  1. You can do the goldstar train on your own which is a dome car.

I haven't been to Denali this year, but you may want to post your question on alaska forum of trip advisor. More regulars over there.

  2. I am back from my trip and had no issues making 9am tour. Major Marines starts shuttle at 7am to cruise dock.  I walked off before then and walked over to the major marines check in in the 360 hotel.  On the the northwestern tour, saw bubble net feeding, puffins,  porpoises, otters and more. Great tour.

Took the park connection bus to Anchorage right after to get to the airport.  Bus was okay but wasn't the most comfortable.

  3. I am arriving on Celebrity Millennium at 5am on Friday, July 15 in Seward. I would like to take the  9am 8.5 hour Kenai Fjord Northwestern tour. Major Marines shuttles start at the cruise port at 7am so that sounds like I could make the 9am tour. I would prefer to take the longer tour for puffins and other wildlife if I can make this time. Does anyone have experience making this tour on disembarkation day in Seward or remember what time walk offs started? Thanks.

Dang it.  I have the Yukon and White Pass railway excursion booked through Norwegian.  I am expecting it to get canceled since we're supposed to board the train in Fraser.  I'm bummed, we are taking my mother in law on her first cruise and first trip to Alaska and it's the one thing she really wanted to do.

I didn't do enough research my first trip to Alaska and really enjoyed the roundtrip one that you can still book.

  5. Thanks for posting.  I am booked with Chilkoot for Bennett train for August and didn't get an email.   I was wondering how I was going to handle complying with giving Canada vaccination info in an app within 72 hours of arriving when I will be on cruise.   I had booked a back up excursion with the cruiseline to Haines.

I wonder if our excursions in Victoria will be cancelled.

  6. It really depends on the country and sometimes the airline.  I had a land based vacation in October with final destination of Warsaw.  Transiting through Germany and going to Poland did not require a test. My flight was delayed and I missed my connection to Munich.  Was booked on a LOT flight to Lisbon and then on to Warsaw.  They didn't want my vaccination card, they wanted my test results.  Fortunately, I had decided to get a rapid antigen test 24 hours prior "just in case" or I would not have gotten on that flight.

That was October- this rules are constantly changing.

  7. I went to CVS for rapid antigen test for August 20th cruise. Made appointment online 2 weeks ahead of time and insurance covered it.  No problem.

I need to book a rapid antigen test in 2 weeks and no cvs within driving distance has rapid antigen appointments 2 weeks out.  Could have to do with CVS running out of rapid tests.

I am in Tampa, so be careful of counting on CVS in Florida.

  8. I had a pretty easy process with cvs getting rapid antigen test. Sign up for appointment 2 weeks ahead of time and fill out some info online. Got reminders and created a mychart sign on so I could print results out. Little confusing signage at the store where to go but I asked at the pharmacy and they directed me to the minute clinic.

Don't be late or they will cancel your appointment.  I printed results within an hour of the test.

  9. This may be a stupid question, but what do they mean by within 72 hours of embarkation? Is that my check in time?

So if I have a check in time of noon in Seattle on Friday, the earliest that I can get the test is 3pm EST on Tuesday, right?

Yes the Minute clinic is part of the CVS Pharmacy and the test is done drive through. They do both the Rapid Antigen and PCR/NAAT molecular testing at this location, not all locations do the rapid testing as they have to have the equipment to process it on site.

Here is the location and test description from the web site test scheduling page:

    2.31mi

San Antonio - Ih 10 W Poct Covid -19 Testing Site,

    22135 IH 10 W, San Antonio, TX 78257

    Test type: Rapid-result test (antigen)

Not accepted for all purposes, so be sure to check with venue, destination or airline.

    Results within hours

Thanks for clarifying.  This is what my cvs appointment had and it clearly has antigen on it like above.

My sail date is September 10 and currently beyond the Celebrity testing window, but I am going to make an appointment for the rapid antigen test when that appointment date opens up.

There are 2 rapid tests, antigen or naat…..the ship is saying we need antigen which most Cvs and Walgreens do not have

I am totally confused.  Not time for me to make an appointment yet, but my CVS had "antigen" next to the rapid test appointment.  Maybe it depends on the state and store? Sounds like I need to call CVS to verify the rapid test is an Antigen test.
