Balcony question on Explorer of the Seas
lovelife replied to jcb91777's topic in Royal Caribbean International
This was from 2016 and I can't find any info on the cabin number. I do see from the other photos that it was a junior suite. We almost always choose deck eight or nine on Explorer but cannot confirm the location of this one. -

Balcony question on Explorer of the Seas

Here is a photo of Explorer of the Seas. It looks like there are not any glass balconies. - click on this link for a large photo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explorer_of_the_Seas#/media/File:Explorer_of_the_Seas,_Fremantle,_2015_(03).JPG EDIT: I zoomed in really close and even though it looks like the balconies are enclosed in the hull, the center of each balcony has a railing and glass. -

I think they hope that the CDC guidelines will be lessened soon (I am on a 9 day for October 2021 on Explorer of the Seas...hoping it will happen if the CDC relaxes there rules on no 7+ day cruises until November of next year), but I truly believe that they are using a case like yours to help cash flows. I know they are desperate, but this kind of stuff makes me mad, too. Sorry this is happening to you! -
Hi - we have a group of 3 couples booked on a Feb 2021 cruise on Explorer. We have been told that the balconies can be opened to become one "long' balcony. Looking for confirmation that they can, indeed, be opened - OR if you know they cannot. Cabins are on deck 10 aft, but not the very back of the ship.

not as bad of a shaft going from Freedom to Explorer but i would be appalled going from Explorer to Radiance, that is a definite downgrade, not to mention not knowing the cabin you will get or the itinerary before the cancellation deadline. this change would be a definite give me my money back situation. will be the same with my Freedom to Explorer B2b if they cant confirm the cabins before cancellation deadline. worst business decision ever, unless they were looking for a way to reduce capacity without actually kicking people off

Deployment 2021-22 booking season begins
Ashland replied to Biker19's topic in Royal Caribbean International
So this will change my booked March 2022 B2B on Freedom to Explorer out of San Juan. Any idea when this will post so I can make sure I can choose a comparable cabin? Also has Explorer been updated if so perhaps this isn't going to be a concern over Freedom vs Explorer. -

Does anyone have any information about the redo of Explorer? I know it was put off from this May and we have a cruise scheduled for 2/12/21. If not do we have an option to switch our cruise to another ship?

Nope our March 2021 B2B Western Caribbean cruise was on the Rhapsody leaving out of Tampa. Yesterday afternoon I looked at a few L&S options for a B2B cruise for March 2022. Wasn't impressed with the itineraries due to changes for the March 2022 Western Caribbean out of Tampa. So I looked at San Juan departures for a March 2022 for a B2B cruise. Great itineraries as we've done them before. I then called RC to see if I could do a L&S out of San Juan instead of Florida for March 2022. Yes. Right on! I then called the TA we are using and gave her all the details to turn in my request fo

Hi Cruisers! Received this in an email from Royal Caribbean today: "We invite you to share a scenic sunset in Alaska this evening — from the comfort of your home. Virtually transport yourself to the aft of Explorer of the Seas® and watch with us as the sun dips below the mountaintops of The Last Frontier. Just visit the Royal Caribbean® Facebook page at 7:45 p.m. EST tonight." Don't miss it! ** May 22 Note: This video became available on May 20 and remains on the Facebook page to view whenever you'd like.

Deployment 2022-23 booking season begins

And I've sailed ships other than Independence - I've also been on Jewel, Enchantment, Explorer, Serenade, Oasis, Allure, Harmony, Symphony and Anthem. It's an issue with Anthem and not an issue with "not Independence" - I'd be quite happy if we had a Voyager, another Freedom or an Oasis in the area. Ah well, Allure looks to be Barcelona bound at least. -
Royal Cancellations thru Feb 2021
RFerrington replied to benebire's topic in Royal Caribbean International
They tried to do the same thing to me. I had a 7 night comped JS on Symphony and they said they could move it to a couple of different 4-5 night cruises on smaller ships. Then said I could do a 7 night Explorer out of SJ but they would not price protect. It would have been a comped balcony. No thanks. Just cancelled and took the refund. -
RCCL Christmas ornaments on your tree?
Teeara replied to George C's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We just have a pencil tree, so I only have our gold Explorer ornament on it. I get one from all of the ships we sail on so we would have quite a few. -
2/2022 Freedom canceled - replaced with Explorer
LadyBerard replied to maggieq's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We were book on Freedom for 1/9/22 and got reassigned our new cabins on Explorer yesterday. We are traveling with another couple. We had 2 4Ds on deck 9, side by side on Freedom starboard side near forward elevators. My reassigned room was same place on Explorer, but my friends got an aft facing balcony on deck 9. We were not happy, so we changed to 2Ds and paid $30 more pp and now we have side by side rooms on port side on the hump on deck 6. -
Well lets see - Our Brilliance for 8/30, 9/12 & 9/20 for 2021 were changed to the Jewel - the 8/30 was cancelled outright. It took a month to get our cabins assigned (none to the original location) but our TA was able to get our orrignal ones. The funny thing is that the 9/20 had a cabin assigned 2 weeks before 9/12. No extra OBC's but were price protected. Our Explorer for 4/15/2022 was being changed to the Radiance - same number of days and itinerary but not offered to transfer the booking, price protection.............they said that the Explorer is cancelled and

I called C&A to Lift and Shift my January 9 cruise on Monday. Because I had not yet received email approval by this morning I logged in to my RCI account and there it was on my future cruise list. I promptly called for a better cabin since they had assigned us a Junior Suite next to the forward elevator lobby and got an aft JS. The old cruise was Enchantment 7 nights, San Juan and the new one is Explorer 7 nights, San Juan. We had already booked a friends' group cruise for Jan 2022 on Norwegian Epic out of San Juan and now we're going side-to-side.

New Back to Back Rules Through 11/1/21
pcur replied to Kokomo91165's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I'm waiting to hear from RCCL about our b2b2b next May on the Explorer for 4, 5, 5 nights each. I know you can buy home testing kits now for $100 - $150, plus I agree that the cruise lines will likely work something out for consecutive cruisers with testing in the medical center onboard. RCCL is working closely with the CDC through their Healthy Sail Panel, so we'll see what they work out. I'm hoping a negative test the day before turnaround day will be sufficient. -
I know this is all wrong but you need a starting point for me to make corrections when sailings resume. 2/2022 Freedom canceled - replaced with Explorer
Dan-P replied to maggieq's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yeah, I'm not real excited about the change from Explorer to Radiance and even less excited about the change in itinerary. The 9nt first leg of our B2B is 100% different. Not even heading to the same part of the Caribbean. The 5nt second leg is going to Key West instead of Nassau. I'll take that change all day. Currently, when I log into my account, I can see that both of my cruises have been moved to Radiance, and can see our cabin assignments - which are two different cabins (when we had the same center hump JS booked on Explorer) - but am hoping my TA will be able to get tha -
2/2022 Freedom canceled - replaced with Explorer
Ashland replied to maggieq's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I'm on a B2B for March 20 & 27, 2022 changed Freedom to Explorer out of San Juan. I've also tried to call and was told their still working on the cabin assignments. Was told our itinerary would stay same just a change of ship. I don't think it's going to show up on website until all cabins have been assigned. They said my cabin number would change but probably not location (I have an OS). Just hoping this all gets sorted out soon. Very doubtful that Explorer is due for a drydock at this point in time. Apparently she had a recent maintenance one.....someone posted.
