  1. That sums up cruising for at least another 12 months. We have cruises booked for Jan/Feb 2022. I figure there's a 50% chance they sail as scheduled, and 50% chance we'll decide to go if they do (ship & port restrictions, etc). So my guess is we're at a 25% chance of going on them...... OP - take a refund if you can get it. 3 of the cruises I mentioned above were Freedom moved to Explorer, we're in a standard balcony and don't mind Explorer so we're hanging in there for now.
  2. As long as my future RCI cruises sail I have no problem with them changing ships. I was ok with my Freedom being changed to Explorer...I sail for the itinerary not specifically the ship.
  3. Jalesh voyager Jalesh Explorer Jalesh Marina Jalesh Navigator Jalesh adventure Jalesh/ Royal Caribbean
  4. What category of cabin are the Explorer aft balcony cabins 9390, 9392, 9690, & 9692 (post dry dock)? These are the ones immediately next to the grand suites. The RCI site does not show a category for them. Thanks.
  5. Just got our email. Nov 26, 2021 Explorer cancelled. Replaced same date with Radiance. $50USD/$100USD "our bad" offer Sailing to............ "similar destinations"....... WTH? How do I make a decision based on that description? I think clearly they're hoping for cancellations.
  6. Thanks for the info. We've got a 10 night Celebrity Canada/Pacific coastal cruise booked for September 2021. 🤞 We did RC on the Jewel, September 2015 and the Explorer September 2016. Maybe RC will be back September 2022.
  7. We have a 9 night on the Explorer booked for April 4th, that we know must be cancelled or changed due to the CDC ban of cruises longer then 7 nights. Final payment is coming fast, any chance they cancel it before, so we can avoid another FFC of the deposit amount, if not, this will be our 3rd?
  8. We have sailed on the Adventure, Explorer, Oasis, and Allure and loved them all. We'll be celebrating our 50th. Anniversary. We like a lot of sea days, Eastern and Southern routes Ft. Lauderdale, and balconies. At 70 years old with some spine issues activities are limited the Allure is the right fit. I am obsessed with knowing details about nearly everything. That was the purpose of the question. Now I can turn it over to my TA to do the rest. Thanks for all replies. Xray
  9. When our May 2020 cruise was cancelled by RCI we got an email letter from RCI with an apology and all the specific details involved about our options. When our Freedom ship was changed to Explorer we got a similar email.
  10. Allure & explorer left the Uk last week and are now in the Caribbean do Royal know something
  11. We were booked on freedom of the sea with the four bedroom villa. Then they refurbished the ship and took out the cabin. So they moved us to 4 jr suites only after much complaining. They wanted to put all eight of us in one two bedroom suite. now they moved the freedom of the sea and replaced it with Explorer of The sea the ship is 10 years older and they will not give us the option to switch to another ship unless we pay the new prevailing rates with are twice as much. I have reached out to corporate and been unable to get any real help. Any ideas? also
  12. My March 2022 B2B on Freedom was changed to Explorer...still in an OS, similar location and a bit of a lower price point. I'm fine with what ever happens.
  13. I have a 12 night on the Explorer at the end of April, and I have my doubts that it will sail. I bet Royal will not have canceled the cruise when final payment is due.
  14. I am glad that Allure and Explorer are now on the list and are green. We have Explorer booked out of Galveston in May, and Allure out of Port Canaveral in June, and hopefully, both will sail.
  15. If the balcony issue is that important to you then Explorer really is not the ship for you. That is a lot of money to spend for a sub par experience. I wish I had good ideas for you but I don't.
  16. I would like a newer ship but they won’t move us unless we want to pay the current rates. I even said we would leave from any port and at a different time, but they said no can do. we will probably end up going on Explorer but having spent close to $50,000.00 for my family cruse with them thought they may be more flexible. I know there are options and when not traveling with family I use other lines. you can go on MSC yacht club for the price of a balcony on Royal.
  17. My daughter is crew on EX, got this text from her this am... Our dry dock was canceled as of last night. We will port in miami on the 15th - the 18th (in and out not over night) and for the remaining time we were supposed to be in france we will be floating around Freeport. Docking when it's free. Ship is hoping everything changes by may and we will sail to europe for cruises without enhancements
  18. If so, same as post 9/11 20yrs ago. Ships sailing 50-75% for months after, even in April 2002 sailings lucky if had 75%. Bonus for us Cruisers, rates were low, no Single Supplement, this inc on the Newest/Largest ships(Voyager Class). Dec 2001 got a "Cat B" 7nite on Explorer for $799 total for me SOLO, my first Suite. Was even able pay for one with Coins in my change jar. This on a 5 nite Cruise, cost $9ea plus $50 Port Tax each, total $118 paid for 2 of us. Enjoyed 5 Cruises from Oct2001-May2002 including my first and second 10niters(Junior Suites). Hooked, love my longer Cruises having done
  19. Interim Peak profitability will be a moving target the next few years, a function of allowed ship capacity and the answer to the question...which comes first the return of demand or the return of supply.. So if one predicts 50% capacity for ships in first half of 2021, and 60% later in 2021, followed by 70% in 2022, and 80% mid 2022 and so on. If the the target is pre Covid numbers, it will take a few years to reach. But peak profitability also is a function of per capital (per person) price, which will be tested until demand is strong. DW and I sailed Explorer in Feb
  20. I would love to book some sale items, but I am on a 9-day cruise out of Galveston booked for October 2021 on Explorer of the Seas (one of the cruises not canceled but cannot be booked.....in limbo....). I will not book a thing until they let me know what is happening with my cruise.
  21. Scroll down the link above... there's a clear photo of a deck 7-10 balcony. Deck 6 balcony below https://www.cruisecritic.com/photos/ships/explorer-of-the-seas-186/member-3/40108 All side balconies of Adventure, Explorer and Voyager are encapsulated within the hull of the ship, so all side balconies do not have glass that go right down to the floor. Only Navigator and Mariner have "normal" balconies with glass to the floor as these balconies are not built within the hull of the ship
  22. We had the same plans - B2B on the Majesty on March 7 and 14, and had to "vacate the premises" on the morning of March 14. It would have been our first-ever B2B 😞 . Just the day before the sale of the Majesty and Empress was announced, we were thinking of using one of our Club Royale discounts to book a cruise on the Majesty. The dates didn't work out, so we booked on the Explorer out of Galveston instead. I guess it worked out in our favor...
  23. We just did a lift and shift on our April 2021 to April 2022. It looks like our next will be November of 2021 on Radiance, Southern Caribbean (originally Explorer to ABC's)
  24. Our family's road trip for next summer (assuming I will ever be allowed to leave my state...) is wrapping around a cruise out of Galveston. I had my eyes on Carnival Dream, but with room inventory so low for our weird group (9 people in three staterooms) I also decided to look at other lines. Explorer OTS has a cruise on 5/19 that would work out well timing wise and the cost is similar (though one day shorter-Dream is six), as are the ports. Comparing ships is like buying mattresses... but while I see Explorer has rock wall and Flow Rider, they don't seem to have a waterslide
  25. Below is a list of the ships in the fleet. Cruise Directors play an important role in the entertainment onboard, and their assistant is the Activity Manager. If you know the name of the Activity Manager onboard one of the ships, please reply. Adventure OTS – Allure OTS - Anthem OTS – Brilliance OTS – Enchantment OTS – Explorer OTS – Freedom OTS - Grandeur OTS – Independence OTS - Jewel OTS - Legend OTS - Liberty OTS - Majesty OTS - Mariner OTS - Navigator OTS - Oasis OTS - Quantum OTS - Radiance OTS - Rhapsody OTS - Serenade OTS – Splendour OTS
