  1. It really helps that my women’s club is attracting younger members. When I was talking to one of my Bunco groups members, she commented that we now have two young women playing. Those two new ladies are in their 70’s!!!
  2. After our daughter’s house had 4 feet of water in it from Hurricane Matthew, their insurance company flat refused to pay for drywall replacement above 4 feet. Lisa and Jon paid for the rest to the ceiling, both to prevent any future mold issues, and because she was sure there would be an obvious difference looking at the wall.
  3. I got it and thought it was well executed. I have friends that that would seriously fit. Sarcasm is a wonderful thing!
  4. I am so ticked at CBS putting my shiws on later. I loved NCIS and Amazing Race. I don’t watch tv as a time user. After Jeopardy I’ll watch for an hour, then read. If my 2 shows aren’t on at 8, I don’t watch anything. I start reading and don’t go back to tv at 9 or good grief! 10.
  5. We were going to get our 3rd COVID booster this month. My doctor said to wait till three months after the onset of our bout with COVID. Maybe because we’ll already have a boost from the infection? That puts our shot right after Thanksgiving. I had not read that anywhere. And then saw it in the New York Times. Don’t know if that adds credence or takes it away.
  6. We came home from a week at a resort once and unpacked. No problems. The next day the resort called and asked if the drawer full of mens’ clitges was hours. Duck unpacked and never noticed shorts, bathing suits and tshirts missing. Was his suitcase only half full? Yes, but he said he didn’t weigh it, just unpacked it.
  7. It all depends. If a home is in a flood zone and the homeowners pays extra to have flood insurance, he’s covered. If he doesn’t have flood insurance, then if it is determined that the water was wind driven, he’s probably covered. If he is flooded, no flood insurance, and it is determined that the water was not wind driven, he is probably not covered. The government has a program called FEMA that helps people whom insurance will not cover. Anyone up on homeowners, correct me if my info is baaad!
  8. All they need is a wedding celebrated with the people that love them and wish them a happy life together. And they don’t need to invite anyone that isn’t 100% invested in their joyful day. I hope they have that warm, loving wedding and a bright, beautiful future.
  9. Northeast Florida is straight south of Pittsburgh! Hurricanes coming up the coast zoom by far out enough out to miss the coast till at least Hilton Head. Dora found us in 1964 when she came straight in from the Atlantic and came ashore in St Augustine. The Jacksonville beaches lost a few houses and we lost power for 7 1/2 long days and nights. iI don’t think even then that the Amelia Island area got much damage.
  10. We’ve used Park N Go for years. Never have to wait for a shuttle. Enroll in their frequent parkers program and earn credits. Even when only cruising once a year, we earned four free days to use on our last cruise. It’s a surface lot, but fenced. On returning, they drop you at your car. And when driving out, you get bottles of cold water. For us, it’s a win win!
  11. That’s great! Water in the backyard and downed trees are almost a good thing compared to what could have happened!
  12. Here in Jacksonville, we had no major problems. Tree branches and minor flooding. The mayor didn’t even order mandatory evacuations of the beaches. our kids live in St Johns County right below us. Scott’s house is on the St Johns river. The river started coming up during low tide and came closer and closer to the house. They allowed for some flooding when they built it and it’s an extra 2 feet off the ground. The water eventually came a foot up the wall. The dock was under water part of the way and sitting right on it the rest. The orange roof is the boat lift, but they moved their boat to a friend’s yard, along with the jet skis. The jet ski dock is completely under water. They have a sea wall and an 18 inch retaining wall. Both completely under water. Our daughter and son-in-law live on the ocean and that house is fine. They only lost internet. And the steps from the dune walkover down to the sand. However, they also have a house six blocks away on a canal off the Intracoastal. That’s where they keep their boat and jet skis. Hurricane Matthew, which I think I mentioned, put 4 feet of water on the first floor. It took from October to March to have it gutted, including the floor, and rebuilt. Today my son-in-law tried to drive over in his big truck and couldn’t get near it. The street to get to their street was completely flooded. A neighbor called to tell them that the flooding is worse than Matthew. They had decided to sell the house, but, as Lisa said, even after the first floor is rebuilt again, they will have to tell potential buyers that it has flooded twice. At least they have a place to live. So many people have nowhere now. The top photo is Scott’s back yard with water up to the edge of the patio. The next one is Scott’s back yard which is right now mostly river. And then the street to Lisa and Jon’s other house that Jon couldn’t get to in his F250. The orange roof is the end of the dock.
  13. Mine would be Frasier. The episode where Niles is alone and ironing a shirt cracks me up just thinking about it. The whole cast was excellent.
  14. There a hilarious video of him arriving on a beach in swim trunks and sunglasses carrying and beach chair, and as he’s sitting down, people see him and start screaming and running. Surfers running out of the water, parents grabbing their kids. They’re terrified! He looks around and they’re all gone. He can clear a beach quicker than a shark!
