  1. We will be on the Explorer of the Seas in 30 days. We originally booked an April cruise which was to be after the dry dock. They changed the dry dock dates and cancelled out cruise, so now we are going before the dry dock. If you have sailed her recently, how is she looking? Did you have a good experience?
  2. Enjoy my latest video - Explorer of the Seas J4 Center Hump Junior Suite.
  3. Hello, I will be on my first RCI cruise in multiple years later this week; my first ever on one of Royal's big ships. I will be on the Explorer for 9 nights, and one of our ports is Labadee. I was wondering, from the more experienced cruisers, what are some Explorer/Royal "hacks"? ie, how can I get to the bow to watch the ship sail away (I think it's cool that you can do that on Royal), where is the best place to get a lounge chair on deck, what night is a must-do in the MDR, etc? Not having cruised Royal in multiple years, I don't know many anecdotes, and those usually
  4. Wondering if anyone has just sailed the Explorer very recently, and how their cruise was? We are sailing her in Feb. 7, and have read some not so great reviews so I’m curious how any very recent sailings have been. This will be our fourth time sailing her, so we know the ship. Just curious what recent cruisers might have to say. Thanks!
  5. I am on Explorer of Seas after the refurb is completed May. Mediterranean cruise. June cruise and already have my room assignment. It is one of the new balcony cabins getting added during refurb. 11th floor. Very front if the ship? Thoughts. Good location?
  6. Does anyone know if the forward facing cabins on Explorer - 9502,9504, 9202,9204 are the same size? (I know the central ones are bigger because they are family cabins.) I am wondering if you lose square footage if you take the cabins on the end.
  7. Current on Day 3 of our 9-night NYE sailing on Explorer of the Seas. A little background: My family travels in 3 generations at/near Xmas every year beginning a little over a decade ago (as hubby was deployed to Germany for 2 years & we spent Xmas overseas). We alternate cruise & land vacations each year. This is our 3rd Xmas cruise with RCCL but have cruised with RCCL multiple times & on most classes of ships. Why I suggest Undercover Boss? I read the not so great reviews ahead of time so came prepared. I’ll preface my noticings with the f
  8. We just returned from a Christmas cruise on the Explorer of the Seas. Thought I would mention a couple things for others who maybe sailing before she goes into dry dock. Voom internet, couldn't connect with macbook pro. Spoke to the gentleman in the internet area and he said it has been an issue for a few weeks. They are not expecting it to be resolved prior to the drydock. Windows computers can connect and I was able to connect right away on my iphone and ipad. The service was a bit slow however I was able to stream from Acorn Tv. Bit disappointed I couldn't connect my macbook I wanted to tes
  9. When I do a search for this sailing, it does not show up on any websites. I’m assuming this means it is completely sold out. Or would there be another reason for this? Thanks!
  10. Booking on explorer of the seas for Feb. 2021 and thinking of booking a balcony cabin on deck 11 forward (new cabins added in amplification). Can anyone tell me if the very forward facing balcony cabins have an obstructions? I see there is a "peekaboo" area in the before deck plans.... not sure if this will affect the view for the new cabins added there. Other choice would be deck 11 forward on the port side... opinions on which would be better? Thanks
  11. It's a bit early, but we will start packing on Wednesday...DW has already started pulling things out. Feel free to ask questions, before and during the cruise. Explorer of the Seas live report 12/13/19-12/22/19 I will try updating each day, but cruising vacation may get in the way. I will also try to “periscope live”-socialwork911-. I will try to post pictures here as well, if I can figure it out too. Itinerary: 12/13- Car service will pick us up at 9am, be at Port Miami around 10am to embark as early as possible. Sail away is at 5pm
  12. We sailed to Alaska in 2016 on Explorer and were pretty miserable. Because of the open staircase from the casino, the promenade was so smoky and disgusting that we didn't even want to walk through it. For a cruise where you are in a cooler environment and want to be inside more, it's very important to be able to breathe freely 🙂We are now considering Ovation for Alaska for summer 2020, but I am hesitant because of our poor experience on Explorer. Can anyone who has been on both ships (or ships of both classes) offer a comparison?
  13. We made a reservation for the zip line in Haiti, taking advantage of OBC and Cyber Monday pricing. Our time is 8 a.m. According to the itinerary, we dock at Labadee at 7 a.m. Will this be a problem? Since we made the reservation thru the Cruise Planner, will we be accommodated if there's some reason the ship doesn't dock on time and we can't disembark in time?
  14. I was looking at the deck plans on Explorer for the Jr. Suites. Does anyone know how the cabin layout changes depending on if there's a connecting stateroom or not?
  15. Hi everyone, I am planning European cruise with family next summer (seniors and 2 kids ages 8 and 10) and trying to decide between the ships - Allure, Anthem or newly refurbished Explorer. Ports are secondary for us, we are familiar with most of them and will enjoy any of them. But want to choose the ship that would be most fun. Criteria's were: - must have waverider (I believe all 3 do?) - must have great food (is one better then other?) - which has the best kids club? - any of them have water slides? - which has the most fun activities for acti
  16. Does anyone know if the muster stations are inside or outside? We have station D25 and the plaque on the back door makes it look like it's outside.outsiders
  17. How can I find out which pier Explorer will dock at when she arrives in Miami on Tuesday?
  18. Does the Crown & Kettle Pub on Explorer of the Seas serve any food, and if so is there a fee for it? If so, can you provide a link to the menu? Considering whether to get the Unlimited Dining, and as I'm not a big sushi fan, it seems we'd be bouncing between Chops & Giovanni's, with maybe a lunch or two at Johnny Rockets (where I understand we'd still need to pay for any milkshakes). I'm concerned we might get bored eating at the same places over 9 days (and 5 sea days), so I'm trying to determine if there are any other places where the $35 a la carte dining credit might
  19. Does Izumi still have hot rock cooking on the Explorer of the Seas? -Tim-
  20. We're in a JS on the Explorer and we're looking at maybe bidding up... do we need to get a coffee maker? Some posts here make it seem there is a coffee maker and a tea kettle but other material we've seen doesn't include it. Would appreciate the definitive word. Yes to a coffee maker and kettle?
  21. Because of bad weather ahead we are now staying in Lanzarote until 6p, we were scheduled to leave at 1p. Ports of Vigo and A Coruna have been cancelled and we are waiting to hear where we may go instead. Scheduled back into Southampton on Tuesday 11/5. We were 2 hours late into Funchal making it a very short stop due to the weather on the way down.
  22. Heading out on Explorer in January and wondering if anyone can tell me what, if any, broadway show they might be performing in the theatre? Appreciate your input!
  23. We have never been really happy with Voom on any ship. We really just like to keep in touch with family and we don’t stream movies etc. My DH really enjoys his newspaper in the morning and reading it with Voom is difficult. Wondering if adding streaming would help?
  24. Hi there! We are sailing on the Explorer of the Seas in February and I am debating whether to add the internet package or not. We have unlimited service with Verizon and utilize their TravelPass when traveling to other countries. I am wondering, however, if it will work on the ship as well? We have t sailed in a few years so I cannot remember. Any advice is really appreciated! Thanks!
  25. My husband is booked as a single on Explorer on the November 29 2019 sailing (he booked alone because I don't have any vacation time left to go with him), and he's trying to talk me into going with him and working from the ship for that work-week instead of him just sailing alone or me taking vacation time I don't have. We would have an inside cabin. I'm apprehensive, not at all sure I'd be able to find a comfortable place to work from, or that the internet would be adequate, or that it wouldn't be too distracting. On the other hand, I have a lot of "downtime" on cruises where I'm borderline-b
