  1. Hi everyone. My wife and I and our 2 kids (18 and 14) just booked the explorer of the seas out of san juan for Jan 16. We have been on 6 Princess cruises but know nothing about Royal Caribbean. I havent started my research yet but I figured I could get some tips, tricks, or anything you can tell me about Royal Caribbean or specifically the Explorer of the Seas. I have read some reviews saying how old and tired she is and she was supposed to go in for a dry dock but i guess it got cancelled. We are very easy to please and are just excited to cruise again. Anything you can tell me would be
  2. Can anyone share their experience? Where is it located on Explorer of the Seas? We have been wanting to try chefs table for a while and it's never worked out. Do we prioritize it on this sailing? Or wait for a different class of ship?
  3. I know this is very subjective, but always like to hear others' opinions! I have a group of 12 (bridal party) looking to take a cruise in February 2022 - a mix of adults (oldest in mid 40s so no mobility issues, etc) - 4 of those are young adults ages 14, 16, 20, 20 - they are not highly active / adventurous, just normal kids. This will be the first cruise for 6 of the 12 people. I'm looking at either a cruise on either of these routes: Harmony (from Port Canaveral): St Thomas, Antigua, Coco Cay Explorer (from San Juan): St Thomas, St. Croix, St. Lucia, St. Martin, St. Kitt
  4. I know we have been going through the pandemic and the Covid-19, and hopefully before long, we ALL will be able to cruise again. I have done RC ships before, but normally I do another cruise line. My question in regard to The Explorer of the Sea ship. If you have cruised this line within the past couple of years, would you give me YOUR opinion of the pros/cons of this ship? My main reason for going on this ship, I am wanting to take my sons/d-i-l's to St. Lucia, and when checking the different cruise lines, this ship is the ONLY one that is doing it now, or next year.
  5. MIAMI – July 2, 2021 – In collaboration with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), Royal Caribbean Group docked Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas today at PortMiami to provide free housing and support for the tireless efforts of search and rescue teams working at the Surfside condo collapse. “I want to thank Royal Caribbean for prioritizing the safety and well-being of our first responders at the Surfside Building Collapse,” said FDEM Director Kevin Guthrie. “This resource will ensure our search and rescue teams have a quiet space to recover their
  6. Holding cruise for Summer 2022 and wondering if anyone has current status of refurbishment/amplification project? She was supposed to go in May 2020 for a major $110mm refurbishment as part of the cruise line’s wider fleet amplification project, which of course was cancelled. Thanks much for any info or guidance on where I can read more about what is to come with the ship.
  7. I’m booked in a connected junior suite on Explorer of the seas (1652) as it was the last one left. I couldn’t find any clear pictures on line that can show me where the connecting door is located and how it impacts the layout. It looks like the door might be by the balcony instead of near the entrance to the room. Appreciate any help. Trying to be optimistic!
  8. My son will be almost six at the time of sailing and think he would have a better time with Explorer group and space. Do Royal 'hardline' ages as far as the clubs go? I'm not sure how much mileage he will get out the Aquanauts program being one of the very oldest kids. Thanks in advance.
  9. Which deck are the enclosed balconies on the Explorer?
  10. Explorer of the Seas just arrived a few minutes ago. There were a couple Carnival ships here in the past few days and Adventure of the Seas is expected tomorrow, all getting vaccines for the crew.
  11. Is there an app for the Explorer of the Seas? If not, any idea when it will be added to the current app?
  12. Looking to book cabin 1838 or 1868 on Explorer for Sep 2022. Any suggestions would be helpful.
  13. Need help deciding on either the Explorer or Odyessey, March 2022 sailing. Explorer has a great itinerary, but an older ship, that has not been refurbished since 2015. Odyessey is new ship, I've never been on a newer ship, as they don't sail out of San Juan. We sail yearly out of San Juan, last cruise was 2019 was Freedom which we liked. Should we concerned on age of Explorer? We like the port intensive cruise, but are concerned about the age of the ship, size of pools, gym and other facilities.
  14. Hi I was wondering if the Explorer will go in a dry-dock soon or not, I read it was scheduled for 2020 but it was cancelled, I really cant find the latest update about this ship. Thank you so much
  15. Is anyone else booked on this cruise? Is it really going? Can’t get any sense from royal Caribbean.
  16. It's (not) cruise day! Longshoremen and everyone on the pier are all masked up. WJ looking like it's be cleaned, bagged and stowed. Balcony railing looks like it's been covered to keep the sun from burning off the varnish presumably. Up, up and away... Everyone is wearing a mask on board. No idea what the packages contain. Any guesses? Other than the mess on the pool
  17. Just received an email that our 1/7/2022 cruise on the Explorer is now canceled and we can transfer onto the Radiance. I dot know rccl reasoning for this. They identified in the email that the itinerary is "similar destinations" to the original Explorer cruise, however looking at the Radiance cruise schedule, it is in no way similar destinations. Get your act together and keep the people happy to enable you to stay afloat. Grahaminca
  18. looking to book a cruise on the explorer and deck 6 balcony was an option... The rooms were over top of the the gift shops and we were wondering if they might be fairly quiet even though there is alot of music and traffic on that deck on this ship...thanks fo any help
  19. Do all of the balconies have glass under the railing? I've seen videos where some are solid and some others have glass. Is there a difference based on deck?
  20. Just received an email that our 2/6/2022 cruise on the Freedom is now canceled and we can go on Explorer. Sorry but not even close to a win win. I was so happy to go back on freedom class especially after the updates. Where will the freedom be? thanks!
  21. Really bummed about this one as it was the cruise we were doing for our 30th anniversary. Wonder if they'll extend the date of our FCC we used to book it. Their offer for the change is $50/$100 OBC (depending on your cabin selection) if you rebook a Trans-Pacific or Repositioning cruise by November 24th. I don't see myself rebooking at the current prices and lack of itinerary. I get they are trying to stay alive but this one is really disappointing along with what I view as a trash offer. Edited to add: I just received the email today for verification.
  22. What category of cabin are the Explorer aft balcony cabins 9390, 9392, 9690, & 9692 (post dry dock)? These are the ones immediately next to the grand suites. The RCI site does not show a category for them. Thanks.
  23. Just got our email. Nov 26, 2021 Explorer cancelled. Replaced same date with Radiance. $50USD/$100USD "our bad" offer Sailing to............ "similar destinations"....... WTH? How do I make a decision based on that description? I think clearly they're hoping for cancellations.
  24. Our family's road trip for next summer (assuming I will ever be allowed to leave my state...) is wrapping around a cruise out of Galveston. I had my eyes on Carnival Dream, but with room inventory so low for our weird group (9 people in three staterooms) I also decided to look at other lines. Explorer OTS has a cruise on 5/19 that would work out well timing wise and the cost is similar (though one day shorter-Dream is six), as are the ports. Comparing ships is like buying mattresses... but while I see Explorer has rock wall and Flow Rider, they don't seem to have a waterslide
