  1. Got an upcoming cruise with Celebrity and wondering where your vessel is just now? This will be an occasional update of where your cruise liner is docked or anchored until restrictions are lifted. Summer deployment should be APEX - still docked in St Nazaire awaiting her maiden voyage Europe CONSTELLATION - Akrotiri Bay, Cyprus Europe ECLIPSE - docked in San Diego, California Alaska EDGE - off CocoCay, Bahamas Europe EQUINOX - off CocoCay, Bahamas Caribbean INFINITY - off Tampa, Florida Europe MILLENIUM - anchored off San Diego, California Alaska REFLECTION - off CocoCay, Bahamas Europe SILHOUETTE - off CocoCay, Bahamas Europe SOLSTICE - off Bali, Indian Ocean Alaska SUMMIT - off Tampa, Florida Caribbean
  2. Since no one is actively cruising on Celebrity right now (save for some folks on Eclipse heading back to the States from South America), how about a thread to remember happy moments from past cruises during this depressing time. Let’s post our favorite photos from our past Celebrity Cruises. A few requests though... 1. Post photos from onboard ship or at any port during the cruise. 2. Post photos one at a time, and no more than three per day, just so we can get a variety of photos from different members and don’t flood the thread with many photos in one post. 3. Include some explanations about what you’re posting; what ship, when you took the cruise, what port, etc. And if you have a nice story to go along with the photo even better. I’ll start... This is a photo I took in January of 2017 in St. Lucia while on a Celebrity Eclipse cruise. My family group had booked an excursion with Spencer Ambrose Tours to visit Sugar Beach. On our way there by boat from the cruise port we made a stop at the town of Soufriere where I captured this shot of a boat in the harbor with the backdrop of Petit Piton, one of the two famous peaks of St. Lucia. Looking forward you seeing everyone’s photos!
  3. HOLLAND AMERICA BOARD'S FUTURE CRUISE LISTING Updated May 22nd, 2020 We all love to hear what cruises you are booked on. I post the Bon Voyage threads 7 days before sailing so, to be included in this, you need to post your details here to allow sufficient time to be on the updated Future Cruise Listing. It’s better to post earlier than later but if it is later please post THREE weeks in advance to make sure it doesn’t get missed. We would also be interested to know if this is your first cruise, your first HAL cruise or if you are celebrating a birthday or anniversary. Details needed are in the 2nd post of this thread. Please use REPLY and not QUOTE when posting to this thread. Using 'Quote' makes a very long thread and difficult for others to read. While this list is a lot of fun, please don't mistake it for a Roll Call thread. You can go to the Roll Call Section here on Cruise Critic and find your cruise to sign up there too. That's where your Meet & Greet planning, tour sharing, and other activities specific to your cruise will be happening. This week’s additions and changes are in BOLD and highlighted in aqua (sea colours). 4. I'm still working with Celebrity on getting myself a "Lift and Shift" deal... But, here is the problem in a nutshell: My travel agent was told--and she relayed it to me--that I could ONLY use it to book a cruise which was: 1) Same number of nights 2) Same "destination" 3) Same ship ...and 4) Within 30 days of my canceled sailing ...and that they were VERY STRICT on the interpretation... In my case, I had "back-to-back" sailings--7 nights each in July...Which were designed to give me two ports new to me (Zadar and Rijeka)...and only one port repeating on the two cruises (Originally, it was no repeats, but they changed one early on). Problem is that 2021 itineraries are NOT an exact match to the 2020 itineraries. So, the ship I was on, the Infinity, now has an 8 night itinerary smack in the middle of what were my 2020 dates. In August, the ship starts doing 9 and 10 night itineraries. None of the 7 night "eligible" itineraries include Zadar and Rijeka and any combination of two back-to-back have three repeated ports (NOT why I would ever schedule back-to-back cruises). Of course, my TA and Celebrity both insist that I can do a "Lift and Shift" to two consecutive 7 night Infinity cruises. They do have 7-night Apex cruises that can be done back-to-back that don't repeat more than one port...and these also, like Infinity, leave from Rome. And, remarkably, the price difference, even at today's high prices, for my same category cabin (Concierge), are LESS than 20% higher for the Apex. It has been suggested that I can take the 125% FCC and book the Apex...but, even with the current great perk offers, I would actually lose money in OBC from my exceptional current deal. Plus, I would really rather not mess with trying to reconstruct everything. But, seriously, one 7 night cruise on the same ship but with a different itinerary in 2021 is NOT really the same cruise as the 2021 one...So, of course, their "gotcha" is that this would mean I'm not eligible for the "Lift and Shift" deal. But, do they really want to punish someone who has paid for two cruises well over a year in advance who would just like to STAY WITH THEM? Also fitting into this equation is that they HAVE allowed passengers on some Millennium sailings switch to the Eclipse since the Millie is not doing those routes next year... The consistency really isn't all there...Neither is the logic. One would think they would WANT to keep your money and book you on another cruise a year down the line--unless, of course, if they really had the expectation of filling those cabins at a MUCH higher price--like GREATER than the 125% of what you paid that they are offering in FCC...
  5. We are still planning on our September 2020 Eclipse cruise. Unless Celebrity cancels it. Final payment is due 13 June and I plan on making it. 🤞
  6. Well with all the concern about travelling in 2020, we chose to lift and shift to 2021. This will be our second trip to Alaska, and out first cruise on Celebrity. We are looking forward to the trip and plan to spend a day or so in Vancouver and we are looking forward to meeting all of our fellow cruisers. I can't wait to get planning on excursions, plans. We would love to get your input on making it the best trip ever. Please join and tell us about you and your cruising experience. Jeff and Mary
  7. Greetings, Celebrity Cruisers ~ If an effort to give our members a place where we can discuss how things are where YOU are related to the Coronavirus, hosts are starting these threads so we can chat during the crisis. Let's talk about creative ways our families and neighbors are coping and helping one another out; share ideas for parents who are at home 24/7 with their school age children; you get the idea..... My only request is that we AVOID turning this into a political or health debate thread. This is a stressful time for everyone. Let's practice some kindness and make Cruise Critic a place members want to visit in this difficult time. I'll start .... We're in Florida and consider ourselves fortunate that while we are dealing with lots of closures and social distancing, at least we have warm weather and sunshine. We're also fortunate to be able to work from home with our small business. The craziness at grocery stores seems to have calmed down except for a few items (toilet paper which I still don't understand and frozen veggies). There is plenty of food in our grocery stores and at least here, they have a great crew wiping down carts, shelves, conveyor belts, credit card machines, etc. As of yesterday, all restaurants were closed except for those who are able to provide carry out and/or delivery. We love to cook and while we enjoy going to local restaurants, we're fine cooking at home for awhile. I do, worry, though about the all those who work in our restaurants and small businesses and hope they can all make it through this challenging time. It will be more important than ever to support them once they re-open. In addition to working from home during what would be typical work hours, I'm also going to take this "quiet time" to finish going through the thousands of photos I took on our Eclipse cruise in South America in January (feeling VERY grateful that we got to take that terrific trip). We don't have any upcoming cruises until 2021 but we did have a business cruise postponed last week that was disappointing. But I believe we did the right thing in deciding not to go. It wasn't worth the risk. I do want to support the cruise industry so we may try to sneak another cruise in this year once things settle down. How about you? Here's one of my favorite cruise photos from Eclipse in South America. I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe ..... let's chat! REMEMBER....BE KIND!
  8. Sorry for duplicating If someone already posted this. Actually I was VERY surprised to receive an offer for a complimentary veranda stateroom since I didn’t play a lot in the casino. Have to book by APRIL 25, 2020. However, it doesn’t mention the block out dates and the limitation. These are the sailings mentioned in the email though. 10. So much in your post to which I agree. Based on a past Cirque type show I saw on Celebrity Eclipse, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Viaggio. Head Concierge could not have been more accommodating. Because I was in a party of 5 for dinner at the YC Restaurant, we did have a short wait for a table to be created, cleared, and set for my party. YC on MSC is a great and memorable cruise experience!
  11. Just home from the March 1- 30 sailing of the Eclipse. We were told NO ONE was sick with the virus. Now we found out a passenger has tested positive with the virus. The passenger was diagnosed by the ship's doctor with bronchitis about a week ago. They were sent back to their cabin. Then the passenger was diagnosed with pneumonia several days ago. Upon arriving home the passenger has tested positive with the virus. Way to go Celebrity for exposing 4,000 passengers & crew to the virus. Way to go Celebrity for sending thousands home exposing who knows how many to this. You are always saying the health & safety of our passengers is #1 to us. Looks like your bottom line is #1. Anyone who had symptoms of any breathing disorder should have been confined to their cabins. This passenger should have been tested before anyone was permitted to debark the ship.
  12. Thought I would start a new Topic for Refunding Status for Scenic Eclipse passengers that had their cruise cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic. In my case, I requested a cash refund the day Scenic notified my TA that the cruise had been cancelled. No response from Scenic except to parrot the party line that each cancellation would receive a future cruise voucher for 110% of the cruise value. Despite multiple requests of Scenic(emails), there have been no responses or refund status since the cancellation on 6 April. This could escalate very quickly to a lawsuit for Breach of Contract for violation of their own set of T&Cs. Anybody else have a similar story to share?
  13. Hi there, Looking at changing our cruise to next year which gives us several room options. My TA has indicated that the balconies are the same size in square feet, however I see the 1233 appears much bigger. Just wondering your thoughts if you have any insight. TIA
  14. We were on Eclipse for 2 weeks in 2018, Silhouette 2 weeks in 2019 and also on Reflection & Equinox since the inception of Luminae and one of the people with us ordered from the MDR menu nearly every day. He also asked for items not on any menu and the chef prepared them for him, sometimes immediately, sometimes the next day. We sat next to a couple on the Eclipse and the gentleman had a steak that was on the Murano menu nearly every night. We have found the staff at Luminae to be amazingly accommodating, sorry your experience was not the same. Luminae is one of the main reasons we love Celebrity these days, and while we don't have 150 cruises with X we do have over 30 so we are not "newbies" by any stretch. The specialty restaurants are very "hit & miss" as far as service is concerned and the food for the most part just okay. The last two trips have been in Royal Suites and while we had "free" specialty restaurants the only time we used them was with a group at Le Petit Chef, which was good and great fun, but definitely a one time experience. To each his own.
  15. Any help from people in the UK that were on this btb cruise of South America that ended in San Diego, would be appreciated. As you know on the 14th March we were told that we were going to debark in San Antonio, Chile as the cruise was not going to continue to San Diego, USA. We all had to pack our suitcases as we had to leave the ship the next morning. There was a mad scramble to book flights home, which we had to do independently as it was very difficult to get through to any airline. We did not have Choice Air so Celebrity would not help us. We managed to book but as it was less than 3 days before the flight we could not cancel when we were prevented from leaving the ship. Some people on the 15th April cruise that could not board the ship have been fully reimbursed their airfare. I know their circumstances are different but has anyone from the UK received any money from Celebrity for these flights to nowhere?

  17. (4:30 p.m. EDT) – Scenic has begun construction on the line's second "discovery ship", Scenic Eclipse II, with the cutting of the first steel for the vessel at the Maj 3 Shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia. Like its sister Scenic Eclipse, which debuted in 2019, Scenic Eclipse II will be a hybrid luxury yacht and expedition vessel, capable of ... View the full article
  18. We haven’t sailed on NCL so I can’t compare to that. You will be contacted by a Shoreside Concierge 1-2 weeks before your sailing to make any arrangements. They will ask for any specialty restaurant reservations you want, any special requests/needs, your preferred bottles of spirits; no set list to choose from. If you look at the Drink Package info on the website it lists the brands of alcohol included in the Premium Beverage Package will give you an idea of what is available. The unlimited speciality dining means no limit on the number of evenings (or lunches when open). I doubt that you could eat 5 entrees, but if you want to try a couple of entrees you can ask for smaller portions. On the Millennium there are 2 specialty restaurants; Tuscan Grill which is a Italian Steakhouse and Le Petit Chef which is a set menu with 2 seatings a night. There is also Sushi on 5 which is all carte, since I don’t eat sushi I don’t know how the unlimited specialty dining works in Sushi on 5. We find Luminae, the dining room for Suite guests , better than the specialty restaurants so on a 15 night cruise we may go to each specialty once just for some variety. I hope your cruise sails, we are on the Eclipse TP which sails 2 weeks after Your cruise.

  22. Croatiaweek reports as of April 24, 2020 the 3. Maj dockyard in Zagreb has started work on Eclipse II, for Scenic. This ship is the first new ship to be built at the dockyard after four years. According to the article the laying of the keel, which I believe was previously to have been in late March of this year will instead be at the beginning of this summer with the Scenic Group planning to buyild an additional four MORE polar cruise ships in the 3. Maj dockyard with a contract value of 860 million Euros. www.croatiaweek.com is the source of this information but it is especially good news for those cruisers booking cruises in 2022...wonder where the maiden voyage will begin and how, with two ships at sea, Scenic will deploy them--maybe some circumnavigations of Australia, New Zealand and Japan?? Inquiring minds are spinning! Three cheers for some good news in these challenging times.
  23. My credit card was credited today for April 20th Eclipse trip. Deposit only as we took the FCC.
  24. I like beef, but rarely order it when at sea or in any restaurant. Like I said in my previous post the gentleman who often sat next to us when we were last on Eclipse had a steak every night that normally is sold in Murano, but the staff knew this in advance so not a problem for them to provide. It was not a filet, but a T-Bone I believe(not sure, just know it was not a filet) but he had it every time we sat next to him. I enjoy the service and friendly staff at Luminae as much as the food, have never gone away hungry, it's just a very pleasant experience for us.
