side-to-side just after this cruise ends, also out of Southampton - I’ll be very surprised to see the same policies in force there!
  6. This is at the bottom of the Freestyle Daily: IMPORTANT “BEVERAGE NOTICE. Due to local UK customs and Border protection restrictions, Alcohol sales will be restricted during our stay certain ports of call. Non-Alcoholic beverage services will continue throughout the entire cruise.” Yes, the syntax/grammar is bad.
  7. It’s true. I just boarded Norwegian Dawn today, May 14th, 2023 - NO ALCOHOL being served and I have a premium plus drinks package. Garbage reason given by NCL. LAST SAILING.
