  1. I keep hearing this said over and over, and yet every time I've contacted a "highly rated" travel agent, they've quoted me prices way over what the cruise lines themselves are advertising. What's the secret to finding "a good travel agent" who doesn't inflate prices AND can still offer worthwhile OBC?
  2. Just make absolutely sure the SBP appears on your Viking ticket/receipt after you book. We had to chase down a support person after booking when we realized there was no mention of the SBP promotion on our booking after we submitted our deposit. Thankfully I took a screenshot of the Viking page that clearly laid out the free SBP promotion. They admitted the mistake and sent a new and updated ticket via email that clearly included the gratis SBP.
  3. I've yet to find a cruise loyalty program that actually offers anything of value without having to spend upwards of $200,000 US in cruises with them first. 10% off Wifi if you cruise with us ten times .... t h a n k s
  4. Thanks everyone! (Yes, I keep confusing Viking and Virgin.... we are definitely booked on VIKING, lol).
  5. First time Virgin cruiser here - headed for the Star in December. Hope someone can straighten us out on a few things. 1. "2 guaranteed priority reservations at each alternative restaurant: 70 days prior to departure". So is that 2 reservations per restaurant, i.e. 4 reservations total for the entire 14-day cruise? And if we want to book more than our allotted "priority reservations", is there a date when that becomes possible or do we have to do that only once we're on board? 2. Self-serve laundrettes... are these the no-charge machines that have detergent pre-loaded in them or do we have to bring/buy that separately? 3. Any word on whether Virgin will be requiring "official Virgin excursions only" as some other lines are doing, or do you think we'll be able to explore on our own at each port by December? Thank you!
  6. The wife of a now-ill passenger from the Feb 23 Silhouette cruise has told us that her government (Canada) contacted them directly to alert about the COVID case on her cruise. We've received no alerts (USA) from either CDC or Celebrity, and my wife's been horribly ill since the evening of March 9th (disembarked March 6th). Test taken March 11th, still no results back.
  7. It looks to me like the posts are still here? But I'm not sure how many there were in total. I do know that I posted this to the "Celebrity Silhouette" Facebook Group (8000+ members), and it started a huge discussion amongst people who had been on this exact cruise and had no idea about the situation.... and I was summarily removed and banned from the group as a result. People are actively limiting the dissemination of information about infected people on cruise ships and its mind-boggling to me.
  8. Man had symptoms for the last five days of the cruise. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/kitchener-waterloo/covid-19-coronavirus-waterloo-region-fifth-case-1.5497808?fbclid=IwAR1FLuqKnB5UAzXN9skUXZ3e09AgCmS9j9DCAZmgDgxVedu0xLaGZS7PQyQ
  9. Be careful people. Company in question (three confirmed coronavirus cases amongst its employees) is the one that specifically services Princess Cruises @ Port Everglades. This means terminal employees and luggage handlers. More info: https://www.sun-sentinel.com/coronavirus/fl-ne-coronovirus-metro-services-everglades-20200310-ocpt7i4jrzhdfkd5ilbp6sypte-story.html
  10. Be careful when you disembark tomorrow at Port Everglades. The company that services Princess Cruises specifically at Port Everglades (terminals, luggage handling, etc.) has now had THREE confirmed cases of coronavirus amongst their employees. Be extra vigilant when handling your bags, don't touch your face before sanitizing or washing your hands thoroughly. https://www.sun-sentinel.com/coronavirus/fl-ne-coronovirus-metro-services-everglades-20200310-ocpt7i4jrzhdfkd5ilbp6sypte-story.html
  11. Maybe a dumb question but I don't have a good idea of what type of track these cruises take around the Antarctic Peninsula... for a cruise like the Holland America Westerdam in late Nov 2020 (Santiago to Buenos Aires, with 3 days in Antarctica, no landings), which side of the ship gets the best scenery down there? My gut says starboard (right, facing forward) but I really have no idea.
