  1. If so, same as post 9/11 20yrs ago. Ships sailing 50-75% for months after, even in April 2002 sailings lucky if had 75%. Bonus for us Cruisers, rates were low, no Single Supplement, this inc on the Newest/Largest ships(Voyager Class). Dec 2001 got a "Cat B" 7nite on Explorer for $799 total for me SOLO, my first Suite. Was even able pay for one with Coins in my change jar. This on a 5 nite Cruise, cost $9ea plus $50 Port Tax each, total $118 paid for 2 of us. Enjoyed 5 Cruises from Oct2001-May2002 including my first and second 10niters(Junior Suites). Hooked, love my longer Cruises having done
  2. Our family's road trip for next summer (assuming I will ever be allowed to leave my state...) is wrapping around a cruise out of Galveston. I had my eyes on Carnival Dream, but with room inventory so low for our weird group (9 people in three staterooms) I also decided to look at other lines. Explorer OTS has a cruise on 5/19 that would work out well timing wise and the cost is similar (though one day shorter-Dream is six), as are the ports. Comparing ships is like buying mattresses... but while I see Explorer has rock wall and Flow Rider, they don't seem to have a waterslide
  3. Interim Peak profitability will be a moving target the next few years, a function of allowed ship capacity and the answer to the question...which comes first the return of demand or the return of supply.. So if one predicts 50% capacity for ships in first half of 2021, and 60% later in 2021, followed by 70% in 2022, and 80% mid 2022 and so on. If the the target is pre Covid numbers, it will take a few years to reach. But peak profitability also is a function of per capital (per person) price, which will be tested until demand is strong. DW and I sailed Explorer in Feb
  4. Scroll down the link above... there's a clear photo of a deck 7-10 balcony. Deck 6 balcony below https://www.cruisecritic.com/photos/ships/explorer-of-the-seas-186/member-3/40108 All side balconies of Adventure, Explorer and Voyager are encapsulated within the hull of the ship, so all side balconies do not have glass that go right down to the floor. Only Navigator and Mariner have "normal" balconies with glass to the floor as these balconies are not built within the hull of the ship
  5. I would love to book some sale items, but I am on a 9-day cruise out of Galveston booked for October 2021 on Explorer of the Seas (one of the cruises not canceled but cannot be booked.....in limbo....). I will not book a thing until they let me know what is happening with my cruise.
  6. We had the same plans - B2B on the Majesty on March 7 and 14, and had to "vacate the premises" on the morning of March 14. It would have been our first-ever B2B 😞 . Just the day before the sale of the Majesty and Empress was announced, we were thinking of using one of our Club Royale discounts to book a cruise on the Majesty. The dates didn't work out, so we booked on the Explorer out of Galveston instead. I guess it worked out in our favor...
  7. We are contemplating options when our cruise is canceled soon. One of the options is a Southern cruise on Explorer OTS. From what I can tell, it has a lot of what the Oasis class ships has, but definitely quite a bit I can't find out so far. We will have the beverage package. Here are my questions: 1. Do they have a place you can grab a bottle of water and/or Gatorade to put in the room fridge? 2. My daughter loved that she could get smoothies at Vitality Cafe on HOTS. Do they have something similar? Or, can she get mocktails at the bars?
  8. We just did a lift and shift on our April 2021 to April 2022. It looks like our next will be November of 2021 on Radiance, Southern Caribbean (originally Explorer to ABC's)
  9. Below is a list of the ships in the fleet. Cruise Directors play an important role in the entertainment onboard, and their assistant is the Activity Manager. If you know the name of the Activity Manager onboard one of the ships, please reply. Adventure OTS – Allure OTS - Anthem OTS – Brilliance OTS – Enchantment OTS – Explorer OTS – Freedom OTS - Grandeur OTS – Independence OTS - Jewel OTS - Legend OTS - Liberty OTS - Majesty OTS - Mariner OTS - Navigator OTS - Oasis OTS - Quantum OTS - Radiance OTS - Rhapsody OTS - Serenade OTS – Splendour OTS
  10. I don’t think you’ll see Odyssey in NJ (in the winter months at least) with her entirely open pool deck when you have 3 of the original Q Class ships built for the cold weather. Odyssey wouldn’t be great for those snowy January and February days. Then again, they had Explorer there for years.
  11. Looking at a stateroom on Deck 6 of Explorer, but don't want to be right above the smoking section. Which side of the Promenade Deck is smoking allowed, Port or Starboard? 🍷
  12. Adventure OTS - Clo O'Connor July 6 for 2 months. Then who? Allure OTS - Jimmy Rhodes March 11 for 4 months, then Mitch Merucciis scheduled to return August 12 for 2 months. Anthem OTS - Dennis Charles May 12 until September 6, then Chris Brown starts September 6 for 4 months. Brilliance OTS - Mike Szwajkowski July 3 (for 2 or 4 months?) Empress OTS - WHO is the current CD? Enchantment OTS - Bobby Broughton April 6 until early-September. Then who? Explorer OTS - Topi Ylönen returns June 8 until July 27. Then who? (Graham Seymour may return as regular CD again for the rest of 2018,
  13. Yes, I think it remains a 7 day sailing. I have not gotten an email from Royal but my TA just received this. Dear Travel Partner, We hope this email finds you and your family healthy and well. Over the next few weeks, we'll be making schedule and itinerary adjustments to some of our late 2021 and early 2022 sailings for six of our ships. These changes are being made after tapping into market research as well as listening to feedback and input from guests and trade partners on opportunities for new adventures. But most importantly, we are applying the best available publi
  14. I just noticed today that my December 2021 cruise on Freedom has been switched to Explorer. Not even the same class ship. My cabin was reassigned, etc. I never received any notice whatsoever from Royal or my TA. Is this normal practice to make a major change and notify the customer to give them a chance to rebook another cruise?
  15. Thanks, did several on Grandeur and Enchantment's 1996's-2002, Got me to Diamond after few on Sovereign 1988-1995. Voyager and Explorer in 1999-2000 when were brand new, sailing #004 and #008 back when they listed those things. But since Brilliance, Serenade and Jewel exclusive with 250+ nites on those 3. Love my AFT/Corner Balcony's with 75% time in cabin 9256. Do have a TA on Vision in Corner/Aft part of B3B for April/May 2022, long as shes still around...
  16. Absolutely.. In last 4 years we had 2016 Celebrity Silhouette/Royal Princess 2017 Grandeur of the Seas 2018 Grandeur of the Seas 2019 Explorer of the Seas/Crown Princess For Christmas and New Year. We cruise year around, but these were probably the best! So festive, cozy, beautiful, events filled
  17. Does anyone know if there is a Boleros lounge on the Explorer of the Seas. I can't seem to find it on the deck plans for that ship. Thank you for any help
  18. I know what you mean. Our final payment of 4 December was rapidly approaching for our March 2021 B2B cruise. I decided before I made the final payment to do a L&S for the March 2021 B2B cruise on the Rhapsody out of Tampa for a B2B cruise out of San Juan on the Explore for March 2022. Same exact sail dates, OBCs for both legs carried over, we were able to select the same cabin for both legs on the Explorer. The taxes and port fees were less for the San Juan intinaries than the Tampa intinaries. So we saved a few bucks there. We still have a 10 night Canada/Pacific coastal cruise on Celeb
  19. Our Freedom to Explorer March 2022 was changed and we were notified in November.
  20. Radiance is not doing the ABC run in place of Explorer. We were booked on a B2B on Explorer in Feb 2022, primarily for the 9nt ABC run. Radiance itineraries for our two dates are completely different. Our Feb 18th 9nt was Labadee and ABC, you can look in the below PDF to see what it is now. Our 5nt on Feb 27 was Nassau & Labadee - now Labadee & Key West (an improvement on that one in my opinion). http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Deployment/2021_2022/RD_Caribbean.pdf Since I crashed a Freedom/Explorer thread, here's the Explorer flyer: http:/
  21. I ordered the UDP for the Radiance and for Explorer since 1. we usually eat at specialty and buffet and never in MDR, 2. grab and go buffet may be different with Covid. 3. price was $154 for 7 days for both. 4. Realization we could use it at lunch. We usually skip lunch and eat a late dinner but I am liking these suggestions about appetizers and/or Izumi for lunch. I always liked Izumi because it wasn't crowded.
  22. Like Explorer, after 4 months hanging off Poole, Allure seems to be on her TA for Florida.
  23. There are some seemingly significant ship movements. Explorer has started her TA back to the US. Harmony is on her way back to Florida after a long time around Barbados.
