  1. Sailing later this month and would like to try a cabana or just a sun bed in Retreat area. I understand that calling and booking ahead is only is you book the whole week. So if we just want 2-3 days should we rush up to the area after boarding? We have a Neptune suite and wondered if we could book through the Concierge in the Neptune lounge. Thanks
  2. We are on the eurodam for a16 day Hawaiian cruise Just wondering how much the laundry services is and it per person or per room. and any other info related to the subject. Thank you .
  3. Report # 1 GettingReady to Fly to Seattle September 21,2018 Friday Warm and sunny 92 degrees Well, here we go again, for a much anticipated 7 day Alaskanjourney, followed by an 18 day trip to Hawaii and back to Vancouver. Gosh, it seems like we just got back into ournormal routine from the world cruise. With so many projects planned and unplanned, we have been most busy allsummer. Although one fire was fairlyclose to us, we did live with the horrible smoke for weeks from the rest of thefires in California. Knock on wood, allseems back to our usual pleasant almost-fall weather. So we plan to fly to Seattle very early tomorrow morning, join the Eurodam, and be off for seven days in Alaska. Ports will include Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan,Victoria, and scenic cruising in Glacier Bay. This, the glacier portion of the cruise. Then we continue back to Vancouver, Victoria, with 5 days atsea heading towards Hawaii, and the volcano portion of the trip. Even though we will not be sailing near Konaand the lava fields, we think we will be close enough to claim the volcanopart. The ports in Hawaii will includeHilo, Lahaina, Honolulu, and Lihue, Kauai. Then we will sail 5 days back to Vancouver where we fly home on October17th. This will be our second cruise on the Eurodam, whichoccurred last year around this same time. We lucked out to have great weather last year, so we keep our fingerscrossed for the same. We will miss the start of the fall colors here, but restassured, the leaves will be waiting for us to clean up! To be continued….. Bill & Mary Ann
  4. Hi Everyone! Does anyone have a copy or photo of the daily newsletter (any day), they’re willing to share from a past 2018 Eurodam cruise? TIA
  5. The biggest take away from our Mexican Riviera Eurodam cruise (we just got home last night) is that we are not southern climate cruisers at all. While we like sitting around a pool in the sun, reading our books, and having a drink, we found the concept on a cruise ship just too darned crowded and noisy. Comparing this cruise to our past sun holidays to the Mayan Riviera stays at the Royal Hideaway, this turned out to be a bust for us. We like things quiet and no crowds and this was not at all what we found on the Eurodam. Overall the staff on board were lovely and very helpful (one big exception will be mentioned later concerning the Spa). Our room stewards were beyond excellent. Our booking at the Retreat Cabana for the week was hit and miss for service. We found service there slow generally to the point that we would go get our own food and drink. When one fellow was on shift, service was as described on CC. However the one big plus was it got us away from the crowds and noise so I shouldn't complain about lack of service. It was our haven from the hub bub on the ship. We found the noise level in the main dining room uncomfortably loud for fine dining. My husband has hearing issues and the noise made it uncomfortable sitting through a meal. Food was pretty good, but not excellent. Service was excellent and timely. Lido was fine for breakfast. We had one meal in the Pinnacle. Service was excellent, but food not as good as the main dining room. My Salmon was a huge serving of bland salmon that I assume must have been farmed salmon versus wild salmon. We are from the Pacific Northwest and know our salmon. My husband had a mediocre steak. We observed a fellow at the next table who had ordered a 23 oz. mega sized steak leaving most of it due to grizzle. On our past Alaska cruise, we booked the Thermal Suite package and used it at least twice daily. We bought it for this cruise and used it twice only due to malfunctioning ceramic beds (the best part of the package for us). We reported it twice to Spa staff on our first day who told us that two of the beds had no heat on purpose and the beds were not malfunctioning. Two of the beds were so hot that one had to put heavy layers of towels down to keep from being burned. So that left two working beds. So lineups for the beds weren't tolerable and we abandoned using our pass after two attempts. The General Service Desk called when we went down to complain and said the clerk said she would call the the Spa Manager and told me to tell her my concerns as they were a franchise and they could do nothing. After having a loud public conversation with people staring at me whilst they waited in line (phone was line breaking up and I couldn't hear her and wound up speaking so loudly that it was embarrassing to deal with in public), she said her manager would call me. She did and bottom line said no refund. Terrible in my opinion that HAL wouldn't advocate for us over the issue. So buyer beware concerning spa services. Disembarkation was fast and organized. A little tedious getting on. Our hotel the Wyndham Bayside was very convenient to the ship (right across the street). Very noisy room as we asked for the view and I tried to sleep with the patio door open as I am not a fan of air conditioning for the whole night. Room was nice and comfortable and staff were pleasant. However, they have two people in the lobby that sell travel packages that accost people each and every time they walk by morning til night. It was to the point before we walked by I would say to my husband "look the other way and and avoid all eye contact". It was horrible and I'm not sure why the hotel allows it, but it seems to be connected to their rewards system. We spent one more night at the Wyndham Bayside before flying home and fasted the same sales pitch each time we walked by the lobby. We were going to tour Old Town and when we arrived at Old Town we found my husband's wallet was missing. We had sat outside the hotel at a patio table while waiting for Uber. So we promptly called Uber and headed back to the Wyndham and by the Grace of God, my husband's wallet was sitting at the back of the chair he had sat in. Using Uber in San Diego was our first Uber experience and we were quite impressed with its speedy arrival and reasonable price. Getting hubby's wallet back was a highlight of the cruise lol. We flew home on Alaska Air first class and decided as we sipped our drinks that we perhaps just aren't cruise people. Even though we loved our Alaska Cruise on HAL last year. This cruise had a very crowded feel from the get go, and just wasn't suited to us. I am not a whiner and really don't have unrealistic expectations, but we paid a lot of money for this cruise and it was probably a 5 on the scale of 1 to 10. We are both 70 years of age so maybe all of my comments are based on getting old? My advice to people is to think about whether you are a cruiser personality or not. We are very quiet people and this just wasn't to our liking. It seemed to me the biggest activity on board was people eating non stop, and we found we ate too much out of boredom. I would rather stay at a nice resort and take day trips. We did love San Diego. Loved our tour of USS Midway and I shed more than one tear talking with the veterans on board. It was a beautiful city and next time I think we would just fly down and stay at the del Coronado Hotel and relax.
  6. We will be sailing on Eurodam Dec 9th for a 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise & wondering if there is a free mens sauna on the ship ? TIA
  7. We are sailing Dec 9 ,2018 on Eurodam to Mexico .Wondering how the main shows are on the ship . Do they have 2 or 3 nights of the singers & dancers interspersed with comedians & others acts . What did you see & how did you like the entertainment ? TIA
  8. We have a guaranteed Signature Suite Category SY -- I think because we booked it only three months out. We had gone on Eurodam to Mexican Riviera in October but ended up going up to San Francisco down the California Coast due to hurricane activity threatening the Mexican Riviera. So, with the credit we got from them on a future cruise, we decided to try late January hoping to leave nasty weather up here in the foothills of Northern California for the sunny skies of Mexico! We booked the Signature Suite SY but the stateroom has yet to be assigned. Has anyone had experience with this situation before? Contract says they have to give us SY or better. Hoping, ha, to get an upgrade to Neptune or Pinnacle!!!
  9. Has anyone stayed in this room? Thanks!
  10. This may have already been mentioned but---- looking at the deck plans, it appears that 8118 is NOT under the uncarpeted area of the Lido deck....however it IS under an uncarpeted area of the dining area of the Lido Marketplace....every night between around 9:30 & 10:30, there is a lot of chair scraping!!! BEWARE! --- I don't know if the same is true for the cabin on the starboard side of the ship
  11. Several years ago on the Noordam, I was able to check out an MP3 player with a narrated art/history tour of the ship. It was very interesting and I’d like to do that on the Eurodam. I expect it works differently now so - has anyone done this lately? How and where can we get it? Thanks!
  12. What is the difference other than deck location and price?
  13. I've seen a few comments and read some reviews discussing excessive vibration in some of the aft cabins on Eurodam. Has anyone experienced this? Specifically, we're in cabin 6167 on an upcoming Eurodam sailing. Anyone had this specifc cabin before, or any of the deck 6 aft inside cabins near 6167? Interested in hearing your experiences in any of these cabins. Thanks!
  14. Has anyone sailed before and after the Eurodam's dry dock? Wondering what changes were made? Thanks!
  15. Hi everyone I'll be heading out on the Eurodam in less than 20 days on a short coastal cruise. 17. Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam are making their final visit to Juneau for the season. Eurodam will be doing the Mexican Riviera and Hawaii cruises over the winter while Nieuw Amsterdam will be in the Caribbean (lots of good viewing for the addicts on the FLL webcams:D). The schedule shows that both will be back in Juneau on May 6, 2019. As usual, Eurodam will be at the AS dock and Nieuw Amsterdam at the CT dock from 1300-2200. 18. There was a video on youtube featuring Caribbean cruises on Eurodam and the Nieuw Amsterdam. Started with a Fort Lauderdale Sail Away. It was about 30 minutes long. I've tried searching youtube and simply can't find it. Would appreciate it if someone could point me towards this video.
  19. I have booked a cruise on the Eurodam and looking at Cabin VA4134. Any comments you may have as to space, layout, location and noise would be greatly appreciated. A photo would be a bonus. Thanks a bunch!
  20. About to get off the Eurodam. The Captain announced that since Hurricane Willa is forecast to hit Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta this week, they’re changing the itinerary to SF, San Pedro, Catalina, and Ensenada for the Mexico 7-day leaving October 21. The ship also suddenly tilted severely this morning at 05:30, with crashing heard from destroyed plates and glasses in the dining rooms. To add insult to injury, they’re getting a surprise CDC inspection.
  21. I have read about Cabanas on the Eurodam. We are cruising out of Seattle on 5/25/19 through 6/1/19. We have booked an Oceanview cabin. Wondering if a cabana makes sense. Are they located where you could sit more comfortably and view the scenery? Also, there are 4 of us, do we need a family retreat cabana?
  22. We will be sailing the Eurodam out of San Diego and requested wheelchair assistance with boarding. We have not needed this before so it would be helpful to have some information on how it works. My husband can not walk long distances or stand for long periods of time. Can anyone tell me where we get the wheelchair...Does someone meet us outside and take us thru security to the checkin desk? Then will they help to board us? Do they take you to your cabin? Also any information about when we disembark would also be helpful. We plan on staying onboard during the cruise.
  23. My DH and I are seasoned cruisers having just completed our 42nd cruise. We have a Mexico cruise booked on the Eurodam and are interested in an aft cabin, specifically 6181. We have been in aft cabins on previous cruises, although not on HAL, and loved them all except for our last experience which was on the Crown Princess. The engine vibration made sleep difficult. We have never had that happen. I would love to hear from any of you that have been in an aft cabin on Eurodam or NA. Was noise/vibration an issue? Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.....
  24. Hello! Starting up a forum for this sailing. I'm 65, female, married, traveling solo on my first cruise. Lynne
  25. The Ruby Princess almost always leaves after the Eurodam but before the Bliss. And a vessel tracker app has a departure time for Eurodam as 518, a strange time, could they just be waiting for a late arriving pax?
