  1. Is the bed near the door or balcony, on Explorer, in the regular balcony staterooms?
  2. Not sure if we want to book a Jr. Suite or not. Does Explorer have any up dinning for jr. suites? We have not been on this ship since it moved out of NJ and thinking about a cruise 2021 after dry dock. Last time we booked a suite they had special suite area for the pool but that was G. Suite. They did have special dinning for lunch and breakfast.
  3. If any has taken the 9 day cruise out of Miami on the Explorer recently, could you please copy a few pages of the Compass for me? I am trying to decide which dining time to get. I know we can do anytime, but my family likes a regular table with other people We currently have late dining which is our preference, but last time we missed a lot of events, especially Karaoke which my son loves to do!! Thanks for any help.
  4. My mother is on deck 12 for a cruise next week on Explorer of the Seas,. In the ticket booklet it gives the check in time from deck 10 downwards - deck 12 is not mentioned. I assume it has not been updated since the cabins on deck 12 were added even though this was a a few years ago. So I phone the call centre to ask about check in for deck 12. The first agent just couldn't get what I was asking and eventually came back saying Royal Caribbean. never board by deck number and therefore my question was wrong. The 2nd agent understood the question. but didn't have any ans
  5. Just got off Allure of th Seas Diamond drinks were available during happy hours at any bar, lounge, or main dining room. is it the same on Explorer of the Seas? Also there was a complimentary latte/cappachino machine on Allure. Is there one in Explorer?
  6. New to Royal and sailing on explorer of the seas may 17, 2020 10 day from Rome with a group of 6 of us. Have figured out a lot by reading and searching but for some reason I am struggling to figure out which days will be the 'formal nights' (and how many) so we can plan which night to have a 3x50th birthday dinner at chops. Trying to plan ahead. also what time will the evening shows happen? And is there somewhere I can go to get an idea as to what kind of shows they are? with my time dining and being a group of 6 are we best to pre-book dining times or wing it? Also looking a
  7. A group of 3 couples are making plans for our next cruise together, and we are hoping to know if the balconies on Vision of the Seas (or Explorer OTS, or Empress OTS) can be opened up between cabins that are side-by-side? We'd love to be able to have one big balcony, and I've heard that some people have been able to do that. So far, it has not been physically even possible on the ships we've cruised. Look forward to hearing from any of you who know about this possibility. Thanks!
  8. 1) Any tips and tricks for 2 adults on Explorer? 2) We loved the solarium on the bigger ships - how is the adult pool on Explorer? 3) Where are some good quiet locations to hang out? For example, on Majesty we enjoyed the deck chairs behind the movie screen for people watching. 4) How are the live music venues? We love listening to live music but not dancing! We are hoping to catch some jazz in Dizzy’s. 5) What’s your favorite bar?
  9. I know there's a way to tell if your cabin has the bed closest to the balcony or the bathroom. How do I do that on Explorer?
  10. Any idea when the Explorer is due to get her make over?
  11. When Explorer sails from Miami, does the ship offer luggage service to FLL?
  12. I booked cabin 8630 on Explorer. Have not been on this ship in ages and was wondering if this location is good. Usually on a higher floor but last time we ended under the buffet, lol. Thanks for any help. Also, besides the extra room is there any advantage to booking a Junior suite. On Anthem you got to eat in the special restaurant, The Kitchen, which was really nice.
  13. This will be my first Europeon cruise and would appreciate any advice, tips for international cruising. I read somewhere that we do not go through customs at debarkation, Is this correct? Any other useful info is appreciated. Flying in from US.
  14. Booked a 5 night in January, Labadee/Nassau. Price was right and dates fit. Any recent cruisers with information as to Adventure Ocean, Pools, any kid specific pool areas, other Kids activities and general condition of the ship. I know it has the flowrider but my kids (6/8) didn't love it so much. I've read some negative reviews that the ship is somewhat worn and will be cruising pre-amp... We're in a balcony so the view should be good and all I really need is a balcony and a glass of wine but worried about the kids being less excited as we just got off the Navigator and they completely fel
  15. i just booked 9 day cruise in feb 2020 wondering if it be being refurbished before or after feb 2020??
  16. I've seen a few people that seem to think that Explorer will get a similar refurbishment to Navigator. I personally don't get why considering that Navigator was completely redesigned with the 3/4 night market in mind and in particular, the entire pool deck is designed for the Caribbean and wouldn't work in Europe. I have noticed that she is out of service for 2 months, so it looks like her drydock is fairly extensive and certainly much better than what Voyager will be getting. I am thinking of cruising in Europe next year and Explorer from Civitavecchia is one of the options, so am
  17. We decided to try the Chefs Table experience on our Jan sailing. Anyone want to tell me about it ?
  18. I just booked this cruise, it is the first cruise after re positioning from Europe. What ship's compass should i use for planning? Any western Caribbean one (incl the small ships) or larger other ship on this route? Sister ships on the Eastern route?
  19. Good morning - we are looking into a 9 night Explorer cruise in early 2021 and I was looking for info on the planned upgrades as part of her "Royal Amplified" drydock next year. Hard to find specifics for Explorer's upgrades, but if it's similar to other Vision ships like Voyager & Navigator, I assume it will be pretty similar? Stuff like: New water coaster and speed slides, upgraded pool deck, Playmakers, Laser Tag, Escape Room, etc.? Anything else I missed? Sky Pad is also part of the typical overhauls. With the Sky Pad shutdown, has anyone heard if Royal is planning somethi
  20. Hello, I am so happy to say that we will be returning to Royal Caribbean in January! We were Carnival-Turned-MSC cruisers, but found a good deal on a 9 night cruise on the Explorer of the Seas to all new ports that we could not turn down. However, by the time we board the ship, it will be nearly 4 years since my last RCI cruise (which was on the Empress of the Seas, which obviously does not reflect the grandeur of the Royal ships), and 8 years since my first RCI cruise, a Hurricane Sandy cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas. For the other two people in my party, it will be their f
  21. Hi, does anyone know the nights Explorer of the Seas will have formal nights and also if there are any "themes" for a 9-night sailing out of Miami, going to the ABC islands, leaving the day after Thanksgiving? Thanks!! Last year, a friend of mine and I went on a cruise on Adventure of the Seas, and for example they had a "disco" theme night but I didn't know about it prior to the cruise. It'd be fun to know about any themed nights so I might bring a little something! Thanks
  22. Does anyone know or been on Explorer in a Grand Suite and know if internet is included with the suite? I really appreciate it. Thanks!
  23. Landed back ashore in Southampton this morning after 14 nights on the Explorer. First off, let's quash a few nasty rumours which may be making guests due aboard in the next few months worry about their choice of cruise: 1. "She's a rust bucket!". Nay, nay and thrice nay. There are a few tiny rust spots here and there, like the inch-square patch on our balcony where the upright stanchion met the deck. Unlike some, l didn't go hunting it out, but nowhere did I notice any significant areas of rust. 2."all the sun loungers are the old blue and white plastic type, and
  24. Hi, I am on Allure in September and looking at excursions. Has anyone tried the sky explorer in St Martins. Also will there be time for much sightseeing in San Juan with such a short stop.
  25. Has anyone stayed in Cabin 7366 on the Explorer? If so, was there any noise from crew if there is a door they use nearby? Any noise or vibrations from the engine? Any entertainment or public areas nearby? Thanks
