  1. Haha, we did not get kicked off the ship. Although our next port of call was Aruba and my husband asked the host if we had to leave. She assured us we could stay. I did feel bad about the other cruiser until the casino host said that lady is at a high level and gets lots of casino offers. Also, we did get to use the $600 free play.

I'm sure that it was a once in a lifetime experience for us.

  2. We are just off the Adventure and I thought I'd share our experience.

We have taken many cruises however we are not big gamblers. Actually, our budget is $40 per night for two people. About a month ago, I was looking at the casino website just killing time. I saw I was offered a free casino comp with $500 free play. Based on our past gambling, I thought it was a mistake, so at first I ignored it. Then I decided to call them and sure enough it was a real offer. So I made the reservation to go back on the Adventure but because there were no more balconies available, which was the offer, they offered an additional $100 free play if we agreed to an o/v cabin. Agreed!

After we were on the ship, my d/h thought he would ask a casino host why I was given the offer.  After speaking to several hosts because nobody could explain what happened, one of them asked to see my sea pass card. She went to a back room and after several minutes she came out and asked if we were on the Adventure in January. We were, and then she explained that another woman with the same name as mine was on the same sailing and I was offered her casino comp in error.

I thought they would log all information by CAS numbers and not names, but she said nope. Who knew?

    Great week!

  3. We are just off the Grandeur today after fourteen nights. No coffee maker the entire time. There were carafes filled with regular, decaf and hot water for tea in the Diamond lounge. However, when they were cold or empty, there was no way to get more.

We just gave up and used vouchers for coffee at Latitudes and hot water for tea at the Windjammer. Lots of running around each morning.

  4. I agree. We just completed our 41st RCL cruise. We usually cruise September thru April and then do land based trips over the summer. However, our granddaughter is planning on moving in with us in the fall for school. Because of that, we decided to take a quick cruise sometime from May thru July before she moves in and takes over the house.  Ha! I know all about summer prices, but yikes. Seems like prices are out of sight this summer. Lots of sold out categories as well.

I am doing the same, but I booked both set of B2Bs a year ago.  I won't starve, and will find someway to enjoy ourselves.  VCL bar...here we come!!  😉

Looking forward to reading about your experience on your B2B. My dh & I  are booked on the Jewel for early April.

We were on the Serenade out of Tampa for 17 nights in January and had a great time. Old menu the first leg and new menu for the second. All good to us.

B2B changing cabins:  Clothing on hangers in the closet is supposed to be moved for you (one of those garment carts) but need to put everything else in suitcases.  Let your cabin attendant know you are staying on, but changing cabins.  I would put a tag on those suitcases with your new cabin number, just to be on the safe side.  Could be as simple as a hand written note on them.

WJ has been open for dinner every night, and will be this week again as well.  We enjoy the open air dining for casual lunch on the aft behind the WJ.   Main dining room has been totally packed every night for dinner, and the only 3 specialty restaurants are very busy as well...especially Chops (which is tough to get a reservation for).  Makes me wonder how busy the WJ is for dinner, but I do know they are open each night.

    Thanks so much.

    Enjoy your second week!

  7. Island Lady,

Sorry, this is a little off topic.

My dh and I are going on a b2b next month. It's been awhile since we sailed on the Serenade. Is there anything you can share that I should be aware of.

We need to  change cabins on TAD. Do you know if we need to pack everything,  or just our toiletries?

I was reading the CC review and it says the Windjammer is only open for breakfast and lunch. Not open for dinner, correct?

Thanks for anything you can share.

My husband and I as well as 1 of our 5 kids never tested positive.  We just got the vaccine and 1 booster.  Have been traveling since the start and just was lucky.  Unfortunately on the Allure in October, I came down with the flu post cruise.  Had the flu vaccine 4 weeks prior and glad I did as it was pretty bad but not requiring hospitalization.  I was on an elevator with someone coming back from the port who just coughed and coughed without covering their mouth.  My hands were full of towels and my backpack plus a bag and it was so crowded, I couldn't move.  We were stopping at every floor so it was aggravating.  We don't wear the masks unless it's required.  When I checked my temperature the day we got back, I immediately took a covid test which was negative.  At urgent care, 2 days later with a terrible sore throat, I swore I finally got covid.  Nope.  The flu.  Tested negative for covid and positive for the flu.  Can't compare the 2 as I still haven't tested positive.

I'm sorry you contacted the flu. It's so annoying when some people are inconsiderate of others around them.

This was our fifth cruise since the re-start and  first time coming down with something.

We only wear masks when required also.

Next cruise is a b2b in January. Can't wait!

  9. I don't feel too bad. I guess it's a mild case. I'm hoping by tomorrow or the next day I will test negative. DH has tested negative and feels fine, so that's a good thing. We have been vaxed and boosted 5x's so I think that might be part of the reason I didn't get very sick.

We did not wear masks on or off the ship. I did see a handful of folks that did wear them though.

3catsinMA...I have picked up a cold many times on cruises which was not a big deal. Thought Covid was different!
