  1. So I’m looking at booking a B2B well kinda. I’m already booked on RC Freedom in Jan 2021 out of Puerto Rico. Jan 31st - Feb 7th And was thinking about booking the Epic for when we get back on the Freedom. Feb 7 - Feb 14th. It visits 2 of the same cities as the Freedom, but I’m ok with that. So your thought on the Epic. And suggestions for a good Mini Suite cabin would be appreciated.
  2. Sorry this one has been a little late coming - with Christmas and the NY following it I didnt get round to putting it together till later than usual and find I must now catch up as we have another cruise in a couple of weeks. I'll post as quickly here as I can but you can keep in front and see all the photos on the usual blog entry. NCL Epic - Transatlantic 2019 - Part 1 Barcelona - Palma Mallorca - Gibraltar Day 1 Barcelona The Norwegian Epic - often referred to as the marmite of cruise ships she is certainly one of a
  3. So I’m getting ready to book on the Epic for next year. And I’d like to try and get the best balcony I can in the BA section or? Im open to suggestions for a good balcony location like a corner location, Aft, forward . any and all suggestions are appreciated.
  4. Just booked Epic Haven Courtyard penthouse 17009. I know some of these rooms have solarium type balcony with a little window but it looks like this one might have an open one. Anyone know? First time in Haven!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
  5. I spend too much time living vicariously on here; I love reading reviews, especially those with lots of food pictures, and have learned so much here that made my first few cruises so much easier and more enjoyable, thank you. I like reviews with lots of preamble as it gives me a perspective on the poster, so please excuse mine … Preamble I’m a 40-something Scot living in Ireland, I travel with my 50-something Irish friend. I’d always wanted to cruise but when I’d looked into cruising in the past the whole notion of set-dining and shared tables was more of a puni
  6. Anyone have an update from the Epic? Supposed to be in Puerto Rico this morning?
  7. Wow! What a cheap cruise on the Epic! I'm shocked that they are not charging a single supplement fee either for a non studio cabin! Is there issues with the Epic? Wish I had vacation time! Lol!
  8. We will be on the Jan 31-Feb 7, 2021 sailing out of San Juan. We will be in a Haven DOS suite on deck 17. I’ve been reading threads and reviews of the Epic for months now. It seems to me that some of the most common complaints regarding the Epic will be less of an issue being in the DOS in the Haven. Especially the complaints about the bathroom layout, food quality(since we have the Haven restaurant), lack of views of ocean(have large balcony and access to Posh), lines(have concierge), etc.... So, I’m not too concerned about the negativity plus any cruise in the Caribbean in Jan/Fe
  9. We got to San Juan a couple days early and stayed at Casa Blanco in Old San Juan very nice we explored a little. We left from San Juan march 8th supposed to be a 7 night Cruise Sunday we pull into San Juan they didnt want us.Long story short we headed to port Cape Canaveral 2 days Later Everyone was healthy and we got off. The ship was great.Free Alcohol and Food. a couple extra days. All and all great cruise. I will update a little more Shortly.
  10. Hi all, wanted to comment briefly on our recent Epic cruise from San Juan. Just for background, I have sailed on 4 NCL cruises (last one on the Epic in 2014), 3 Celebrity, 3 HAL, 1 Princess, 1 RC and 1 Carnival. Before boarding I had read a bunch of poor reviews and was actually a little anxious that the cruise would not live up to expectations. I consider my wife and I to be very easygoing and overall we had another very enjoyable cruise in general, and we enjoyed the Epic in particular. First thing to comment on is the arrival and departure that might help others go
  11. My brother, sister, and their spouses frequently cruise together, but the timing never worked out for me to join them until last year when my brother said he and his wife had booked a cruise of the Southern Caribbean embarking January 26, 2020. January--a great time to leave a St. Louis winter. Then my sister and her husband signed up for it too, so I decided to find out just how good a time they've been having. The itinerary: Since they were booked on the Epic, that meant I could choose a studio cabin. The rooms looked inviting enough in photos and having the studio loung
  12. I'm beginning to have second thoughts about my decision to cruise on the Epic again. Recent reviews of the Epic in the Caribbean have been very negative. I know, I know, take reviews with a grain of salt but one of those reviews reminded me of the things I disliked about the Epic. By the way, the cabin layout doesn't bother us at all. If the food is good and the crew very friendly I can put up with the other negatives of the Epic. I booked this cruise because of the ports it will make in the S. Caribbean. I won't be cruising on the Epic until the end of January so any issues with embarkati
  13. My wife and I are going on the Epic and April. We are wondering what the dress code is for the 2 specialty restaurants we are going to. We are going to Cagney's Steakhouse and La Cucina Italian Restaurant. Thanks for any info!
  14. Just off the Epic this morning. A beautiful ship! After reading several reviews, not finding all the negative points that others complained about. Lots of seating around the ship, never had trouble finding a seat. Embarkation: Our check in time was 2pm. We arrived at Pier at 12:15, and were on the ship at 12:35pm! No lines, no waiting. Rooms were not ready until 2pm. We ate at The Great Outdoors and enjoyed the music from the band on the pool deck. Food: We ate at Taste every evening. We found a waiter the first night who took to our 10 year old son, and equated him each n
  15. Hey everyone! I have loved the live reviews so much and I know others really get a kick out of them. It’s a little early, we don’t cruise until Sunday but we (husband and I) leave on Friday for San Juan. Epic 11 Day from San Juan! Background- This will be our 4th Cruise, all with NCL. This is our second time on the Epic and second time to the Caribbean but not this southern itinerary. All the ports are new to us! I’m 31 and my husband is 32. We are child free and both work extremely demanding jobs. We live outside of Seattle.(It has rained almost everyday this month
  16. Hi, I don't normally do this. However, I believe it is necessary to provide my thoughts on my Epic transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to San Juan. I had a Haven 2 bedroom unit on deck 16. In no real particular order, here are my random thoughts. It is by no means a complete list. Just my thoughts. 1-The cruise did not start well. There was a noro virus problem on the prior cruise so everyone was late in boarding. Close to 2 hours on line. I would not have mind, but I asked if Haven meant skipping the lines. I asked three different people and was told to wait with the masses.
  17. We cruised on the NCL Epic in 2017 in the Caribbean and loved the White Party! We are booked on her again in October, boarding in Rome, Italy. Does anyone know if they will do the White Party on the 2020 Mediterranean route?
  18. I am helping my parents plan a cruise on the Epic in September out of Barcelona. Myself and my mom have cruised with NCL before and have both enjoyed the Vibe. I know that the Epic has Posh, which is primarily for Haven guests, but a few passes are sold to the masses upon embarkation. I am looking for up-to-date info on Posh. Do they still sell a small amount of passes? Anyone know what the average number of passes available is when sailing in the Mediterranean? What is the price/person/week? Where are they purchased on board? With a sail away of 6pm, at what time does check in begin and how e
  19. Are there computers available for use on the Epic. I sail this weekend and may need to work a bit while on board and was hoping to not have to bring my laptop.
  20. Posting for my husband, who was most perturbed on our last cruise on the Sky, when there wasn't one. He had to play 3 card poker instead and complained that he lost all of his money way too quickly!! 🤣
  21. Just returned from 11 day cruise out of San Juan and will share a few of my thoughts. We arrived around 3 pm and we’re able to walk right in and on to the ship. This was good as there is no place to sit in the terminal. Also good as our room was immediately ready. We had a standard balcony. Having been on Epic before, I was aware of bathroom situation which did not bother me. Room had adequate storage and a balcony which was larger than Breakaway class. Wish they would get rid of ,or downsize, that monstrosity of a sofa which takes up way too much room.
  22. We have a total of 64 people in our group next Saturday for the EPIC cruise out of San Juan. Many are first time cruisers. How strict are they at the dock when it comes to scheduled boarding times? We have smaller groups of 6-10 that want to head over together and board together, but some have 12:30 pm boarding and 2 of them have 3:30 boarding. Will the two be sent away until 3:30, or are they pretty flexible with the scheduled boarding? I've seen it both ways, but didn't know how it would be in San Juan at the Pan Am pier. Any thoughts?
  23. Can anyone buy a Posh Pass on the Epic, and if so, how much are they? I've never gotten one before...is it worth it?
  24. Hello All, I've done a few cruises over the years - mainly around 10-15 years ago on smaller ships (Explorer of the Seas was the biggest I had done back then). A couple of years ago I then done the Norwegian Epic - loved it although it wasn't without its faults but on the whole loved the cruise - the entertainment, the amount of restaurants, the number of things to do on board etc. I'm now looking at MSC Seaside and noticing it has a higher capacity (~5100 v ~4200) however, a lot less restaurants (Epic = 20 (7 complimentary), Seaside = 7 (4 complimentary) and possibly eve
  25. If you are booked in a suite in the Haven on the Epic does that include a pass to the spa/thermal suites area or do you have to pay extra as you are not booked into a "spa suite?" What advantages are there to the Haven Suite area on the Epic? Thanks
