Ginger beer is basically the same concept as root beer. Shouldn't be an issue unless you get a clueless port worker and even then should be pretty easy to talk to them and explain.

I would say the Eclipse sailing is not underwhelming, but that's only 1.

Same here. I'm nervous, but most of what I've read has said it should clear within the next month or so (at least enough for ships to return). Expedition ships are already getting through. At this point, just hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. 🙂

I never actually said it was the largest reason. I said people largely purchase it because of this (and I do know from experience being a TA). Especially after the pandemic, people are more concerned with illness disrupting their travel plans. But this side discussion really doesn't change things for the OP anyway, so its kind of unnecessary at this point.

Question for anyone recently off Carnival Dream
Pyxie replied to Pineapple Princess's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
While you can purchase on board, you can also bring a 12 pack of cans per person which would work out to be cheaper than buying on the ship. -
NCL to cruise from Philly, would Carnival?
Pyxie replied to jimbo5544's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Well they won't have Charleston anymore. -
Not to harp on the travel insurance thing, but if Carnival offered refunds anytime you have record of a medical issue, there would be no need for anyone to buy travel insurance. This is the primary reason it is offered.

I don't even think they have the same song list from ship to ship. One ship had Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee" but another ship had the original Kris Kristofferson version (and it didn't specify this in the list so I was fairly surprised when the wrong version started playing).

Set dining time or "Your Time" dining
Pyxie replied to Softservekid1's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I've been cruising for 10 years and have not once done set time dining. I'm YTD all the way. At first, this was mostly because we are not interested in being seated with strangers and there is really no way to guarantee a table for 2 with set dining. But over the years, we've enjoyed the flexibility and have rarely had extremely long waits. I can remember maybe 2 times the wait was 30 minutes or more, but now that you can check in on the app from anywhere on the ship, this is no longer a problem. And as said, on the Excel class, YTD is really the way to go so you can choose to eat dinner in one of the included specialty restaurants without waiting until after 7:30pm. If you have late dining anyway, this may not be a big deal, but could be annoying if you are used to eating at 6pm. -
Elation in 2014 for our 10th wedding anniversary. Now we are getting ready to celebrate our 20th on the Pride 14 day to Greenland.

Carnival excursions in Alaska are SO expensive!
Pyxie replied to maxandmolly's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
If you want to do the Tracy Arm small boat excursion, book it now. It sells out fast. -
We almost always book port side and more often than not we've had a view of the pier. I know people say it doesn't matter, and technically it doesn't, but I do feel like port side faces the pier more often.

Quite frankly, that employee was wrong (and it's not rare to get someone on the phone who doesn't give the correct information). You can always get a table for 2 with Your Time Dining. You may just have to wait a bit. There is never a guarantee with set dining.
-
It's actually more likely your cabin sleeps 2. They rarely allow you to book a cabin that holds a higher capacity.
-
Port fees can fluctuate and are not always the same depending on when you book.

Could you do scuba driving before or after the actual cruise? That's a long flight to go straight home anyway.

People say this a lot and it's true.. But if we are at separate tables I don't feel obligated to engage in conversation with them as I would if we were at the same table.
