  1. I spend too much time living vicariously on here; I love reading reviews, especially those with lots of food pictures, and have learned so much here that made my first few cruises so much easier and more enjoyable, thank you. I like reviews with lots of preamble as it gives me a perspective on the poster, so please excuse mine … Preamble I’m a 40-something Scot living in Ireland, I travel with my 50-something Irish friend. I’d always wanted to cruise but when I’d looked into cruising in the past the whole notion of set-dining and shared tables was more of a puni
  2. Any recent Epic cruisers...do you know if any of the following slot machines are in the casino... Oceans Magic Lobstermania Sea Goddess Money to burn Garden fairies Fishing contest Thank you for any information
  3. My friend and I will be on the Epic for a 12 day cruise in an inside since my upgrade bid was not accepted. I am starting to panic over space for our stuff. I know the bathroom door is rounded and I was wondering if I could hang one of these 24 pocket over-the-door things on the bathroom door to have some place to put stuff. Has anyone ever done this? Also can I request a chair to sit on as sitting on the bed is going to make my back hurt! Any helpful tips appreciated!
  4. Back home after a nice cruise. Weather was fantastic and overall we had a great cruise. This was our 5th cruise after 2 with MSC and 2 with Celebrity, so we were excited to see if NCL can compare to Celebrity. In short: no. Food and wine in MDR and overall standard is much better on Celebrity, but the big win for NCL is the entertainment. Ship: it is a big ship but we liked most of it. The odd bathroom set up in the cabin was not a problem for us, however the cabin (balcony 9043) is very compact. We loved the H2O adult only area. Smoking: As a smoker you're in for
  5. We are thinking of spending a few hundred dollars more to book the Norwegian Epic out of San Juan. We would need 2 rooms for our family of 5 with 3 teens (16, 17 & 18). If we choose sail away, are we likely to get rooms on the same floor? We are just looking into options as we saw one company offering cash back so might be very similar price to pick our own rooms. (We've only been on one cruise so we don't know a lot about finding deals. We are happy to cruise with things that are included)
  6. The description of these cabins includes “premium amenities”. Can someone give me a better idea of what that means? Also, what kind of shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, etc. is provided. Thank you!
  7. First time cruisers going on the Epic to Caribbean and very excited! We are travelling with 2 kids, aged 10 and I have a couple questions about activities. - For the water activities, do we need to "sign up" or get wrist bands or anything for them? - If they do the Splash Academy, will they have a something like Disney does with the bands for tracking and/or sign-in/out - Specialty Dining - can they get something from the kids menu, then order something ala carte? Like a dessert? - Is there mini-golf on board? I see pictures but it is not listed on the site? Did I just miss

  9. Is it true that there is a charge for ice water (not bottled water) in the buffet and restaurants on the epic?
  10. We’re looking at booking a 2 bed family villa with balcony on a Western Med cruise in 2021. Does anyone have any experience of Deck 17 and what the good/bad rooms might be? Just wondering do we need to avoid certain rooms that might be close to lifts or crew doors etc... I see there’s also a fitness area on deck, does this add much noise to the area or is it well protected? Any info is really appreciated, the room we’re currently looking at is 17024. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hello - I am new to cruising and I recently booked a last minute NYE cruise to the Southern Caribbean with my husband and two sons, ages 12 and 14. We have side by side Penthouse rooms in the Haven section. I am a little worried though after reading about the amenities that my children won't be able to be in the Haven pool and hot tub area. Did I read that right or is there another section of the Haven that is for adults only but another one that allows kids? I specifically thought this would be a good area for us to get chairs at a pool since I've been reading how crowded these holiday cr
  12. Has anyone had solo cabin 12514 or 12515. They appear to be the only 2 cabins between the stairways and the lounge. Seems very convenient to the lounge but wondering if it’s very hectic with people coming in and out of the solo lounge
  13. I’ve a cruise booked on Epic out of Barcelona in May next year. I’ve a couple of friends who will be disembarking the day I will embark. We’re intending to meetup for a while before I get onto the ship. however, I would like to know how early I can drop off baggage safely, or should I leave it stored at my hotel until I’m ready to actually check-in at the port. I’m assuming the setup at Barcelona port will be similar to Miami, where bags are dropped kerbside and you don’t bring them into the pier terminal with you for checkin.
  14. Reservations for our 7-day Epic cruise out of San Juan open this week and I have a couple of questions regarding the shows. My husband will be doing dialysis while on the ship and I want to make sure our timing ends up being okay. Are Burn the Floor and Priscilla only available two nights on 7-night cruises? What are the normal show times? We don't plan on seeing the Cirque dinner show -- my husband and I have seen it twice and the friend who travels with us has seen it once, so we only need to worry about the other two. Thanks!
  15. Hi All! Through my own mistake, I scheduled our flight out for the same day we disembark, instead of the day after as I'd intended. I contacted NCL and the lady seemed to think we could make our 10am flight to ZRH, but I am nervous. Does anyone have insight as to the earliest time they could get off the ship in BCN? Tips for getting to the airport super fast? TIA!
  16. Hello! We're getting excited for our cruise on Epic in April. We're still fairly new to NCL, and I have a question about booking excursions. We typically prefer non-ship tours, but I'd like to use our $50 shore excursion credit in at least a couple of the the ports. I was thinking zip lining at Harvest Caye and possibly Maya Key on Roatan. When I log in and go to "Explore and Plan," I'm only seeing 1 excursion for HC and 1 for Roatan vs. 14 for Costa Maya and 36 for Cozumel. I'm assuming more will be added for HC and Roatan. Any rhyme or reason as to when? Can the zip lining on HC be booked in
  17. This was our first NCL cruise as well as our first trip to Europe. My husband and I are both 50, and the trip was a 25th anniversary celebration. I will make a few general comments first and then give a day-by-day rundown. I will only include photos from the cruise itself. I have a zillion amazing photos from all of our excursions (plus we spent 5 days in Italy post-cruise), but I will focus on the NCL photos for this trip report. We had a balcony cabin (#9165) and while the layout of the room was unusual (as I had read repeatedly on these boards), we had no issues. Hubby is tall (
  18. Are there any kind of LGBTQIA/queer-friendly meetups on the Epic? This will be my first cruise (Western Mediterranean leaving Civitavecchia on 10/30) and I haven’t seen anything about this specifically, although I read that these might be called Friends of Dorothy on cruises. I’d love to meet other cruisers from the LGBTQIA community on the ship 😊
  19. I booked a GTY Balcony on the Epic, and was assigned a B2 category, which is a Family balcony that can accommodate 4, the cabin is 14047. Is this room going to look / feel more crowded with unused beds hanging from the walls? I searched for reviews of this cabin but noting specific - wonder if the balcony is obstructed, or what size, also guessing the bed is closer to the bathroom than the balcony? Anything you share as to what this cabin might look & layout is appreciated.
  20. Looking at deck plans this midship balcony ( and the few around it ) sets back. Will this be obstructed view? Covered or uncovered ?
  21. Hey Everyone, just getting ready to book on the Epic for January and I'm torn. I was about to book a BX balcony but after looking at a few reviews I am feeling like they stick you with the balcony with an enclosed area with only a small hole to see through. I don't mind at all a lifeboat below. So, I looked at the mni suite, which doesn't seem to be any larger, other than the shower. I'm finding mixed reviews about them. My question is: what are the chances of getting a good balcony with the sail away or do I have a better chance at a good balcony with a sail away mini suite? Any
  22. Looking at possibly moving to a Penthouse suite on the Epic for a Transatlantic. My husband says he’s fine with a forward suite. I’m concerned about the balcony being unusable as we move forward. I’d lean to the aft PH, he’s concerned about vibration at the aft. Please help if you have any experience!
  23. Is there a past guest party on the Epic for the European cruises out of Barcelona? If so, what day and time is the party?
  24. Hi, I am looking for the hours for the thermal spa on Epic. I would love to take advantage of the spa very early in the mornings (maybe 6:30-7 am). I thought I saw the spa does not open until 8am. Appreciate any insight!
  25. For crying out loud Norwegian you really know how to rub salt into an open wound. First you change the debarkation port from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami and now you cancel a stop in Bonaire. All of this after final payment. 4100 passengers bend over, Norwegian does not give a crap.
