  1. Just received an email that our 1/7/2022 cruise on the Explorer is now canceled and we can transfer onto the Radiance. I dot know rccl reasoning for this. They identified in the email that the itinerary is "similar destinations" to the original Explorer cruise, however looking at the Radiance cruise schedule, it is in no way similar destinations. Get your act together and keep the people happy to enable you to stay afloat. Grahaminca
  2. Just received an email that our 2/6/2022 cruise on the Freedom is now canceled and we can go on Explorer. Sorry but not even close to a win win. I was so happy to go back on freedom class especially after the updates. Where will the freedom be? thanks!
  3. What category of cabin are the Explorer aft balcony cabins 9390, 9392, 9690, & 9692 (post dry dock)? These are the ones immediately next to the grand suites. The RCI site does not show a category for them. Thanks.
  4. Just got our email. Nov 26, 2021 Explorer cancelled. Replaced same date with Radiance. $50USD/$100USD "our bad" offer Sailing to............ "similar destinations"....... WTH? How do I make a decision based on that description? I think clearly they're hoping for cancellations.
  5. Really bummed about this one as it was the cruise we were doing for our 30th anniversary. Wonder if they'll extend the date of our FCC we used to book it. Their offer for the change is $50/$100 OBC (depending on your cabin selection) if you rebook a Trans-Pacific or Repositioning cruise by November 24th. I don't see myself rebooking at the current prices and lack of itinerary. I get they are trying to stay alive but this one is really disappointing along with what I view as a trash offer. Edited to add: I just received the email today for verification.
  6. My daughter is crew on EX, got this text from her this am... Our dry dock was canceled as of last night. We will port in miami on the 15th - the 18th (in and out not over night) and for the remaining time we were supposed to be in france we will be floating around Freeport. Docking when it's free. Ship is hoping everything changes by may and we will sail to europe for cruises without enhancements
  7. Our family's road trip for next summer (assuming I will ever be allowed to leave my state...) is wrapping around a cruise out of Galveston. I had my eyes on Carnival Dream, but with room inventory so low for our weird group (9 people in three staterooms) I also decided to look at other lines. Explorer OTS has a cruise on 5/19 that would work out well timing wise and the cost is similar (though one day shorter-Dream is six), as are the ports. Comparing ships is like buying mattresses... but while I see Explorer has rock wall and Flow Rider, they don't seem to have a waterslide area/kids pool area. My group is me, DH, "kids" 20, 18, 16, 15, 10, 8, and my mother (70's). Food is a big deal and we loved Guy's and Blue Iguana on Carnival Valor, but the Promenade looks like fun, too. (In any case it will be state rooms with 4, 3 (Gma and two teen girls), and 2 adult boys in their own.) AGH - I can't decide. Can anyone comment on things for kids to do on Explorer OTS without a fabulous pool set up? THANK YOU!
  8. We are contemplating options when our cruise is canceled soon. One of the options is a Southern cruise on Explorer OTS. From what I can tell, it has a lot of what the Oasis class ships has, but definitely quite a bit I can't find out so far. We will have the beverage package. Here are my questions: 1. Do they have a place you can grab a bottle of water and/or Gatorade to put in the room fridge? 2. My daughter loved that she could get smoothies at Vitality Cafe on HOTS. Do they have something similar? Or, can she get mocktails at the bars?
  9. Looking at a stateroom on Deck 6 of Explorer, but don't want to be right above the smoking section. Which side of the Promenade Deck is smoking allowed, Port or Starboard? 🍷
  10. Does anyone know if there is a Boleros lounge on the Explorer of the Seas. I can't seem to find it on the deck plans for that ship. Thank you for any help
  11. On the the open decks, which side of the Explorer of the Seas can you smoke?
  12. Hi - we have a group of 3 couples booked on a Feb 2021 cruise on Explorer. We have been told that the balconies can be opened to become one "long' balcony. Looking for confirmation that they can, indeed, be opened - OR if you know they cannot. Cabins are on deck 10 aft, but not the very back of the ship.
  13. Hello! Does anyone know if the EOS has had an upgrade?
  14. Does anyone have any information about the redo of Explorer? I know it was put off from this May and we have a cruise scheduled for 2/12/21. If not do we have an option to switch our cruise to another ship?
  15. Hi Cruisers! Received this in an email from Royal Caribbean today: "We invite you to share a scenic sunset in Alaska this e‌v‌e‌n‌i‌ng — from the comfort of your home. Virtually transport yourself to the aft of Explorer of the Seas® and watch with us as the ‌s‌u‌n‌ dips below the mountaintops of The Last Frontier. Don't miss it! ** May 22 Note: This video became available on May 20 and remains on the Facebook page to view whenever you'd like.
  16. We are booked on the Aug 30th sailing and hoping things are better by then. We are sailing with a 9 month old. We were told the ship is getting the Royal Tots nursery that will have babysitting if my wife and I decide to have a dinner by ourselves. The Drydock was cancelled and so the nursery seems to be on hold. I called RCL and they told me they will have alternate plans for the babysitting for the infants. Hopefully they will still have it for a few hours. If anyone has information about this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
  17. Has anyone heard when they are going to refurbish the Explorer?? Thank you.
  18. We're booked on the May 27 sailing on Explorer out of Rome. Somebody on our roll call just posted this from her daughter who is crew on the Explorer. Not sure what the plan is for our sailing however, we won't be on an Amped up ship if it does sail.
  19. They were on the 80’s cruise charter that sailed from March 8th-15th.
  20. Anyone who has recently been on the Explorer of the Seas, this question is for you. What is currently on Deck 11 forward of the solarium?
  21. Can the balcony partitions be opened on the Explorer?
  22. I know this is really far out but I’ve seen an ABC itinerary for Explorer leaving March 12, 2021 on a few different sites but it’s no where on Royal Caribbean’s site. Any ideas why? There are cruises before and after that date, it’s like that period is blocked out for EOTS. Possible charter pending? 🤔
  23. Since I enjoy hearing what people have to say about their cruises, I thought I would give some quick feedback on our recent one. DH and I were on the Feb. 7 9 night sailing of the Explorer of the Seas and had a wonderful time. We were a little concerned after some recent reviews, but we were pleasantly pleased with how the cruise went. The ship is still in great shape getting ready to go into dry dock. The service was terrific and we both agreed that the food was very good. Main dining room was great the first night. We went there a few other times, but found we preferred the food in the Windjammer more. Desserts were very good and this was actually the first cruise ever that I have thought that. I do feel the main dining room is definitely more rushed. We were pretty much out of there in about 40 minutes at the most every time, while still taking our time to linger. It just feels rushed to us. Order everything at once and it all comes out one after the other. As soon as you put your fork down they bring you the next course. It kind of felt like they were watching to see how fast they could feed us.😀 They did offer the 10 drink card for $75 on day 4 I believe. We did take advantage of that. I also purchased the coffee card which if I have to be honest, could have been handled a little better. When you buy it, there was no mention of certain drinks counting as two drinks. Many people were taken aback by this. For instance, I ordered large cappuccino and they counted it as two drinks. If you are going to do that, post it somewhere or at least tell people. Last time on the Freedom, they did not count it as two drinks so this took me by surprise. Not a big deal, but still. We did find some of the entertainment lacking with blocks of time with nothing going on but a classical guitar player. She was extremely talented, but we thought another venue besides the Schooner bar would be better....maybe the R bar for example. She also played for like three hours straight every day which we felt was a bit much without anything else going on. Don’t get me wrong, she was terrific and talented, but whoever decides the entertainment schedule needs to do some re-working of things and add more. Also..I wish they would have more going on during the afternoons and evenings in Dizzy’s. It is a great spot, but totally under utilized. Some music and dancing around cocktail and dinner time would be great as an example. Best show is the ice show! Wonderful. We went to see it twice. Main theatre we were kind of underwhelmed and seemed to hear that from a lot of other people as well. Nothing against juggling, but that did not scream WOW to us for a final show. The 9 nights are awesome as are the long port days in Labadee and the ABC islands. We enjoyed that so much we may book the same thing for next year. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and I’m sure the Explorer will be even better after drydock. For anyone sailing the next couple weeks, I hope this helps put your mind at ease. It is a great ship and I hope you have a wonderful time too!
  24. Does anyone know if the forward facing cabins on Explorer - 9502,9504, 9202,9204 are the same size? (I know the central ones are bigger because they are family cabins.) I am wondering if you lose square footage if you take the cabins on the end.
  25. Looking to book a Southern Caribbean for 2021. The two cruises that come up that meet what we are looking for is the NCL Breakaway and RCCL Explorer on the seas. They both sail out of Miami and do all but one port the same. Looking for personal opinion on which you would pick and why! We have sailed both cruise lines. We feel they both have goods and bads. But can not decide. Any help in selling one or the other would be appreciated. Quote Edit
