  1. I was on Explorer a while back and they held the cocktail hour up in a portion of the Viking Crown Lounge instead of the Lounge on Deck 9. The Deck plans still show the lounge on Deck 9. Does anyone know if they still use the Viking Crown Lounge for the Suite lounge?
  2. First time on Royal Caribbean. Frequent cruisers on NCL and Carnival. We will be doing a 14 day cruise in June. Wondering about dress code in the dining room. We have a 6pm dinner time. Are nice shorts and sandals ok? We are trying to pack as light as possible. Formal nights. I believe there are three of them. Can we dress casual in the specialty restaurants? I don’t want to bring formal clothes for three nights but don’t really like the buffet so looking for other options. I have no problem paying extra for the specialty dining on those nights. Thank you.
  3. Just wondering which restaurants would be included in this package on the Explorer of the Seas? We are cruising over NYE and have heard they jack up the price for NYE would we still be able to use this package for that night? If we ate in the main dining room dose it work for ordering the up charge items such as a steak?
  4. We are doing a 14 night Italian Med cruise from Southampton on 9 June and are wondering whether to pre-book the 5 night speciality dining package at £96.25 pp (approx $122) before we go. We've used the speciality restaurants on previous RCL cruises but have never really thought about booking in advance because when on board they always seem to push a 'special offer' dining package on the first day and subsequently. My question to anyone who has recently been on Explorer or similar ship and can comment on the prices is: Should I book the package now or wait till we get on board in the hope that we can get a better deal? Thanks in anticipation.
  5. Has the refit work for next year been announced yet, does anyone know. We’re just off explorer on Friday and it is in need of someone TLC. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise as always you can see areas where work needs done.
  6. Hi Everyone, I am due to travel onboard Explorer next Tuesday and I was recently on Indy and they did a silent disco, I am wondering if they do it on Explorer as it was a lot of fun. Many thanks, Nathan
  7. Hi we are doing the Baltic cruise departing 23/6 from Southampton. I’m angsting over whether to buy the UDP for £260. Here’s what’s important to us. high quality ingredients reasonable variety and choice good service, I.e I don’t want to have to ask 5 times to get my wine refilled reasonable speed of service, I.e up to 2 hours is ok. More than that is a pain! We are both foodies so don’t mind paying extra IF it’s worth the premium. thanks
  8. Hi we are doing the Baltic cruise departing 23/6 from Southampton. Can anyone let me know what time the main shows (I.e ice shows and main theatre) typically start at and what a sensible time to book dinner for allowing for the inevitable slowish service? thanks
  9. Hello all. I’ve been looking at an Explorer cruise out of Southampton. I did a dummy booking and the only choice of dining was traditional 6pm or 8.30pm. Is my time dining not on this ship? Thanks for any help.
  10. For a Grand Suite I know you get free internet on the Oasis class and Quantum class. There is conflicting information on whether it is free on the Voyager or Freedom class. Can someone who has recently cruised on the Voyager class let me know if you got free internet in a suite. Thanks!
  11. Looking for some advice. We have been on several cruises and have been in Aft rooms, which I love but not convinced I would like the infrastructure in the way on Explorer. We are a family of 6: Self, husband, 10 year old, 11 year old, my adult son 29, and mother. We are needing 2 rooms preferably beside each other and have several options. I'm looking for thoughts on these cabins. 7th floor aft corner and one next to it 8th floor aft corner and one next to it 10th floor aft corner and one next to it 2 hump balconies that are next to each other. Which would you choose? Cost difference is minimal only $25pp separates them.
  12. We are new D+. Where can we eat lunch on embarkation day, other than the WJ and DL?
  13. We are trying to choose two cabins close together on deck 8 of the Explorer. Can anybody tell me what this area is? Just a open area? Odd to see inside cabins with their own hallway. Cabin 8226 would just to a large open space?? I don’t think I would like that. we have the highlighted cabins to choose from as well as an inside. Just trying to pick the best one. thnaks.
  14. They are placed as PDF files here (The link is to a subdirectory on my private webhotel - my name is Tine Unnerup)
  15. Going on Explorer of the seas soon, and I have to say the recent reviews are not exaclty glowing a real mixed bag. So my question is this, do Royal Caribbean read these reviews and act on them ? I'm wondering if the crew have been on a long while and are tired and due a break, how often do they rotate crews, from the captain down? It worries me with the amount i'm paying and the reviews saying "it's all a bit of an understaffed effort"
  16. Hello, i cant seem to find any reviews of this type of cabin, they are in the front of the ship, has anyone stayed in one? thanks!
  17. Hi all...we are booked on the 5-night out of Miami on March 15th. We have a bunch of family going as well, and everyone has booked separately, save for my parents. Now, Explorer has completely disappeared from the March/April calendar. I know the drydock was scheduled for March 21-April 20th (I think), but I'm wondering if they pushed it up? My SIL called to change her family from two balcony cabins to a panoramic oceanview suite, and they said it was sold out and that the ship is going into drydock and that they will have to get back to her with some options. I called twice, and got two different answers, but both basically stating that it's not cancelled. However, it's "sold out", and I cannot switch to a suite, but may be able to in a couple days. Weird. I suspect they are planning to cancel? Just the other day, my in-laws booked and there was wide open availability for all cabins. Just seems weird, and I can't get a straight answer, and now the rest of our family cannot book!
  18. We have only sailed RCL once before in 2016 on the Navigator OTS, we enjoyed it immensely, the only let down was the TV programming. There was a limited selection that played over and over, not a huge deal but on a 12N cruise you eventually saw everything (at least two of three times). Has RCL upgraded their TV programming to be more of an on demand affair much like the newer offerings from Celebrity or HAL? Either way we'll still enjoy our 14N on Explorer this fall. Thanks for any replies.
  19. Been a while since we sailed with RCL but seem to remember that if sailing from UK there is a kettle in the cabin Wondering if this is still the case. Thanks
  20. We're trying to figure out what's next for us - deciding between the Serenade or Explorer to the Caribbean. Do either of these have a Suite Lounge with a view? I've looked at the ship layouts and it appears that these 2 only have Concierge lounges in the middle of the ship with no view. Can anyone confirm one way or the other? Thanks for your help!!
  21. Hi all can anybody tell me what plugs I need for explorer.i am from the uk so assuming I need an adaptor thank you sylvia
  22. Does anyone have any pictures of GS 1252 or 1552 on the Explorer. If no pics how about someone who has stayed in either one of these. 1) I am trying to see what the Pullman beds would look like in either of those cabins. 2) i am also trying to find out if you had sun during the day or if it is blocked by anything above. Thanks!!
  23. I just booked the Dec 8 2019 sailing of the Explorer of the Seas the other day. I stumbled across this link today and it looks like it might be chartered for the Fuccilli Auto people? I posted on the roll call but there is only 1 person on it so far. I just googled it and it looks like this company does full ship charters every year at this time. Does anyone who might have been bumped previously remember approximately when you were notified? https://www.cruisewithhuge.com/itinerary Thanks! Jess
  24. Looking to book the Explorer for Jan 5th 2020 as our Independence cruise of Jan 6th got chartered. The balcony size is important for me as I am often on the balcony unlike my husband. At this time, I see 2 potential cabins : 9310 and 8318 Is one bigger than the other ? or will they be the same? Thanks
  25. Been looking at some details on the 2020 amplification of Explorer of the Seas and also checked out some great YouTube videos of Navigator’s changes. As they are both in the same class of ships it got me wondering if they will both be refitted the same. Does anyone know please?
