  1. If you were booked on Freedom out of San Juan, you will now be on Explorer. Those originally booked on Explorer out of Miami will now be on Radiance. Seems as though someone you were speaking with was a bit confused if they thought Radiance would be in San Juan. Dan.
  2. Ken, DW and I each had a FCC from our last year's cancelled Oasis TA as a result of the crane accident on this ship at the Grand Bahamas shipyard. I had a portion of mine applied to our last November Explorer cruise and the balance was to expire on April 30th of this year. This was due to me receiving a much higher FCC since DW was at a 60% off fare rate. Her's was used up complete for that Explorer cruise My balance was not used because of the Covid 19 pandemic. I believe the expiration date for these FCCs were extended due to the above. I believe it may have been to the
  3. Last night our Nov. 2021 Explorer, the DDP went down to $43. BOUGHT! It was $74 a few weeks ago and then went down to $54. I was not expecting $43, I'll take that great price.
  4. We're on the Explorer on 1.9.22. The deluxe beverage package was $84 pp per day. Today, it is $50 pp per day. Still too high for us, especially since this is a very port intensive cruise, plus we're diamond members. We have already purchased the lunch in Chops on the day of embarkation, but that price didn't change.
  5. Not seeing anything for my January 2022 Explorer cruise. Nothing really for my Radiance cruise. I had better deals on cruise planner Columbus Day. I'll keep checking. I have a lot of OBC for the Radiance.
  6. Has anyone heard when they are going to refurbish the Explorer?? Thank you.
  7. We are booked on the Aug 30th sailing and hoping things are better by then. We are sailing with a 9 month old. We were told the ship is getting the Royal Tots nursery that will have babysitting if my wife and I decide to have a dinner by ourselves. The Drydock was cancelled and so the nursery seems to be on hold. I called RCL and they told me they will have alternate plans for the babysitting for the infants. Hopefully they will still have it for a few hours. If anyone has information about this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
  8. If you're talking about the 9 night Greek Isles Explorer cruise that would have left on Aug 30, I would have been on that cruise also. I found what looked like a great Ephesus guide (named Sado) who promised no shopping. Was really looking forward to it. I felt really bad having to cancel on him. He understood but I got the impression that all of the cancelations were hurting him badly. Sigh. I've been going naked lately. My phone that is. I just put a glass protector on the face. I like the look of the phone better than the case, it's smaller in my pocket, and th
  9. We're booked on the May 27 sailing on Explorer out of Rome. Somebody on our roll call just posted this from her daughter who is crew on the Explorer. Not sure what the plan is for our sailing however, we won't be on an Amped up ship if it does sail.
  10. we too were booked on nov 12th 9 day cruise on the eos....Booked it to go back to the abc's..Explorer has better entertainment, better food, more to do than the radiance..Will have to cancel as our dec 21' cruise on the "connie" goes to many of the same ports as the "new" itinerary on the radiance....We go our new room assignment on deck nice with the same oversized balcony but like i said we have sailed on the jewel, brilliance, rhap and radiance and they just dont stack up to the explorer in any way..just my two cents worth.....rccl is doing it darndest to send these diamond members back to
  11. Apparently you can't call to secure the balcony location you really want. I don't think these "reassigned" cruises are even showing up on line yet as the rooms have all been put on hold till they are assigned. I was on the November 12 2021 on Explorer, changed to Radiance and they "assigned" me room 1592 ...a totally unacceptable room. Both my hubs and I walk with canes or walkers. This is way to far down the hall for us! I was booked on Explorer for a jr. suite on the hump near the elevators. BTW I got no notice about the room assigned, just happened to sign into my acct and clicked on
  12. I did my lift and shift online then called the next day because I really wanted only 1 sailing and chose 2 more that were not as good. The rep was able to help me in 10 minutes. I would definitely call. Who knows when the next round of cancellations will be and the wait times will be horrendous if it happens. I went from the enchantment port intensive out of san juan to the explorer out of san juan with st Martin and the ABCS. 2 different itineraries. 2 different ships.
  13. The Explorer? An even better itinerary, and I, personally, prefer to cruise out of Rome than Barcelona...
  14. We were booked originally on the April 4, 2021 on Explorer 9 nights - did a L&S to the 4/15/22...............now that is changed to the Radiance. We had a category 4D - aft balcony..............Radiance doesn't have cat 4D...........so here goes another "adventure" on finding a cabin. I checked the "scanner" site and no Radiance cruises shown after April 1 (I hope that there won't be a cruel April Fool's joke coming). I am hoping that the 9 night itinerary will revert back to the original Explorer with the ABC's.
  15. We booked Explorer 10/06/21- 9 nt. Galveston round trip- to replace the cancelled repo from N.J to Galveston. With the now 'no longer than 7 days' statement, I wonder what will happen. If they do switch it to a 7 day, I hope to be able to switch w/o penalty.
  16. Good is a relative term and I wasn’t referring to good prices. This conversation was referring to the massive price increases for some ships. take a look at this pricing for Oasis. Up until the end of March it’s almost $3000 pp then starting in April it drops. Many ships are like this now. Most likely the high priced sailings will not sail. As far as great deals, those are few and far between but there are still reasonably priced sailings out there. Maybe not for the ship or itinerary and time you want but there are some. Lots if you have a TA with group rates (ba
  17. I just got off the phone with Royal and was told in the switch they would assign the rooms! I was in a jr suite on Explorer November 12 2021, on deck 9 with rooms above to dampen the noise from the pool deck and Windjammer. On Radiance all the suites are on deck 10 just below all the action. In other words, noisy! Plus you can't choose your room on Radiance, they will be assigned..Well, I did not pay for guarantee!! I DID get an amazing rate on Explorer and I know I will never get that rate again...less than my last 7 night in a balcony, so I told them to put me on Radiance. When I get my
  18. These changes have been in the works for months. I had first noticed the Grand Cayman bookings for Explorer back in May of 2020. I am not sure if the deployment announcements have been posted yet. The San Juan move happened back in July with port bookings. The Explorer deployment flyer: http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Deployment/2021_2022/EX.pdf
  19. I'm on Freedom for December 26, 2021. The email says we will be moved to Explorer for the same day and similar itinerary. But I don't see a matching itinerary for Explorer online. We sail more for the ports than the ship, so I'm not upset, but I guess I'll have to call and find out where we're going.
  20. I price checked our cruise that got moved from Freedom to Explorer and when I got to suites (which we booked a junior suite on Freedom), they were sold out. So I'm hoping we get the same room. I looked at the deck plans and our suite on Freedom is the same on Explorer. I really wanted to go on Freedom but at this point I'd go on a tug boat just to get out on the ocean.
  21. Explorer is going to San Juan. I just got the cancellation email from Freedom and now being moved to Explorer November 2021
  22. Further: $50USD for Interior/OV $100 USD above that If they don't hear from us they'll move automatically. Price protected. They'll refund if current price is lower...... I think we all know there's no refunds going out on price difference. We have till Oct 30 to decide. Not impressed, not surprised. We've gone from an AMP'd Explorer, to a refurbished Explorer, to Radiance of the Seas sailing to an undetermined itinerary.
  23. We also have a B2B for sailings in January 2022. When we did the L&S from Feb. 21, we ended up in January in order to have a nice B2B! I looked at cabins, it seems they could take the cabins we have and move them to Explorer no issue! Same location, category and even cabin numbers! Doesn't seem that would be true for the whole ship but it reduces my anxiety some. Now I only worry about the itineraries! We would have been happy with Radiance which is a ship we haven't been on. But, I am actually more pleased with Explorer than Freedom and it seems they are goi
  24. You were on Freedom? Looks like (from the announcement photo that several have posted) that those 7 day sailings are still 7 day sailing, but on Explorer still out of San Juan. It's the sailings that had been 5 or 9 day on Explorer out of Miami that will now be on Radiance out of Miami.
  25. It's all about the $$$. They are moving the Explorer to San Juan instead of Freedom. Explorer is smaller than the Freedom. It seems to me they are trying to downsize in San Juan and move more to Miami. The Freedom will be doing shorter sailings in Miami and highlighting their own Perfect Day Island where they make lots of $.
