  1. Agree. With the KSF, some sailing are notably cheaper than similar on RCI. We just booked a 7 night Alaska on eclipse in June 2020 before the beverage package surcharge kicked in and for 2700 dollars for 2 adults and 2 kids with all 4 perks!!! On RCI the same equivalent cruise on serenade for 7 nights was 3600 and no perks. That is an absolute bargain for a family of 4. I was blown away by the price and we get better service and food on top of that.
  2. OMG they changed the name of the ship
  3. It was always quite busy on Eclipse two weeks ago, actually overcrowded a couple of nights
  4. Which location or room do you think is better and why: Ocean View Stateroom on Deck 3-3116 Veranda Stateroom-unknown deck or location. Thanks for your help! Have never cruised Celebrity before so I am clueless!
  5. This is exactly what we did. We were 2 points off Elite status before a14 night Caribbean cruise. I felt as you are feeling, so decided to book a 2 night repositioning cruise, Amsterdam to Southampton. Repositioning / short cruises are very rare from UK, but this one was a late addition due to an altered itinerary. Constellation had been taken away from Israel and moved to Amsterdam. Then in the Autumn, she was doing some wine cruises down to the Bordeaux region of France. We had never been to Amsterdam, so it was a good opportunity. We had some friends who did the same cruise, for the same reasons, but they were more points away from Elite than we were. They booked a concierge cabin, we booked inside. Minimum spend/ Maximum gain. The reason I wanted to become Elite was for the priority tendering. We had spent 3 hours trying to get off Eclipse in Split in 2010 and I never wanted to experience that long wait again. I also find the bag of free laundry very, very useful on a longer cruise, which all ours are. As mentioned previously, there are not many shorter ones from Southampton and if we fly to embark then we want to make the most of the effort of flying.
  6. My husband and I just returned from a 7 day Alaska cruise on the Celebrity Eclipse Sept 1-8 2019. It was one of my best cruises, and probably the most relaxing one. Since I was on a brand new ship, the Norwegian Bliss last January, I will be doing some comparisons. On the Eclipse I was able to relax more, and it was less crowded than on the Bliss. The Eclipse has 1426 staterooms with 2850 passengers. The Bliss is much larger with 2043 staterooms and 4004 passengers. The Eclipse was more quiet and relaxing than the busy energy on the Bliss. Since I wanted peace and quiet on this cruise, the Eclipse was the better one for that. When it comes to the embarcation lunch, the Bliss did much better for it’s passengers. The main dining room was open for ALL passengers as well as the buffet and the Local. With the stress of travelling, standing in line, checking in, customs etc. I like to sit down in a peaceful setting for lunch, and that was not available for me on the Eclipse. My options was Sushi on Five or the buffet. The buffet was crowded and busy, and not a good start on the cruise. I definitely had better options on the Bliss. We enjoyed the dining on Eclipse better than the Bliss. The Manhattan room on the Bliss was extremely noisy, while the Midnight Sonata on the Eclipse was quiet and calm. The service was much better on the Eclipse, and the food was better. The one negative on the Eclipse was that the 2 person dining tables were extremely close together, so it was like we were on a table for 4. On the Bliss we did not have that problem. We had Select Dining and it worked very well. Our cabin was 8279 which is one of the large balcony cabins on the bump. I spent most of my time on the balcony with my book, Diet Coke, Hot tea and blankets. This balcony, and a large balcony I had on Norwegian's Pride of America are the best balconies I have had. I am grateful to all the contributors on this forum who was able to help me find the perfect balcony for me. Since spending my day on the balcony is so important to me, and I don’t want to run to a bar whenever I want my Diet Coke, I brought my own 12 pack onboard. For others being able to bring some soda onboard is not important, but for me it is. It was an irritant for me that I had to go to the bar on the Bliss every time I wanted to drink some Diet Coke on my balcony. Norwegian’s ban on bringing soda onboard may be why I won’t choose them again. For others not a big deal, for me it is. One place where Norwegian did better on the Bliss, than what Celebrity does is the bathroom. Here is a picture of the spacious bathroom, with a fantastic shower on the Bliss. n I think the entertainment was good on both the Eclipse and the Bliss. I especially like the Paul McCartney tribute band on the Eclipse as well as their production shows. The singers were better on the Eclipse. The observation lounge on the Eclipse was forgettable. I didn’t even remember to take a picture of it. I will never forget the one on the Bliss with its 5 food stations and bar. Lots of loungers and places to sit or lay down. Here are some pictures. Bliss observation lounge The last portion of my review is where Eclipse wins. It is not even a competition the Eclipse is so much better than the Bliss. Service. On Norwegian Bliss you could feel the crew did not want to be there. They did the minimum they could get away with, and hardly ever smiled. On the Eclipse I was always greeted warmly with a smile. The servers knew our names. The bartenders knew our names, Our stateroom attendant, Menino, was amazing, and the service was excellent wherever we went. It was the best service I have experienced on all my cruises. This is the reason I will continue to cruise with Celebrity. So in summary: If you don’t mind being nicled and dimed, and If you want lots of activities (co-carts, lazer tag, bowling etc.) and you have young adults, teens and kids in your party, then the Norwegian Bliss is the ship to go on. If on the other hand you want peace and quiet, wonderful music everywhere, great food and a more elegant setting, and fantastic service, then the Eclipse is the way to go.
  7. I agree, some like to complain and hide their loyalty. I remember 4 or 5 years ago when fresh squeezed OJ was cut from the buffet, the pessimistic response was overwhelming, and I believe many of the orange juice quitters got called out on their bluff. We've canceled Eclipse for 2020, and our plans on Solstice for 2021. The product no longer holds the same value, considering the cuts we experienced in the Spring vs rising prices. Reviews have improved since June, so perhaps they've back peddled, but we're still out. I don't agree with many of LLP's decisions, but if others do, or are corrected, the industry as a whole needs the competition.
  8. We just had this package on Eclipse (Vancouver to Hawaii). We have 5 lbs of pictures! & the digital copy. Book it prior to boarding for $200, you can use your 20% (if elite) once on board, saved us $40
  9. Hi Jim & Iain! Glad to be part of your virtual cruise. We used to live on Grape Ave in Sunnyvale! We’re just off Eclipse (Vancouver to Hawaii) & anxiously awaiting Reflection for MardiGras & b2b ABCs. This will keep me occupied for a time! Enjoy your cruise! Melody
  10. My next two Celebrity cruises are Eclipse in January (S.America) and Reflection in July (Ire & Iceland). Any chance you are on these? Probably not since you would likely be on the roll call.
  11. Does anyone know if the NFL games are televised on the ship on Sunday and Monday, especially sea day? Thank you.
  12. We were booked on the March Great Barrier Reef cruise aboard Eclipse. There has been no contact from Celebrity, but we received a $900 deposit refund on our credit card. Not impressed by the way we were notified, with no options to change the cruise.
  13. We were on the Eclipse and LPC was the only menu. Since then they have added the 2nd menu & animation. So 1/2 the cruise the original menu other half the new menu, It is group” dining, meaning 2 seatings, everyone is served the courses at the same time you can’t linger over a course and at the end dessert, Coffee and they were moving folks out. Meal was good, animation was cute but in our opinion overpriced. We prefer a more relaxed meal where we can wait a bit after the entree before moving on to dessert. The
  14. I can’t seem to find info on what meet n greet or other activities for this cruise it’s akways so much fun to meet other cruisers please give me an update thanks margoe7762@gmail.com
  15. Yes.. I remember meeting you. Was a real delight. I'm busy packing today and doing all those last minute errands. Thanks for coming along. I have booked a lot of tours on the first cruise as it is an ALL EC cruise and many things will be subject to VAT. I booked all using OBC's. Will be interested in your Australia cruise. We have a couple cruises booked on Eclipse Nov 24 and December 23, 2020 which is right after her Revolution. It seems so far away but am sure time will fly by. Mandy - you have me sitting her laughing. Last year was not our year for smooth sailing. We got hit with 2 typhoons on the TP and Japan Immersion cruise and then two weeks later had to dodge a hurricane in the Atlantic. Regardless we had a wonderful time. Great to hear you will also be on the Nov 1 TransAtlantic. I be able to answer any of your questions once on board and really look forward to meeting you. Thanks much. I really enjoy all of the members of CC coming along. I learn so much for other and enjoy giving back. Hopefully the weather will be nice for us. I was checking this afternoon and the temperatures are looking very moderate in Rome and Greece is to be in the 70's-80's
  16. Getting up really early prior to arriving in Bora Bora seeing whales...Just stunning. Historical experience, visiting Pearl Harbour pre TP Cruise. Despite our family WW2 experiences being in Europe, just so memorable... Cruising from Flam in Tuscan on a beautiful spring evening. Long dusks, amazing views, food was pretty good too! Getting on the Eclipse in Southampton wearing an orthopaedic boot knowing that both my husband and I would enjoy 12 nights of pampering after a very difficult couple of months. Sincere thanks to Captain Leo who further made our cruise special by inviting us to dine with him. I dressed in posh frock plus posh shoe on one foot and enormous boot on the other!!!
  17. We had a great time on Equinox last month, first time on her but have sailed and loved the Silhouette, Eclipse and Millennium. The service was good, the food was good, the drink was good. Yes we had some issues, one fairly major, but they were dealt with and didn't ruin our holiday at all. It's the nature of the internet that it's easier to complain than praise and that happens often on here. Unfortunately sometimes the important things can get lost in the volume.
  18. I've noticed that. In July 2016 we sailed aqua class on Eclipse with the same itinerary with included beverage package for £1800 per person. The same cruise is now £2900 per person. I'd love to know how they justify the 61% price increase in three years. It is a great itinerary though!
  19. I'm looking forward to scheduling flights for our cruise to Alaska out of Vancouver in September on the Eclipse. Disembarkation day flight selections from VYR to Arizona are not so great. The one non-stop flight leaves at 11:40am and gets us home around 3:00pm, which at least gives us a few hours to settle back in before heading to work the next day. All of the other options leave VYR from 2:00 - 6:00pm, have connections, and would get us home after 9:00pm. The ship is scheduled to arrive at 8:00am and we are planning on taking the SkyTrain to the airport. There is one other ship in Canada Place that day. We don't have global entry, but would get it if it made this flight more possible - first time cruising with an added layer of airport customs which I hear is done in VYR, not when we land in the US. Would we be crazy to schedule the 11:40am flight knowing there aren't many remaining options if we miss it, or is this doable?
  20. Hello All, Our family of six just finished a round-trip cruise to Alaska out of Vancouver on the Celebrity Eclipse. I have enjoyed reading others' trip reports so I thought I would share my own. I'm no Jack London, but I hope you'll get something out of this. Our family is me 49, wife 51, my dad 78, her parents 83 and 88, and my son 18. We have been on 8-10 cruises, her parents have been on just one to the Caribbean last December. CRUISE DAY -1 - We picked up mom and met her parents at the airport. We got there early and had issues checking in because we were taking a different airline out versus the one back. They were concerned we were going to Vancouver and not ever coming back, so that delayed our check-in. By the time we finished check-in the security line had grown to epic proportions. We didn't originally ask for a wheelchair for mom who walks with a walker since security line was so short. However, we were able to get one for her later so half of us were able to zoom through the long line. Anyway, we boarded the 7:25 AM flight as soon as we got to the gate. A little more stress than we needed to start our day, but we didn't let it get us down. The flight to LA with Delta was great. Love the seat back entertainment with TV, movies, and music. Made the 5 hour flight feel much shorter. When we got to LA we met my brother in law who planned to spen the next 30 hours with us - all our time just prior to the cruise. He hoped to cruise with us but things didn't work out work-wise. Our flight to Vancouver left about an hour late because of various issues, but that didn't get us down. Love the Vancouver airport. Very organized and efficient. BIL went to get our rental car - a huge SUV - and we made our way through customs and baggage claim with help of a cart to get the parents through the airport without too much walking. We underestimated how much space we would need for the 7 of us plus our luggage. It took some packing miracles including me and son in the 3rd row seat with 4-5 bags on top of us and mom's walker across the second row passengers. It looked like a real CF in the pick-up area as we wedged all our people and things in the SUV - but we did it. We went to our B&B, Windsor House, and dropped everyone except BIL who went to his B&B nearby. We unloaded then found a place downtown for dinner recommended by a friend of BIL - Moxies. Service and food were great except for the first 10 minutes when they completely ignored us despite not being too busy. Once we got their attention they gave us some free apps and great food and service the rest of the evening. After that we were tired and went to bed after a long day of travel. Windsor House was very nice. We had a third-floor room. There was no AC but with the window open it was completely fine. The street was very quiet and we slept well. Next is Day 0 - highlights of Vancouver and late embarkation!
  21. We just got off Eclipse. I did not count how many free movies their were. I want to say 20 movies. I did see that at least one movie was also on the pay side. I'm not sure if it make any difference, but we were in a sky suite.
  22. Can you board Eclipse with your bags and drop them in your room and then go around the ship befor the rooms are ready?? Just off Equinox 2 weeks ago and they allowed bag drop off in your room before it was 100 % ready and it was GREAT!!
  23. It all depends how often you sail and how much you are willing to spend. Every time I look at cruise pricing Sky suites are AT LEAST twice the price of Concierge or Aqua Class. I personally would rather sail twice as often - especially if dining in Blu. We are Zenith so we get most of the suite benefits except Luminae. Were in Luminae on Eclipse earlier this year for 3 weeks and was not impressed !!! VERY limited menu. Yes you can order off the MDR menu but why should I if spending twice the price !!! Best bang for the buck is Aqua Class !!! Blu is 90% of Luminae. Or just book a lower level cabin and dine in specialty EVERY night for less than half the cost of a Sky Suite !!! Been on over 150 Celebrity cruises on every ship !!!
  24. On Eclipse LAX to Santiago 11/20 cruise. See # of cruise lines have cancelled their stop In Equador due to civil unrest across country. Not safe. Any word on itinerary change?
  25. Thanks to this cruise forum I was able to enjoy an extra large cabin on my cruise to Alaska Sept 1-Sept 8 on the Eclipse. No issues at all with the cabin, and balcony was amazing. Here is a picture for anyone else who is researching the large balconies.
