  1. I agree. Jim
  2. As an outsider, I have watched some cricket matches on TV. We even have a professional cricket team here in Seattle, part of a new national cricket league. The team does not play any matches in Seattle. Sometimes, I think I know what I am seeing but mostly I am adrift. In any case, I like watching the sport. Jim
  3. Once upon a time, I had clients who ran a bookstore and a concert ticket agency. They thought they were doing me a favor when they got us front row tickets for a concert (possibly Oak Ridge Boys, but do not remember). After the concert, my wife Madie and I walked out of the venue and literally could not hear each other. Jim
  4. I took cruises in 1959, 1966 and 1989 and I do remember the midnight buffets. I partook of the food in 1959 and 1966, much younger and more fit than now or in 1989. Jim
  5. For health reasons, I watch what I eat, even on ships. Consequently, I can actually lose weight on a cruise because I do not eat snacks as I do at home. Even having a dessert or two. Jim
  6. My choices from this menu would be: Caesar Salad, Beef Wellington, Marzipan Panna Cotta. What did you choose? Jim
  7. I just looked at the weather reports for SE Alaska. Rain and 55-60 degrees (F) for the next 6 days. Hope you rain gear and warm clothing. Such are the vagaries of Alaska's weather. Jim
  8. Part 2. Sorry about your divorce. Shopping can be fun but I only go when I need something. In and out quickly but satisfied. Jim .
  9. I have not tried it on, yet. I lost 60 pounds (weight, not money) since I last wore it. Jim
  10. Hi, GoGo Baby, I, too, spent a lot of time on the road. My destinations were more like Boise, Missoula, Corvallis, etc. When I moved to Seattle from New York, I was a three piece suit traveler. Within a year, I adapted to the more casual style that the Northwestern US embodies. I got rid of my suits and sports coats (blazers) but kept my tuxedo (wore only twice in fifty years). Next year (2026), we go on our first Cunard (QE) cruise. Glad I kept it! Jim
  11. Reeves35, Sweater (jumper) over a shirt is my kind of "Smart Casual". Jim
  12. I agree about the food choices in the buffet. But I also like to have my dinner served to me. So, I will accept the fewer choices/hotter meals in the MDR. Even if I have to wear a tuxedo! Jim
  13. Great photos. Thanks for giving us a peek at the "new look" QE. Jim
  14. Thanks for the photos. Love the new look. Jim
  15. Hi, WhiteOptima, You need the booking number for all parties involved. You can work with a travel agent to include everybody or you can call HAL to do it. I have done it both ways. Have fun. Jim
  16. Here is list of my "Favorites" playlist. All are on You Tube. I have a 1950s vinyl of the Bennie Goodman concert. 1. Benny Goodman/Gene Krupa "Sing, Sing, Sing' 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert, extended version. 2. Glenn Miller "In the Mood" any version. 3. Dave Brubeck "Take Five" original version. 4. "Amazing Grace" especially with bagpipes. Always brings a lump in my throat. 5. "Danny Boy" on bagpipes or by Celtic Woman. More lumps! 6. "Radetsky March" live by the Vienna Symphony. 7. Bo Diddley's playbook. My late brother introduced me to his music more than 60 years ago. In my opinion, the best guitarist ever. 8. Bill Haley and The Comets, one of the founding fathers of 50s Rock and Roll. I always thought it was "Shake Marilyn Monroe" in the mid 1950s. I learned it was "Shake Rattle and Roll" later. 9. Pete Seeger with or without The Weavers leading proponents of my folk music genre. Jim
  17. I hope you have a great cruise. Looking forward to any comments you have about it. Jim
  18. Anthony's Pier 66 and Bell Street Diner are in the same building. Both are excellent. The Diner is less expensive, both part of the same company. Jim
  19. There are a few types of music I do not enjoy (hip hop, grunge, most rock post 1970, etc.). Before our last transatlantic cruise, we spent a week in Amsterdam. For my birthday, we attended a concert by the Concertgebouw Symphony (is that the correct name?) in their 175 year old hall. It was a bucket list item for me dating back 60 plus years. And it was a bargain at about 28 Euros/person. What a thrill! Jim
  20. Try Bell Street Diner/Anthony's Pier 66. Same owners, same location. Diner is downstairs, Pier 66 is up. Diner is less expensive. Both give great views of either Elliott Bay or a cruise ship in port. Jim
  21. Sorry about the rain but we really need it. In semi-drought conditions for a couple of years. Jim
  22. Who could forget the gravy!? Jim
  23. As an American, I love Bangers and Mash, Yorkshire Pudding, Spotted Dick (regardless of what Parliament calls it), Sticky Toffee, Shepherd's Pie, Pasties, etc. Who says British cuisine does not exist? Jim
