  1. Is the bed near the door or balcony, on Explorer, in the regular balcony staterooms?
  2. Not sure if we want to book a Jr. Suite or not. Does Explorer have any up dinning for jr. suites? We have not been on this ship since it moved out of NJ and thinking about a cruise 2021 after dry dock. Last time we booked a suite they had special suite area for the pool but that was G. Suite. They did have special dinning for lunch and breakfast.
  3. If any has taken the 9 day cruise out of Miami on the Explorer recently, could you please copy a few pages of the Compass for me? I am trying to decide which dining time to get. I know we can do anytime, but my family likes a regular table with other people We currently have late dining which is our preference, but last time we missed a lot of events, especially Karaoke which my son loves to do!! Thanks for any help.
  4. My mother is on deck 12 for a cruise next week on Explorer of the Seas,. In the ticket booklet it gives the check in time from deck 10 downwards - deck 12 is not mentioned. I assume it has not been updated since the cabins on deck 12 were added even though this was a a few years ago. So I phone the call centre to ask about check in for deck 12. The first agent just couldn't get what I was asking and eventually came back saying Royal Caribbean. never board by deck number and therefore my question was wrong. The 2nd agent understood the question. but didn't have any ans
  5. New to Royal and sailing on explorer of the seas may 17, 2020 10 day from Rome with a group of 6 of us. Have figured out a lot by reading and searching but for some reason I am struggling to figure out which days will be the 'formal nights' (and how many) so we can plan which night to have a 3x50th birthday dinner at chops. Trying to plan ahead. also what time will the evening shows happen? And is there somewhere I can go to get an idea as to what kind of shows they are? with my time dining and being a group of 6 are we best to pre-book dining times or wing it? Also looking a
  6. We have never been really happy with Voom on any ship. We really just like to keep in touch with family and we don’t stream movies etc. My DH really enjoys his newspaper in the morning and reading it with Voom is difficult. Wondering if adding streaming would help?
  7. Which ship do you prefer? I know they're sister ships. We actually were on Explorer of the Seas in 2001! Seems like yesterday. However, it's not yesterday. Which ship is in better condition. Doing a quick read of current reviews, it seems Adventure gets pretty good reviews while Explorer's reviews are not great. The room category we'd select would probably be a Junior Suite. Itinerary Southern Caribbean.
  8. I know there's a way to tell if your cabin has the bed closest to the balcony or the bathroom. How do I do that on Explorer?
  9. For the Dec 13th sailing, I am able to upgrade from inside to either balcony GTY or panoramic oceanview (bigger room). Since we are a party of 2 adults 2 small kids, we would likely end up in a "spacious balcony" rather than a regular balcony. The upgrade would cost me $39CAD per cabin, however I would lose my $125 OBC. What should I do?
  10. Good morning - we are looking into a 9 night Explorer cruise in early 2021 and I was looking for info on the planned upgrades as part of her "Royal Amplified" drydock next year. Hard to find specifics for Explorer's upgrades, but if it's similar to other Vision ships like Voyager & Navigator, I assume it will be pretty similar? Stuff like: New water coaster and speed slides, upgraded pool deck, Playmakers, Laser Tag, Escape Room, etc.? Anything else I missed? Sky Pad is also part of the typical overhauls. With the Sky Pad shutdown, has anyone heard if Royal is planning somethi
  11. Landed back ashore in Southampton this morning after 14 nights on the Explorer. First off, let's quash a few nasty rumours which may be making guests due aboard in the next few months worry about their choice of cruise: 1. "She's a rust bucket!". Nay, nay and thrice nay. There are a few tiny rust spots here and there, like the inch-square patch on our balcony where the upright stanchion met the deck. Unlike some, l didn't go hunting it out, but nowhere did I notice any significant areas of rust. 2."all the sun loungers are the old blue and white plastic type, and
  12. Any idea when the Explorer is due to get her make over?
  13. When Explorer sails from Miami, does the ship offer luggage service to FLL?
  14. I booked cabin 8630 on Explorer. Have not been on this ship in ages and was wondering if this location is good. Usually on a higher floor but last time we ended under the buffet, lol. Thanks for any help. Also, besides the extra room is there any advantage to booking a Junior suite. On Anthem you got to eat in the special restaurant, The Kitchen, which was really nice.
  15. We just booked Explorer yesterday during the WOW sale. We are cruising to Cozumel and Costa Maya in November. I was last on Explorer in 2012. Who has been on it recently and has tips/advice on the ship or ports? I do have one question in particular - the RC website lists Giovanni’s, but the “explore this itinerary” has Jamie’s - which is it? Thanks in advance!
  16. Hi!!! I hoping to find some help. I am looking for a magnet from the Explorer of the Seas, my wife and I collect magnets everywhere we travel. My wife and I were engaged on board this ship. We just noticed we never bought a one before disembarking from the gift store on board. If you know anyone that is selling one let me know please. If you are traveling on board the Explorer of the Seas and are willing to buy one for me, I will reimburse you for the cost and shipping. The pictures I attached are just an example of the magnets we remember seeing on board t
  17. Explorer hump rooms are good, right? What I mean is they are not noisy. I think some ships like the Vision are noisy.
  18. We do not smoke and try to avoid smoking areas. What are the rules for smoking and where are the smoking areas on Explorer of the Sea? My wife was told since our ship departs from Southampton in England there is no smoking allowed in the Casino. Good for us. I am worried that people will smoke on their balcony and we won’t like being on our bakaciny. What are the rules and do people follow them? Thank you.
  19. Hi, does anyone know the nights Explorer of the Seas will have formal nights and also if there are any "themes" for a 9-night sailing out of Miami, going to the ABC islands, leaving the day after Thanksgiving? Thanks!! Last year, a friend of mine and I went on a cruise on Adventure of the Seas, and for example they had a "disco" theme night but I didn't know about it prior to the cruise. It'd be fun to know about any themed nights so I might bring a little something! Thanks
  20. Does anyone know or been on Explorer in a Grand Suite and know if internet is included with the suite? I really appreciate it. Thanks!
  21. Hey everyone. I'm Marc and I'm new here. I just completed my first cruise with Royal Caribbean on Explorer of the Seas. It was an overall very enjoyable cruise and has got me hooked to the world of cruising. I am currently looking for my next cruise. I just wanted to ask if anyone who has been on the explorer whether they have ever had problems with the coca-cola freestyle machines? I've used similar on land, mainly at Burger King and loved them. On the explorer they just seemed useless. For the size of the ship and the amount of passengers there were only four machines that I came
  22. Hi, I am on Allure in September and looking at excursions. Has anyone tried the sky explorer in St Martins. Also will there be time for much sightseeing in San Juan with such a short stop.
  23. Has anyone stayed in Cabin 7366 on the Explorer? If so, was there any noise from crew if there is a door they use nearby? Any noise or vibrations from the engine? Any entertainment or public areas nearby? Thanks
  24. It seems I've booked Explorer for her second cruise after her 2020 dry dock. My online searching has informed me that she is part of the Amplified program but not details of what this will mean for Explorer in particular. I figured I would start this thread to post updates of what will be done to this ship as they become available. I'm curious to know if they will be redoing the staterooms and what restaurants will be on board. I'll post any interesting links I find and hope others will do the same. Counting the days to June 2020!
  25. This will be my first Europeon cruise and would appreciate any advice, tips for international cruising. I read somewhere that we do not go through customs at debarkation, Is this correct? Any other useful info is appreciated. Flying in from US.
