    Captain of Queen Elizabeth

Hi does anyone know who is the current Captain of QUeen Elizabeth? We are joining her on Wednesday for a quick trip to Adelaide 🙂
  2. I have just been contacted by Cunard to say that Q927 (4 October 2019) will be calling at IJmuiden not Amsterdam. There will be a free bus, but a 40 minute ride, compared to a short walk. Just in case anyone else was thinking of booking this trip.

    Queen Elizabeth Fremantle February 2019

Queen Elizabeth will be in Fremantle on Monday 4 February 2019 and I'm planning to drop by to see her in port. The Port Authority website shows her departing at 22.00, which is rather later than I've seen any Cunard ships depart Fremantle in the past (but it's good for me as I'll have to get away from work and have dinner near the port). Usually they leave around 17.00 or 18.00. Does anyone - maybe even someone currently on board - have any other confirmation of departure time on that day?
  4. Hi everyone we are going on the Queen Vic again but only cabins left in our usual Princess grill choice are on deck 8 ! We have a choice of 8080 80856 or 8078. We are worried about noise am / late pm ? They seem to be under the LIdo deck ? Any advice ? Has anyone stayed in any of the cabins ?
  5. On some cruise lines, we have travelled with suite passengers have spa access included (equivalent to aqua spa area). I suspect this does not apply on Cunard? I was also wondering, do the Q4 suites have a sun lounger on the balcony? Many thanks.

    Queen Elizabeth 2018 Refit

I've noticed several articles lately about QE's 2019 itinerary mentioning she will be starting the 2019 season following a refit in late 2018. The Cunard FAQ shows QE's next scheduled refit is in 2018 (following her previous refit in 2014). I see there is a gap in QE's 2018 schedule between November 14 and November 30, 2018 so that's my guess as to when the refit will be happening. I haven't noticed any previous discussions about QE's upcoming 2018 refit here, so I thought it might be time to get a discussion started about it. With apparently only two weeks scheduled, I imagine routine maintenance will be the primary focus of this refit. I don't suppose there are many details out there yet about this refit, but if anyone has anything to contribute, I'd be interested to here about it. For starters, do we know if she will be going to Blohm+Voss or Fincantieri this time? Regards, John
  7. Hello fellow cruisers, We have never cruised with Cunard before. I read each person is allowed to bring one bottle of champagne on board. Is this true? Thanks!
  8. We embark on our Christmas cruise on Queen Elizabeth December 17 2018, never cruised at Christmas before. Could anyone tell me their past experiences to what we can expect on Christmas day regarding meal times etc. Thank You.

    Queen Elizabeth: 14-17 December

Hello everyone I’m travelling on the Xmas mini cruise on QE from 14-17 December. I received an email this morning to say that due to a need for essential equipment testing, the scheduled sea day has been replaced by another day in Zeebrugge (so we now have two in total). Does anyone have any more info on this? I know that the QE has just returned to service following an upgrade. Is work still ongoing?
  10. We will be staying at the Marriott Pinnacle and was wondering what would be the best way to get to Queen Elizabeth Park. Can we walk there, take the skytrain? --- prefer not to take bus or cab. Thanks in advance.
  11. Good Evening to All: We are Tom and Ron from Oakland, California and are on the Queen Victoria from SF to Sydney 2/6/19. Reaching out to anyone who is interested. Recognizing that this is part of the Victoria's World Cruise, but couldn't find that on the Gay roll calls either. Happy sailing!

    Dress for Cunard

I will be doing a transatlantic cruise in April. It seems people say that you can dress in jeans in the AM then dress smart casual for tea and finally dress for dinner. Will I need to change clothes 3 times a day?

    Solo on Cunard's Queens

I am Mike from Texas. My first solo, will be next year 22 September 2019 On Queen Mary 2 Southampton, Hamburg M929c Hamburg Southampton, Le harve, NYC M930. I have met other singles on other crossings, (the next will be my 17th) but we have never discussed the subject of solo sailing. I would like to hear from others who have sailed on Cunard's Queens and get their impressions. Thanks
  14. Well now I'm second guessing my hotel choice in Elizabeth. Currently we have booked the Country Inn & Suites across from the mall. We will not have a car so needed close to restaurants and the mall is a plus!:D This will be in Oct 2018. Now I'm looking into the Embassy Suites. It is suppose to be close to the mall too. Not sure how far each one is as far as walking distance. Problem is...the ES is about $100 more. Is it worth it to pay that much more? Both hotels have good reviews on TA. The only reason I even looked into it was because I new ES has a full cooked to order breakfast and an evening cocktails. Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

    Cunard Webcams

Here are bridge webcam images for the Cunard fleet. This latest version of the "Cunard Webcams" page has been modified to support the updates that were made to the Cruise Critic Community Boards in October 2018. Queen Mary 2 Queen Victoria Queen Elizabeth For reference, here are direct links to the webcam images themselves. QM2: https://www.cunard.com/webcams/qm2.jpg QV: https://www.cunard.com/webcams/qv1.jpg QE: https://www.cunard.com/webcams/qel.jpg Please note, as with previous versions of this page, your browser may serve up stale copies of these images stored in its internal cache from previous visits to this page. You may need to perform a hard refresh of this page to see the latest versions of these images from the Cunard website. For example, in most windows browsers, a hard refresh is accomplished via the ctrl-f5 key combination. When viewing this page on a phone, it can get a bit more complicated, involving going through your browser settings to clear cached images. But given these limitations, I hope some of you will continue to find this page useful.
  17. We'll be staying at the Embassy Suites in Elizabeth, NJ. We'd like to get to Central Park. (6th & W. 57th) Uber/Lyft/private - seems to run about $60+ one way Is there a way to accomplish this via train? subway? Absolutely ZERO experience using this kind of transportation. Can a Novice be successful? Thanks!

    Cunard Site Down?

Is anyone else having trouble logging into any of the Cunard sites (cunardline.com.au or cunard.co.uk or cunard.com)? I am in Australia. Over the past few weeks I tried to log into Cunard Australia and it directed me to UK site, but now none of them come up. People tried a variety of ways to help with that situation, to no avail. But now cannot access any.

    First trip on Cunard

We are new to Cunard. We have just booked the eastbound transatlantic for April 2020. We booked an inside with a bonus double upgrade to a balcony. I imagine it will be obstruted view which is fine. Does anyone know what the usual notification is as to what cabin we will be assigned and about how far from sailing date we will be notified?

    TA with Cunard experience

We have a great Travel Agent who is hard working, a good communicator and sweats the details but he is not very experienced with the Cunard line so I'm not sure we are always getting the best deals and perks. Can anyone either recommend a good TA who has a lot of Cunard experience or how one would go about finding such a person? Many of our friends are avid cruisers but we are the only ones who have sailed on Cunard and even our experience is limited. So, when it comes to what to expect, there is probably a lot that we don't know that we don't know, if that makes sense. Thanks Jack

    Queen Elizabeth Cabin: 8166 BE

Hi all, In the interest of assisting fellow cruisers I just wanted to give my balanced and candid feedback regarding the cabin my wife and I shared on a 14 day Canary cruise with Cunard 1-15th October 2018. General Cabin Feedback The Cabin was clean and not showing significant signs of being tired although a ship refit is imminent. The cabin was also very well maintained / cleaned by our steward, Edgar. Cabin Position: This cabin is at the rear most end of the ship with only a few staterooms before the aft. It is on deck 8 right below the Lido pool area. Ordinarily we would opt for a cabin with a passenger deck above and below to ensure less chance of noise but our choice to go away was last minute and there were few options left. Ship Movement / Sway Despite 4 metre sea swells on one evening we didn’t feel this cabin put us at any disadvantage having stayed previously in mid ships deck 5. I did hear other passengers complain that were at the front however. I have therefore concluded anything rear on mid ships is fine for ships movement etc. Plus Sides of Being Below Lido Pool Area: One single flight of stairs and a turn left / right gets you right into the buffet where you can get all the food / beverages you wish for when not using the other more formal dining venues. My wife and I found this very convenient. It was also very convenient for the Lido pool deck being as were less than a minute walk from it. Negative Sides of Being Below Lido Pool Area: As our cabin was directly below the Lido deck, every morning at around 6am we could hear deck chairs being dragged across the deck above us. This disturbance lasted only for around a minute but could be mildly irritating and I suspect for some this would be a big issue. Now at this stage I am risking sounding like a miserable so-and-so but I did actually struggle with sleeping on this voyage (not due to the deck chairs). One evening we decided not to go out and have a quiet night in with a view to going to sleep around 10pm so I could be fully refreshed for the next day. However… there was a deck party right above us and when this finished at 10:30pm I assumed that would be it. To my frustration it started again for the second sitting diners and continued until 12:30pm. I have no issues with late night parties and ordinarily would have been there myself. However, when I haven’t had a decent night sleep for days and am awoken by “Rock around the clock” with some loud mouth on a microphone repeatedly yelling “1,2-1.2.3, 1,2,3,4” you may understand my grievance. In my view at no stage should somebody lying in bed in their cabin with the doors / windows hear every word spoken, accompanied with the thuds of dancing and foot tapping from the entertainers through the floor. I’ve stayed in hotels above nightclubs with less noise! In fairness although some (including my wife) feel I am being a little “grumpy” in my feedback regarding the party, bear in mind I am 33 and this was only an issue for me once. If you were the kind of folks that liked to regularly retire early then with the Lido parties, this location is best avoided. Hope that helps somebody...

    Cunard Web site

Does anyone know if the Cunard Wen site in the UK is still down, not being able to get on to it for a week now.
  23. After my trip Southampton to Melbourne I have to go on to New Zealand. Cunard recommend not flying earlier than 1pm. The only decent flight for me is at 12.10pm, would mean being at the airport by 9.10am theoretically.. Anyone with experience know what might be the earliest time I could get ashore & clear the formalities ? Many thanks, John

    QM2 meets HMS Queen Elizabeth

From Cunard's Facebook page "Queen Mary 2 greeted the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in New York Harbor yesterday. Captain Christopher Wells, Master of Cunard's Queen Mary 2, said: "It is a huge honour to bring Queen Mary 2 to meet HMS Queen Elizabeth, for the first time, here in New York harbor, and for the opportunity to salute the Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier." Cunard Wifi

Most cruise lines are moving to unlimited internet packages and Cunard seems to be one of a very few still selling it by the minute. Has there been any buzz about Cunard changing that or do they seem firmly committed to the current plans? Also, I'm booked on a long World Cruise segment in 2020, one booking 43 days Sydney to Southampton followed immediately by the transatlantic. While there are segments starting at least in Cape Town, will I just get one free WC internet bonus for the long segment? Thanks Roy
