  1. Hi I was wondering if the Explorer will go in a dry-dock soon or not, I read it was scheduled for 2020 but it was cancelled, I really cant find the latest update about this ship. Thank you so much
  2. Need help deciding on either the Explorer or Odyessey, March 2022 sailing. Explorer has a great itinerary, but an older ship, that has not been refurbished since 2015. Odyessey is new ship, I've never been on a newer ship, as they don't sail out of San Juan. We sail yearly out of San Juan, last cruise was 2019 was Freedom which we liked. Should we concerned on age of Explorer? We like the port intensive cruise, but are concerned about the age of the ship, size of pools, gym and other facilities.
  3. Is anyone else booked on this cruise? Is it really going? Can’t get any sense from royal Caribbean.
  4. It's (not) cruise day! Longshoremen and everyone on the pier are all masked up. WJ looking like it's be cleaned, bagged and stowed. Balcony railing looks like it's been covered to keep the sun from burning off the varnish presumably. Up, up and away... Everyone is wearing a mask on board. No idea what the packages contain. Any guesses? Other than the mess on the pool
  5. looking to book a cruise on the explorer and deck 6 balcony was an option... The rooms were over top of the the gift shops and we were wondering if they might be fairly quiet even though there is alot of music and traffic on that deck on this ship...thanks fo any help
  6. Do all of the balconies have glass under the railing? I've seen videos where some are solid and some others have glass. Is there a difference based on deck?
  7. Just received an email that our 1/7/2022 cruise on the Explorer is now canceled and we can transfer onto the Radiance. I dot know rccl reasoning for this. They identified in the email that the itinerary is "similar destinations" to the original Explorer cruise, however looking at the Radiance cruise schedule, it is in no way similar destinations. Get your act together and keep the people happy to enable you to stay afloat. Grahaminca
  8. Just received an email that our 2/6/2022 cruise on the Freedom is now canceled and we can go on Explorer. Sorry but not even close to a win win. I was so happy to go back on freedom class especially after the updates. Where will the freedom be? thanks!
  9. Just got our email. Nov 26, 2021 Explorer cancelled. Replaced same date with Radiance. $50USD/$100USD "our bad" offer Sailing to............ "similar destinations"....... WTH? How do I make a decision based on that description? I think clearly they're hoping for cancellations.
  10. Really bummed about this one as it was the cruise we were doing for our 30th anniversary. Wonder if they'll extend the date of our FCC we used to book it. Their offer for the change is $50/$100 OBC (depending on your cabin selection) if you rebook a Trans-Pacific or Repositioning cruise by November 24th. I don't see myself rebooking at the current prices and lack of itinerary. I get they are trying to stay alive but this one is really disappointing along with what I view as a trash offer. Edited to add: I just received the email today for verification.
  11. What category of cabin are the Explorer aft balcony cabins 9390, 9392, 9690, & 9692 (post dry dock)? These are the ones immediately next to the grand suites. The RCI site does not show a category for them. Thanks.
  12. We are contemplating options when our cruise is canceled soon. One of the options is a Southern cruise on Explorer OTS. From what I can tell, it has a lot of what the Oasis class ships has, but definitely quite a bit I can't find out so far. We will have the beverage package. Here are my questions: 1. Do they have a place you can grab a bottle of water and/or Gatorade to put in the room fridge? 2. My daughter loved that she could get smoothies at Vitality Cafe on HOTS. Do they have something similar? Or, can she get mocktails at the bars?
  13. Our family's road trip for next summer (assuming I will ever be allowed to leave my state...) is wrapping around a cruise out of Galveston. I had my eyes on Carnival Dream, but with room inventory so low for our weird group (9 people in three staterooms) I also decided to look at other lines. Explorer OTS has a cruise on 5/19 that would work out well timing wise and the cost is similar (though one day shorter-Dream is six), as are the ports. Comparing ships is like buying mattresses... but while I see Explorer has rock wall and Flow Rider, they don't seem to have a waterslide
  14. Looking at a stateroom on Deck 6 of Explorer, but don't want to be right above the smoking section. Which side of the Promenade Deck is smoking allowed, Port or Starboard? 🍷
  15. Does anyone know if there is a Boleros lounge on the Explorer of the Seas. I can't seem to find it on the deck plans for that ship. Thank you for any help
  16. Hello! Does anyone know if the EOS has had an upgrade?
  17. On the the open decks, which side of the Explorer of the Seas can you smoke?
  18. Hi - we have a group of 3 couples booked on a Feb 2021 cruise on Explorer. We have been told that the balconies can be opened to become one "long' balcony. Looking for confirmation that they can, indeed, be opened - OR if you know they cannot. Cabins are on deck 10 aft, but not the very back of the ship.
  19. Hi Cruisers! Received this in an email from Royal Caribbean today: "We invite you to share a scenic sunset in Alaska this e‌v‌e‌n‌i‌ng — from the comfort of your home. Virtually transport yourself to the aft of Explorer of the Seas® and watch with us as the ‌s‌u‌n‌ dips below the mountaintops of The Last Frontier. Just visit the Royal Caribbean® Facebook page at ‌7‌:‌4‌5‌ ‌p‌.‌m‌. E‌S‌T ‌t‌o‌n‌i‌g‌ht." Don't miss it! ** May 22 Note: This video became available on May 20 and remains on the Facebook page to view whenever you'd like.
  20. Does anyone have any information about the redo of Explorer? I know it was put off from this May and we have a cruise scheduled for 2/12/21. If not do we have an option to switch our cruise to another ship?
  21. We are booked on the Aug 30th sailing and hoping things are better by then. We are sailing with a 9 month old. We were told the ship is getting the Royal Tots nursery that will have babysitting if my wife and I decide to have a dinner by ourselves. The Drydock was cancelled and so the nursery seems to be on hold. I called RCL and they told me they will have alternate plans for the babysitting for the infants. Hopefully they will still have it for a few hours. If anyone has information about this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
  22. They were on the 80’s cruise charter that sailed from March 8th-15th.
  23. Anyone who has recently been on the Explorer of the Seas, this question is for you. What is currently on Deck 11 forward of the solarium?
  24. We're booked on the May 27 sailing on Explorer out of Rome. Somebody on our roll call just posted this from her daughter who is crew on the Explorer. Not sure what the plan is for our sailing however, we won't be on an Amped up ship if it does sail.
