  1. I am looking at Adventure and Grandeur for 2020--same itinerary, same time period (autumn). I think I read Adventure is like the "new" Navigator (which I will be on in October). Grandeur is slightly smaller but people seem to like it okay. I do not have children if that makes a difference. On Grandeur if my deck is deck 8 which cabins should I avoid insofar as noise from deck 9 which is the pool deck? On Adventure if my deck is Deck 10 which cabins should I avoid insofar as noise from Deck 11 which is the pool deck? Any thoughts are appreciated.
  2. I was spoiled on my last cruise on the freedom with that cigar lounge. Spent almost ever night there and meet some great people. Any one smoke cigars on the Grandeur? It looks like i have to do it on the pool deck. Was wondering if they do the cigar under the sky like on other ships. Really hoping they may be a regular few guys who smoke at night like there was on freedom. Really wish royal would put back the lounge on there ships.
  3. It's been a few years since I've been on RC and the last two RC ships I was on were Oasis and Allure with many food choices. I've more recently been on Carnival with 24hr pizza and ice cream and Princess with 24hr cookies and snacks. I will be on Grandeur and it doesn't have many dining options. Where and what is available on Grandeur for late night eating? Is room service free? Thanks!
  4. What indoor areas allow smoking? The casino? Anywhere else?
  5. Just wondering if you see any changes to the interior after drydock. Thanks for any information.
  6. I received an email last night saying that the itinerary for this cruise has been changed. Most are just reshuffling of port days but one change is swapping out St Thomas for St Croix. Since I've never been to the Caribean I'm wondering about this change?
  7. I just purchased the refreshment package for $20 a day. A couple of weeks ago when I checked it was $26 a day. Saved us 127.44 for a 9 nighter. Might be a good time to check if you have been thinking about it. The deluxe is but 1 get 1 50% off, but I didn't price those before so I don't know what the savings would have been. I'm a light weight and want to remember my vacation. 😂
  8. Does anyone know what RCI will do to the ship? new carpet and what else?
  9. This was our second cruise, the first being on Oasis of the Seas this past April. We were so excited to take our first cruise that we booked the Grandeur several weeks after booking the Oasis. The Grandeur was chosen for several reasons (1) less than 2 hour drive to board; (2) wanting to experience a smaller ship; and (3) hearing all the great experiences many have had on this ship. DW and I are in our mid 60’s, recently retired and enjoying our new found love of cruising. We are not what you call foodies, so the MDR, Park Café, Café Latitudes and the Windjammer are where we will be eating. A good cup of coffee for me and a Latte for the wife is a must every day and we enjoy a couple adult beverages when on vacation, so we purchased the Deluxe Beverage Package at a great price for $39 per day. I did not purchase the internet package so this is a post cruise review, maybe one day I will do a live review. I had intended to do this review as soon as we got back but with the holidays and unpacking time got away from me. I have learned so much reading other’s cruise reviews, I wanted to try and give a little back by writing about our experience. I enjoy taking photos so expect a lot of pictures of the ship and the ports. So here’s the itinerary for this cruise: Day 1-Baltimore Day 2-Sea Day Day 3-Port Canaveral: Will be staying on the ship, as we will be returning for a Disney/Universal vacation with some of our kids and grandkids next year. Day 4-Miami: Purchased the Hop On/Hop Off Bus Tour, must see will be the Art Deco District and Lil Havana. Day 5-Freeport: Will either stay on the ship or just meander around the port for a couple of hours. Day 6-Coco Cay: We have a clamshell reserved and this will be a relaxing beach and bbq day. Day 7-Nassau: Have an excursion to the Forts and Queen’s Staircase tour planned with Cheryl’s Bahama Taxi. After the excursion, a walking tour of Nassau and the Pirate Museum and Pompey Museum is planned. Day 8-Sea Day Day 9-Sea Day Day 10-Baltimore
  10. I am considering the Ultimate dining package for my upcoming 12 day cruise. I am interested in how the lunches work on Grandeur. What specialties are open? If Izumi is open is it a la carte? With the dining package could I get something to go if I didn't want to eat in the specialty that evening?
  11. We are sailing out of Baltimore to NE and Canada in June and need a little information please. Specifically what TV channels are available? Is there a ship app for cell phones to talk to others in our party? If so, what is the price? I tried calling RCL for help and even read several reviews on CC. but recieved very little information. Thanks for your help.
  12. Does Grandeur of the Seas have assigned check-in times? I just did the online check-in for our upcoming cruise and it didn't give me an option to select a time.
  13. So we have been on the Indy and the Liberty and my kids(DD16, DS13,DD11) thoroughly enjoyed it, even more so than the Disney cruise we did. We are looking at a cruise on the Grandeur, is there as many kid themed things to do on here as the Freedom class ships, cause it doesn't appear to have?
  14. I was looking at maybe doing Chops for lunch with wife and two kids 10 and 7 on debarkation day to avoid crowds at WJ. Have a few questions. On our past cruise on the freedom, the WJ was packed for lunch this day. Is it the same on this ship? Is chop lunch worth the money currently $21 and $10 for kids? Is there a Kids menu for lunch? An idea where i can find it? Any help would be appreciate thanks
  15. Imagine my horror when I discovered 5 days post cruise that my iPad was missing. Yes, I left it in our cabin. I contacted RCCL at 10 pm, and was given instructions on how to file a claim. The rep told me it could take 30 days for a response. Imagine my delight when I received an email the next morning at 8 am that my item was found! $9 in postage, and it was on it's way back to me. There are still good, honest people in the world, and one is named Edison, and he's a cabin steward on the Grandeur of the Seas. Good job RCCL!
  16. Is there still a Concierge Lounge on deck 11 or has that also been turned into a Suite Lounge?
  17. Hello fellow cruise goers! I am looking into possibly taking a cruise at the end of this year or beginning of next however I am limited to the grandeur of the seas due to my departure port and everything. Was wondering how everyone enjoyed said ship and pros or cons? Also where on the ship do you stay?(ocean view or Interior)?
  18. Does anyone have GOS for the MDR--we are going Oct 17, 2019 for a 9 night. I would like to show the couple we are traveling with the menus.
  19. On the RCL site on the benefits for suites page, it states "Private Lunch Seating in Specialty Restaurants (On Ships Without Coastal Kitchen)". Does anyone know if this suite perk is available on Grandeur? If yes, which restaurants are included? Thank you.
  20. Can anyone tell me the formal nights. Don't want to bring formal clothes so was going to make specialty dining those nights also is there anywhere to see the menu for a 9 night cruise?
  21. Hello all My wife and I are thinking about booking the October 03 9 night cruise out of Baltimore to Canada on Grandeur. I have a 7 y.o. who has cruised with Royal before and LOVED the kids club. I understand there will be fewer kids on this cruise due to the departure date and destination. Asking for an opinion, do people think there will be enough kids on this cruise for my 7 y.o. to interact with at the kids club? If there are not enough kids on the cruise, will Royal close the kids club or will they keep it open no matter the number of kids. TIA
  22. I was just watching a menu review from each night of a 9 night Grandeur cruise (Canada & New England). They had Escargot on the menu every night in the video. Escargot is my favorite food on a cruise, do they really have them every night? I am doing a 12 day (Southern Caribbean) in April, and this would absolutely make my day. Can anyone confirm that Escargot is on the Grandeur menu every day? 6&8
  23. I am booked in an inside cabin on a 9-night on Grandeur in June 2020. My preference is a balcony cabin but they are ridiculously expensive IMO - north of $1800/person. I'm booked in a balcony cabin on a 9-night on Anthem this summer and paid half that amount. I would think balconies on newer ships would be more expensive. Anyone know why Grandeur's balconies are priced so high?
  24. Sitting in my condo by Jetty park. Originally thought she was late--just realized probable here only as a day stop!
  25. Any idea of viewing 2019 Super Bowl on the Grandeur? We enjoyed Super Bowl in the past On Explorer and Celebrity. Hoping that Grandeur has it on.
