  1. I might still keep one of the reservations just to get the Dover sole. I had the Morimoto epic lobster 2 nights ago in the MDR. Oh Lord it was so good! It was the four tails with some flavorful butter sauce. It was too much, but I forced myself to finish it...don't like to waste food😅

I plan to order it again next week towards the end of the cruise. I will try to remember to post a picture of it!

  2. My daughter and granddaughter walked around while there and got some of the donuts behind the main building? . They are the mini donuts with so many flavors and hot! Wonderful! The boys went on a fishing boat. When us girls went back to the ship (RCCL) we went to a lounge to play cards and all of a sudden there were alot of whales swimming and showing of all around the ship! I mean so close you had to stand and look down out the windows to see them. Then you could see all the whale tour boats flying in to see them. We got a free whale show! Honestly, I think either Juneau or Icy Straight Point would be great for seeing whales!

Thanks for your replies.   I have decided to go with Jayleen’s In Juneau.  Since this is a short stop we are just going walk around the port and enjoy the scenery.

Me,my daughter, sil and 3 grandchildren went with her last May. Had a wonderful time and she was absolutely fantastic!

The ships have about 15 daily menus to choose from. I am not aware the ships are directed to us any particular set or selection of those menus.

Get the Navigator app. You will be able to follow the menus being used in advance of your boarding.

How far in advance of your cruise will you be able to see the menus on the app? Thanks.

  5. For me, I always arrive the day before the cruise on an overnight flight from Atlanta. I cannot sleep on a plane so I arrive tired and wrinkled. I have done the shared shuttle to Civi, which was not bad, but I usually do the private transfer to Civi. I just want to go to my hotel, take a 2 hour nap, then walk around awhile then have a nice dinner. I will take an Ambien before I go to bed and try to help my body get use to the time change. Yes, there is nothing special in Civi, but there are a several nice restaurants and I feel safe walk walking around alone.(I tend to travel solo). I do love Rome, but why stay at the airport hotel? The cost for a taxi into Rome and back is fairly expensive. I would stay in Rome and put they money towards a shared van to Civi on cruise day. You can often find others on your roll call to share a hotel pickup transfer. (I think I saw you on a roll call this morning) I will be on that TA,too.

  6. I am excited to keep up with your post. I will be on Niew Statendam on the November TA. I would love to hear more about the foods you order...like were you able to taste the lobster in your dumplings, did the lobster bisque have much flavor etc. I will be traveling solo, so will not be able to share dishes and try more options . Sorry your tour was canceled and hope you find something interesting to replace it with. Sounds like you are the type to go with the flow and just enjoy yourself! Hope you have fun!!

  7. Well, the train doesn't leave until 6:45PM. So if you don't care about arriving late to Anchorage it might be worth it. It must be nice to get up and stretch yours legs if you need to, but I would guess I would just sit and watch the scenery. I took the Park Connection Motorcoach because it left at 9:45am and I did not want to have to rush off the ship. Hollands bus left much earlier. It was a very pleasant ride and they made a 15 minute stop to see some scenery. They will drop you off at the airport or downtown.

  8. Tamarind is $29 plus 18%. It is strange though....... I noticed in fine print under Pinnacle and Caneletto that extra appetizers would cost extra(different prices for them) but did not see this under Tamarind. This was noted on the app when I was checking prices.

  9. I seem to keep alternating between them. I love  Celebrity for the smoke free casino and the Cafe al Bacio which is overlooking the atrium and great for coffee, tea, and socializing. I love Holland for the music, especially BB King's and the chamber music they offer. As far as food, I love Murano's on Celebrity and Tamarind on Holland. Otherwise,in my opinion the food is fairly equal. People dress the same on both. Oh, and I love the Solarium on Celebrity, a peaceful adults only place to relax and swim! Really can't go wrong with either.

  10. I was on a Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise in June with grandkids. I live on east coast and am early riser, so on the cruise the latest I could make myself sleep was 4 am. Room service would not make deliveries until 6 am. I thought I would go crazy 🥴 needing my coffee!!!  There was NO WHERE to get coffee before 6am. Holland advertises 24hr room service on their website...do they REALLY do it?? Will I be able to get coffee and pastry at 4am?? I will be on Aug. 28 Alaska cruise on NA and am stressing 😳 already!! Thanks for any information.
