Sadly I’ve decided it’s time to quit heels.  I bought a few 1 inch wedges and up to 2 inch kitten type heels to replace all my high heels.  I most only wore them on cruises or to weddings but I’ve found steps harder in them and my knees kill me the next day if I try to dance in heels anymore.  Age has caught me for sure.  Not ready for orthotics yet though.  Lol.

I sympathize with you.  I use to love my heels but my feet have gotten old and tired.  I love to dance but no longer in heels. In the evening I mostly wear platforms or flats.  I have certainly not cut down on how many pairs I bring with me though.

  2. This will be our first time cruising the Mediterranean, Spain, Italy and France.  It will be the middle of May and I have no idea what type of clothes I should pack for our excursions.  Only one sea day so lots of bathing suits are not needed.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    A casino thread, woohoo!

I recently received a 30% off casino voucher from my November sailing on the Meraviglia!  DH was very proud of me for my casino contribution because 30% off is pretty sweet.  After reading some success stories from fellow CC members, I was delighted to learn that the casino offer CAN be combined with my 5% off Voyager's Club membership.  So who wouldn't jump on a 35% savings?!  Reaching out to my trusted TA with voucher in tow, I selected an August itinerary (well within the required 9 month expiration time of the voucher) for an interior YC stateroom, 7 nights on Seaside.  Price before taxes is $1739 pp.  With 35% off, the total price of this cruise becomes $2260 plus tax.  Not too shabby!

Fast forward to Round 1:  MSC customer service rep told my TA that I could use the 5% off or the 30% off but not both.  🤦‍♀️...Which one did I want to use?  🤦‍♀️

So I reread the fine print on the voucher:

Hmmm, where do you think this will go, CC friends?

I can’t get over how much you’re paying for an inside cabin.  The YC doesn’t excite me at all.  Good luck.  I think you will eventually get both but it’s not going to be easy.

Done, ordered bottle of red and bottle of sparkling and although it seemed to accept my cc I did not get any acknowledgment so I tried ordering another bottle of red and received receipt. Checked cc and both transactions were recorded. Gave it a couple hours and under the appropriate booking I do have two red and one sparkling waiting for me, yeah, success.

My cruise is in Europe.  Maybe that’s why I am not able to see any extras yet.

It should be there, sign in to your cruise and click on beverages packages/purchases, if you scroll under that the various choices should show up, initially it appears that the only choices are the packages but the individual bottles are beneath that.

I checked.  There is nothing other than the beverage packages which we already have.  Maybe it’s too soon. I’ll keep checking.  Thank you for answering

It is indeed spectacular. Hope the "software" to be up to par with the huge "hardware" they have here!...

Welcome to Europe. In May don't forget to bring an umbrella because there might to be some rain at this side of the pond from time to time. Nights may be quite cold as well, so be prepared! You'll enjoy a great time.

    Have a nice day!...

  7. This will be our first visit to Naples.  We definitely want to see Pompeii.  We aren’t sure if we should go with the excursion on the ship, go with a local tour operator or do it on our own.  We don’t arrive in Naples till 1pm.

  8. My family and I, 6 total, will be sailing in May.  I have so many questions but most can’t be answered until it starts cruising the end of December.  This will be our first on MSC and first in Europe.  There are quite of few videos on YouTube.  It looks spectacular.

We no longer cruise on RCI (that ship sailed once they decided to get into the Mega ship game).  Thirty years ago it was our favorite line and DD was Diamond before age 14.  It is possible we would try one of those mega ships when, and if, we took our grandsons on a cruise.  As to MSC, I do understand their emphasis on amenities for teens and kids as their target group are families.  But, for us, MSC is all about the Yacht Club.  On our recent Seashore cruise, we only left the YC enclave to go to a few of the shows and one port day, when the ship was empty of passengers, we want to the Lido at lunch to grab some pizza.  Otherwise, we spent all of our time inside the YC.  In fact, we never even bothered to go look at the kids/teens facilities.  We think that MSC does a fantastic job with the YC (which is the only reason we cruise on the line).

I guess I find it hard to only use a very small area of the ship during your sailing.  How can you review a ship if you don’t see it all?  Hey, to each his own.

  10. We will be arriving in Genoa on a Sunday.  Will most businesses be open or closed?  Also on any other day, do businesses close for lunch?

Thanks for any info.  This will be our first visit to the Mediterranean.

  11. Am I correct?  MSC is the only cruise line still making US residents cruising the Mediterranean to get a Covid test.  It makes no sense to me.  Only Americans cruising the Mediterranean must get a Covid test.  No one else?  To be honest, this is my family’s first cruise with MSC and after all the problems with customer service and now this, it will be our last cruise with them.  Going back to RCCL.
