  1. They used to have the news on the stateroom TV and this too has stopped. Can't blame this on printing paper. Just straight cost cutting. Easier to justify dropping the print versions when the content is still available on your TV.
  2. If your bid is still pending the latest notification would be 48 hrs. before sailing.
  3. Maybe the system identified Sydney as in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. We received this email for our June cruise that sailed from Newport R.I. to Sydney, N.S.
  4. For our June New England/Canada cruise on the Summit the main gangway for port excursions was usually deck one mid ship. When staying in the newer OVs on deck 3 it's easily accessed by the midship staircase or elevator near the foyer. There was also another gangway further forward. The computer lounge is on deck 3 port side next to the mid ship elevator by the foyer/guest relations ahead of the new OV cabins. For our stop in Halifax they did set up a gangway near this area.
  5. We have had better luck with full tables of 10 on past Mediterranean cruises and thoroughly enjoyed the company of our tablemates. More recent cruises sailing the Caribbean and New England our larger tables were less than half occupied. Last December on the Equinox we had a table for 10 in the centre of the MDR and most nights we were the only ones there. We always take late seating. Maitre D said early seating on Carribean cruises more popular and opposite for Mediterranean cruises.
  6. Your remaining credit balance when boarding will be converted back to USD at the "same" locked in rate in reverse. Using your example above the $38.41 CAD would convert back to $29.05 USD (0.7564).
  7. Perhaps X should just set reasonable prices to begin with and reduce the number of games they play with their pricing. Last cruise we had multiple revisions to our invoice. This system and constant repricing must drive a lot of traffic to their call centres and increase their customer service costs.
  8. Yes. The gratuities will draw from any OBC balance you have.
  9. You should still be able to modify or cancel the "pending" bid.
  10. I'd say at least 30 days out. We received our invitation to bid earlier than that 45-50 days before sailing.
  11. We just walked off the ship. No visa required.
  12. Long time to go without an acknowledgement or response from them. Do you plan to follow up?
  13. Summit needed a refresh/update. Think you will be pleased with how things turned out.
  14. Still, if the airplane or in this case, ship has not departed it is still within the jurisdiction of the host country.
  15. No, not inferring that. The U.S. CPB agent can deny entry. However, the point I am making is that they are still operating within Canada and the Port of embarkation is within Canada.
  16. I am not so sure about this. Even though you are preclearing U.S. customs and immigration in Vancouver you are still within the legal jurisdiction of the host country, Canada.
  17. You should keep your original booking number. It will just have a new revision number. As you are just repricing your stateroom should also stay as is. Since you did not reduce or drop your OBC in repricing your CP bookings likely will remain intact. You should confirm this all with your TA.
  18. For what it's worth we booked a Celebrity December 2018 Caribbean cruise last summer through Air Canada Vacations and did not have to make payment until final cruise payment date. However, in that case we did pay for seat selection.
  19. We booked our flights beginning of February for departure end of June. We booked it through our Celebrity cruise planner who must have had access to the system. We booked basic economy for fights between YYZ and Newark, NJ. Maybe it's different for overseas flights.
  20. For our recent cruise we used Flights by Celebrity for our Air Canada flights and we did not have to pay until our final cruise payment. Seat selection was also done through them free of charge but only once we made final payment.
  21. It's quite likely that at the time you booked your cruise that the $25 pp deposit was refundable up to final payment date. You should double check your invoice.
  22. For our recent cruise we did not get our notification until 2 days before sailing (all rejected). However, based on what you have in hand you win either way.
  23. Further to this get a US $ bank account. If you can afford to do it buy and hold US dollars when exchange is favourable and use it to pay off US dollar credit card. We have TD Borderless account as well as TD US visa credit card. It's very easy to transfer between the two, $US to $US. Purchased some US $ several years ago when exchange was a little over par to $US and then a while back when exchange was around .82.
  24. I agree with your theory. If this is indeed the case, it's plain wrong and discriminatory. Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely watch this closely next time we book. Maybe a question worth posing to LLP.
