As someone who made his living through books, that makes me sad. Jim -

Thanks, "Duke". They are both what I am looking for (Sticky Toffee). Cannot wait to try them. Jim -
On a HAL cruise in the winter of 2025, we had a US $4 paid in cash (roundtrip/return) shuttle bus in Ensenada from the port to city center. It was okay. Jim

Bond. James Bond! I interviewed with the NSA in 1964. Not enough foreign language skills. Darn! Jim -

I graduated from my high school in 1959. At that point, I had studied French for three years and Russian for one year. I could read and speak Russian better than French. I could write French better than Russian (those Cyrillic letters!). Now 65 years later, I know more French than Russian but I can still say a couple of Russian words. Jim -

Hi, Caipi, When I retired from book publishing in 2011, I volunteered at my local library. They taught me how to install eBooks on my tablet. What a Godsend for my travels. No more lugging books in my luggage or searching for a European bookstore that sold books in English. Jim -

I read at "normal" speed. I have always been impressed by those who "speed read". Jim -

In the 1960s and 1970s, my father owned about 8 thoroughbred racehorses. One, Adobe Ed, raced in the Belmont Stakes (last of the Triple Crown races) in 1971. Finished second or third from LAST place. When he got rid of the horses, he said it was because they had stopped talking to him! It was fun standing in the occasional winner's circle. Jim -

Hi, Victoria2, One of my great book pleasures was working for Edward Rutherfurd's US publisher, Crown Publishers. I love his books and met him at more than one sales conference. I agree about ship's libraries. I cannot re-read a book because once I restart, I remember what comes next. In Seattle, there is a great independent bookstore on Capitol Hill, Elliott Bay Books. If you ever get here, look them up. University Bookstore is another great one. In Bellingham, near the Canadian border is Village Books. Jim -

One of the best and worst experiences ever. Best because of dealing with people every day and talking about books. Worst because of my timing, the recession/gas shortages of the mid 1970s. Stayed in book publishing from 1975 to the present day, even though retired since 2011. Jim -

FUBAR on Netflix with Arnold Schwarzenegger. A spy spoof, very funny, two seasons. A family that spies together stays together. Jim -

When I owned a bookstore (mid1970s), it was hard to keep track of AC's titles because the book covers kept changing. As a reader, and with my computer (since 2005), I keep track of books read by title and author. Jim -

Because of health issues, we stopped drinking alcohol about 40 years ago. Occasionally, a sip of holiday wine. I enjoy seeing other people's choices of drinks. Skoal! Jim -

I am a Roulette gambler (worst odds, I know!) but can play for a long time because of how slow the game progresses. Jim
